I'm going to jump right in and say Hi, before I settle in to respond to posts. I have had a very nice retired kind of day today. I sat out on the balcony in the sunshine and had a phone visit with db. He helped me figure out how to put up the small privacy screen so that I can hang a small amount of handwashing outside and hide my nefarious doings (I live in a weird city that considers the sight of laundry drying outside offensive.) And I came up with a plan for my next visit that my db liked. I had decided to spend my first Old Age Security cheque on dinners out with dfriends and dfamily. First as away to share my happiness, but also as a way to keep in touch as we have all gotten a little insular since the pandemic. My db really doesn't like to go out to restaurants and his bff is dead against letting me pay for her dinner, so taking them out is difficult. Well... on my last visit, I found that my db was thrilled when I brought him some leftover falafel. I hadn't realized that he had been missing it. Anyway, I asked him how he would feel if I found a Lebanese takeout in his city and picked up a platter of falafel, shawarma, fatoush etc. while I am driving his son to his place for dinner, and he loved the idea. He figures that his bff will be happy to come over and join us, so we have a plan.
And on that project, plans seem to be coming together for my dinner out with my dfs that I used to live with when I lost my house and then became an honorary member of the family. Not this weeked but next weekend, it looks like.

That's an interesting insight to your muscle pains, Lauralind. It would be hard to drastically change your diet with all that you have going on. Do you think it would be worth asking your doctor to test for allergies?

Thank you for our start, Kittykatt. I love factoids about astronomy. I could never get the hang of identifying the constellations, which I found frustrating enough to not want to do my own research. But I'm interested to read about it. Will you be doing galaxies all week, or astronomy generally?

Helian, it can be challenging when different families with different customs combine. I was also wondering whether F, being 22(?) weeks pregnant is at the stage where she wants to make the most of feeling neither sick all the time, nor yet enormous and finding it difficult to move. (And also somewhat hormonal due to her condition?) And, of course, once DGD-to-makes her appearance , there will be more big changes!

Dogged, what a lovely plan to celebrate your retirement with DFamily and DFriends. I'm not sure about the plan for the week yet, it's going to depend on what interesting factoids I can discover!

I'm finally sitting down with Matilda on my lap. Upstairs is now clean and tidy - it took a bit more work than usual as I had some clearing up to do in the spare room. It's coming together well, although I think DH can move the crate of homeless-and-needing-sorting "stuff" back in. It's certainly not light! I've also managed to divide the rest of the surplus dolls house furniture into lots and take all the photos. Next, I need to write the descriptions. Maybe tomorrow?

The old desk has gone. A rather strange young man (complete with his emotional support parrot!!! ) arrived in a taxi to collect it. DH now wants me to list the old office chair, which is also now down on the garage. I think I'll post it on our neighbourhood WhatsApp group first this time.
