Officially Monday December 15, 2025
We had a couple of Monday posts overnight -- Kittykatt starting her day and lucylee finishing hers. But now it is morning here in the eastern part of North America, and I figured I should start a new thread. What adventures do you have planned for today? Share them with us! The more, the merrier!

Re: Officially Monday December 15, 2025
Hi Mystery Woman! Thank you for opening Monday's PWYC!
I think LucyLee asked if we had a slab or a crawl space. We are on a slab of concrete. No basement and no crawl space. We don't have an attic either. There is a large space over our heads and there are 2 access spots in the house, but the attic is extremely well insulated. The previous owner put twice as much insulation than is usually in an attic.
Dh is up, so I will go make his coffee.

Re: Officially Monday December 15, 2025
Good morning, Cathy! Now I'm wondering how your water lines are insulated. We don't have trouble with freezing, but we have a basement, and the water lines come in below ground. (Actually, we do have one spot where we have occasional trouble -- the lines to the tub are in a wall that backs on to an unheated sunroom, so we leave the access door to the pipes open so they get heat from the house.)
I've had one adventure already -- dropping my car off at the muffler shop. I feel horrible for DH; not only did he clean off the cars by himself, but he ended up leaving for work half an hour after he usually starts. If the garage of the muffler shop is as slow as the front office, I don't know how long my car might be there -- I think I waited at the counter 15 minutes, anyhow, before someone came out to help me. They just called, having inspected the exhaust system. The catalytic converter is OK, thank heavens, but most of the exhaust from there back is rusted. Still, the estimate is far less than what I was afraid it might be.
I have laundry in my immediate future -- blankets for our guests. The kids ransacked their rooms trying to find their electric blankets. Both were found, but only one set of wires/controls.
At any rate, they need washing, and they can't be put in the dryer (thankfully, there are machine washing instructions, though they suggest hand wash), so they need to get done sooner rather than later. There are probably a few other blankets that could stand washing, too. (The playroom, while not a three-season room, is a sunroom with plenty of windows and does get cold, so I'd like there to be a few blankets available, even if we find the controls for the second blanket.)
And the living room remains a mess, and we haven't really started on the dining room....
OK, maybe if I tackle this in threes. Next up:
• get the blankets in the washer (I think the washer can handle both of them at once)
• fold any clothes in the dryer (frankly, I can't remember if I left clothes in the dryer or not; I put away a load before bed, but that might have been the previous load)
• clear the laundry lines to make room for the blankets
I hope to be back to tackle another three after this. Have a good day, everybody!
********************
Got those three done. Still peckish after a breakfast with no protein, so I'm having some cheese melted over crackers, along with a cup of lapsang souchong. (For those not familiar, it's a smoked tea. An acquired taste, and even so, I only have it a few times a winter, when it's really cold.)
I'd go work on the playroom, but DD is in there having an online therapy appointment. So... next up:
• Clean up the table in the living room
• Clean up the table next to my chair
• Check on the laundry -- I need it to do another rinse and spin. BBL!

Morning Everyone!
I've enjoyed your posts and reading about activities in and around your homes.
Was able to see and get a vid. of a double rainbow this morning & the sunrise was glorious too!
Been up a while got up at my regular time.
Did my coffee and journals.
Made up the bed after a fashion.
Cloudy here today now, atmospheric river of pineapple express heading our way this week
I saw a forecast on fb posted. Great writing weather.
Had sniffles and was sneezing when I first got up that seems to have subsided now.
Waving have a great day and start of your week!
-----
Got the back of the house vacuumed / the bedrooms.
Windy ---> here today . ~~ it's howling.
Finished reading a book.

Re: Officially Monday December 15, 2025
Good morning
Mystery - Thank you for opening our PWYC village this morning and getting us started.
I am in overwhelm mode but trying to deal with the current moment. Maybe I will eventually work my way up from current moment to current hour. Right now the entire hour is too unknown to make any plans
DH lost his memory around midnight and was up most of the night, so that means I was up most of the night too. I am 100% monitoring him and "keep him safe" mode while waiting for him to return to normal.
DS17 watched DH for me so I could spend 15 minutes in bathroom and get dressed this morning. DGS18 took DD14 to school for me this morning.
Now both of the teen boys are at DS17’s work. DGS18 is eager to try out farm and ranch chores. It might not seem very exciting, but if you’re not used to it, it can have its own appeal....I guess. Moving steers off the wheat pasture into the feed lot, switching gates and moving heifers from the grass pasture to the wheat pasture, checking water tanks at dozens of spots, putting out lick tubs, and setting out dozens of round bales—just the usual daily tasks of caring for livestock. I've given DS17 a pass on doing homeschool while DGS18 is here.

Re: Officially Monday December 15, 2025
Well you know the saying…you plan and God laughs. That’s my day.
Decided to clean my self cleaning oven this morning. If you have one you know the cleaning produces a burning smell. It a cool day here with a strong wind …perfect to air out the house.
Sweetie was confused this morning so I didn’t go to class giving an early start to work on my home. Went to open my lania sliding glass doors and two wouldn’t budge. Asked Sweetie for help because he’s very strong. He could t figure out how to do it. I don’t give up and my weight training needs to be good for something
Went back and gave them both a try and they opened. However the tracks were dirty. Grabbed my vacuum and cleaned them. Then I went to open all the windows and ran into the same problem with dirty tracks so I cleaned and vacuum them all.
Made a note in my planner for next month to remove all the screens and clean the tracks from the outside.
Meanwhile by the time I helped Sweetie shower and dress and fixed him his breakfast there went most of my morning.
Have a list going for today and I am determined to finish as much as I can.
Declutter my guest room…I have stuff just sitting on my bed.
Clean my guest bath room… something
Declutter my poor office…ditto from above
Start my tree…decided I’m doing quick and easy this time
Wrap presents
Work on Christmas cards…five a day.
Sweetie is snoozing while watching Rockford so here’s my chance…
Waving to y’all!
LadyM… I would love to spend the day doing that. I miss my time on the farm. Glad Ds was able to help out for you this morning.. my brother is contacting the organization that helped us with my mom to see if they have an office in my area. My brother took care of my mom and is being my best cheerleader I could ask for. I’m glad to talk to him.

Re: Officially Monday December 15, 2025
DH symptoms are progressing along a similar timeline as previous episodes, which is oddly comforting in a way.
While DH was in the bathroom, I used the time to strip two beds—both had accidents last night—and get the bedding into the washer. Then I started mopping and managed to get through five rooms once. I’ll go over them again since sticky messes don’t come up with just one pass. Speaking to the choir here!
I wonder who is experiencing snow today. Not us, but the thought of seeing fluffy white snow falling makes me smile.

Re: Officially Monday December 15, 2025
LadyM I boil a kettle full of water and use the boiling hot water to do the first mop after an accident here. Thankfully all floors are ceramic or "wood". The bed room has really cheap "wood" looking floors. I discovered that I can't use as much water in there.
It is trying to snow here, and it's -3C, but it's also windy so it feels colder than it is.
Leftover spaghetti and meatballs tonight, so no cooking. Will 99% of the dishes done, it's like a day off. Dh went out and bought some groceries this morning. I'm going out this afternoon, but I don't know where I will end up.

At airport to head home. Flight delayed, but I think we’ll get there. Plane at the gate, boarding soon.

Twins - safe travels! Are your planes decorated for holidays? I recently watched one of my long-time youtuber that was traveling in Singapore and the planes there are decorated with multiple wreathes hanging inside the plane walls. I've never seen that before but then....I'm not a frequent traveler so am unfamiliar with current decorations trends on planes.
Floors are mopped clean.
Beds have clean sheets.
Life is good.
I'm working with DS17 and DGS18 to get DD14 to her 5pm therapist appointment in the city. This appointment is something that I always handle but I can't today. The choices are the boys stay home with DH while I take DD14.....or.....the boys take DD14 while I stay home with DH. I think the teens are going to choose to all go to the city together. I've told them that I would pay for their gas and food, so they seem to like that idea the best.
I always join DD14 and the therapist the first 5-10 minutes of the appointment to brag on DD14 progress and discuss any current issues and plans. That won't happen today since I won't be there, but I might type out some notes and send with DD14.
