Thriving Thursday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." – Maya Angelou

Even in the midst of the holiday busy-ness, leave time for the passion, compassion, humor, and style of your own. Carve out time to keep your own self healthy and together!

And, for the caregivers in the village, big hugs, don't forget time for yourself if at all possible.
Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better [wo]man. Ben Franklin

I don't usually think that anyone can restate or add to Maya Angelou's wisdom, but Twins' Mom comes pretty close, making it even more personal. Embroider-able. A read-again must-ponder.

Was already having some trouble posting a few days back when Mystery Pause a Minute and blessed Feelings/Festive thoughts were posted. I wanted to comment more then. Nice. but Cathy perhaps summed up best - it's today, get busy. :)

HRH has the annual all-over dermatologist body-check this morning. I will stay home. It is not particularly a day he would need me to listen to anything with him. His errands are drive-throughs, which is nice since it is cold out there. Getting some cash, picking up script. He says, "drugs and money - the usual". He is saying he forgot he should trim his moustache. So back to the mirror to frown more, lol. He always thinks he looks old and I always think he looks great.

Got one more card out the door with him for the mail. An old friend who messaged him the other day out of the blue. Always my handwriting on address shaky, always his handwriting on signature inside looks like an artist. lol.

Hi!

I have a lot of things to do today. Compost, garbage and recycling was dealt with early. Now for the hard stuff... shopping at numerous locations and hopefully I can exchange the top that is too small. I hope they have some of the larger sizes still available.

Time to get moving and get things done!

I ended up with a cold - our caretaker Sunday said that she was near someone who was sick - she was going to wear a mask but she looked great - lol now dd younger and I both got that cold.

Mom's a - fib hit yesterday - she has been doing so well and then her heart rate went up high and down etc. We called the heart dr. and he said to add more Metropolol. She is still going up and down. praying she regulates again as she has been doing so well; I dislike the idea that she will go backwards again.

I haven't done anything in a few days - but my brain kicked in again!

pulling card file! its in a pile - :) ;) really - a couple days ago my brain went to mush and I slid it into the drawer - not into the box! time to grab a card and slowly do the dailies and put them back in order. A good thing!

Awww, thank you Harriet. We got the four cards that are being mailed into the mailbox today. Dh wrote the sentiments, I had addressed and stamped.

Cathy is certainly quotable today as well!

You are in my thoughts today, as are all of our caregivers. Women end up historically as caregivers because we live longer.

So sorry about colds in the household, bw2, and about your mom's afib. You, too, deserve some off days.

Dcleaning lady is here doing her magic. I was up getting stuff straightened up. Words with dh. Because he gets up early and goes to workout he "needs" time to sit before helping me out. And then wanted to know if it was a bad time to s2s.

I brought my fruit/yogurt upstairs to get out of dcleaning lady's way.

Workout this afternoon, and dh out for bowling again tonight. My mind isn't into reviewing the DAR info right now, so I'll leave that for late afternoon, after workout.

I like to think that my hobbies help me thrive. Something creative (stamping) something more intellectual (genealogy and writing). And I'm trying to stay fit with walking and regular strength workouts.

I've had trouble getting to sleep last two nights. I think cemetery committee upset. I don't think I mentioned bill received yesterday for design and drawings continuing work on this top secret cemetery project which seems reasonable to me. I don't think we have paid them anything. And last night email from the gal who is supposed to be handing it that "This isn't what's supposed to happen at all." She mentions drawings and contract - has she or anyone else seen additional drawings or proposed contract? The cemetery committee board hasn't seen anything but a rough sketch last August. And she says we're "on there (sic) schedule for the later quarter of first quarter." For what, pray tell?

And I finally got an accounting of the cemetery money that the temple hasn't remitted to us. It's gone to the temple trustees, which is fine, but for heavens sake, we as a board need to know. It feels like they're trying to keep the whole process secret - because it's to be named in honor of someone as a surprise - even the board.

hello again - dh is cranky. - couple things: the coffee cup he uses was with me - he said their were none but there were 2 in the coffee cup area but it wasn't the cup he wanted.
I brought out another garbage can bc one was overfilled (overfilled!) and he was upset that I brought out the other one - then he put it by the curb - I told him that I needed it for today as garbage doesn't get picked up until tomorrow morning. He has a need to finish what is in his head and wants me to put the garbage, from today, in the garage for next week. He is not happy but he did bring it back to the outside of the garage for me to use.

every time I shut down for a bit he gets really cranky when I start working again. It never makes sense to me but it's been like that for many decades. it will pass.

mom is back in bed - didn't eat much but did get up. her a fib is still an issue.

I will come back soon - wanted to say - you have got this today! cheering you on the whole day!

Yay!! The men's clothing store had a size 5X. The woman helping me looked through the piles on the table and said the largest they had was a 3X (which I already had) I looked at the one on the hanger above the pile and it said 5X on the label. I said that's a 5X. It was blue instead of black, but that's okay. Dh looks good in blue.

I also got DMIL, DSIL and Dh their Christmas cards.

Good eye, Cathy! You saved yourself some hassle there. Having to do other's jobs for them sometimes seems to increase at stressful times like heavy shopping days, etc.

Ddolder came over to visit and have brunch. We enjoyed a collaboration on wrapping her niece C's present from me, which is heavy. Had to choose between patching wrap and using a lot more with long strips of waste. Both of us decided on patching, lol. Thrifty cheap girls are we! She impressed by matching the patch so well it nearly disappeared.

I wish we could do little visits more often.

Reading through here and couldn't see the name, first read that someone fell on their backside moving limbs in the yard. Oh, Nancy, I thought. lol Our yardwork queen. Hope it doesn't hurt. And NO, not happy your neighbors couldn't have been looking. Another time we may all be glad they happened to see if you needed a hand up.
