Nancy, I also bought some money-gift envelope type cards on that Goodwill trip with dd44. We are simplifying this year, and they may help.
Got a call from dsonil this evening and he did not complain at all about so many boxes and containers arriving at his house today. He only wanted to talk about how much work he and dstepson got done today on work around the newlywed house. He was pretty happy with the whole day. I'm so glad he took the arrival of the trailer well - I don't think he really knew everything he was getting into, marrying all of dd26's stuff! But with dstepson just taking the bull by the horns and getting so much done in one trip, it helped move things along so well. Whew.

Oh Harriet what a joy to read about that progress! So glad for you and your dd 26th.
My dd got her 5 totes from dson's garage over head storage this week & was pleased she said she could toss the
biggest percent of them as they were clothing not worth keeping may not fit either.
I let go of some pretty boxes and some trash the can is half full and I sorted a tea tray and the center part
of a desk got cleared yea!

Next Tips I came up with follows....l
I asked myself how can I make this fun for the next year.
Daily Declttering Challenge:
1-31 days of decluttering 1st day one thing, 2nd day two things, 3rd day three items. You get the idea.
[On last few days could be paper shredding.]

Jar focus
Put things or areas you've written down on paper; put in a jar and draw out one to work on to change it up.
Example clean the shop / work on the garage west wall zone...
under the sink what ever...

Re: December Declutter Strategy, 2024
I just took my hands off the trash and recycling this time and didn't second-guess HRH. A lot more left the house than usually leaves on my watch.
This means the mud room and laundry area, the little hallway beside kitchen toward tiny bathroom - each of these are a little more clear and open. Added up, it looks like more possibilities. Maybe we can start envisioning better pantry use now.
Nancy, the ideas to make a game of decluttering seem smart and fun.
