kittykatt, a diagnosis is not a get ouf of jail free card, but it does open some options, plus there's strategies that work. G's mom should get some books/read articles about ADHD and school, quite frankly a lot of the strategies benefit healthy kids too, but they are crucial for neurodivergent ones!

TaDas
- midday routine
- grocery run
- put away groceries
- call with mome
- fridge clean-out as I was putting away groceries

ToDos
- afternoon routine
- 30 on cleaning
- homework with DBD

I'm on break in class - 10 minutes.
trissie, that's a great story! I think there's a lot of truth to it! I think it would be harder to raise neurodivergent children than a celiac one. Dd29 was diagnosed at age 20, so she was already almost out of the house. She will eat at restaurants that have a dedicated gluten free kitchen or are dedicated completely gluten free. She knows the questions to ask. She has eaten at the Cs house before; they buy gluten free frozen food which is cooked in the package or a pre-washed bowl that is perhaps china -- not a porous surface. She will not eat off certain surfaces if gluten has even been on it. Interestingly, she has another autoimmune disease - Hashimoto's, her thyroid. That one was diagnosed when she was 12 years old.

OK - break is over. See you all in a couple hours.

Trissie, I have ehard that story about taking back the struggles that we are already familiar with using a different setting. It is true!

kittykatt, thank you for the accurate description of ice cream realities.

helia, it is interesting to me that celiac can come on in adulthood, and I wonder why.

The question was also asked, is there long term harm from ingesting something one is intolerant of? Intolerance is generally of carbohydrates, allergies are to proteins. I think long term harm would come from inflammation that may develop. The immediate consequence is generally diarrhea, bloating, gas, sometimes constipation, nausea. These can be overcome with the use of a good broad spectrum digestive enzyme tablet. Lactose free milk is basically milk that has been treated with lactase, an enzyme to assist with the digestion of lactose. There are plenty of other enzymes we need as well, for digestion of proteins, fats, fiber (soluble and insoluble), and other carbohydrates. Our production of these enzymes is known to decrease gradually over time as we age. Then "suddenly" we reach a tipping point.

I sat in a nice warm tub and soaked this morning! It occurs to me that life is too full of chores when taking a bath is a major and delightful event!
My breakfast was a salmon eggs benedict, the other half of eating out with my retired friends yesterday, at a new restaurant named Benedict.
I'm dressed and ready to face a pile that has a bill that needs to be paid, then do errands while chicken thaws, that I will be cooking for supper as dbro will be arriving today.

Find 3 bills that need to be paid, write out the checks, get them ready for the mail
Go to dfBS and pull a noxious weed that is growing in her rocks - just out of normal reach! So I have "working jeans" on to crawl up there
order flowers for df who has surgery on Friday, to be delivered to the hospital
grocery store - baking supplies
unload dw, wipe off counters
bake cookies and brownies for dbro
start cooking the chicken dish - fennel, chicken, tomato, rice

and maybe start with making my bed so it looks like I care. I have really been sleeping in the whole of my quesnsize bed late.y - lots of moviment

I had to look up tor. A rocky outcropping.
it's also a tech term:
A Tor, short for The Onion Router, is a privacy tool that allows users to browse the internet anonymously by routing their traffic through a global network of volunteer-operated servers. This "onion routing" technique encrypts data in multiple layers, making it difficult to trace online activity back to the user. The most common way to use the Tor network is through the Tor Browser, which is free to download and helps users bypass censorship and avoid surveillance.

Almost an hour. Took care of 3 bills. That's why I wouldn't be a good treasurer or accountant! Still have to put stamps on them and drive to the PO. Plus while doing this I lost my grocery list.
Oh well, at least I can laugh at myself.

You make a very good point, Kittykatt. Too much of the time, I don't actually know what I'm eating.
Both Matilda and the spider have reason to be grateful for your efforts.

Good night and good afternoon, L.Ann.

I feel for your daughter, helia. My df is the same. I don't cook anything for her to eat when we get together; I bring something from a gluten free bakery that she has vetted or we eat in a restaurant that she knows to be safe.

You are so right, trissie. All of my working life, I have marvelled at working mothers. I just don't know how they do it. I remember one of my dfs saying to me "You just don't sit down. If you sit when you get home, you're done for the night." I have had trouble keeping up with just looking after my own little needs outside of working hours. Add the complications of health needs and I can't even picture how to keep up.

Paperwork can just take your whole day away, Gma!

I have to laugh at myself. I meant to go down to the locker to bring up the extra box of pee pads, as this one is getting low and I donated the other one. Since I was going down, I prepared a load to go to the lockers, and since I was there I took a couple of boxes that I was saving "just in case" I had to return the thing that came in it and bagged the packing materials for the garage and took the boxes to the recycling bins. And completely forgot the pee pads, LOL.

I came across an offer code for a Costco membership, where they give you back your membership fee in a coupon to use in the store. I've been meaning to sign up for years. I like Costco because they treat their employees well, which is more and more rare in retail. So now's the time. I signed up, and will go there later in the week. Today's main focus is meeting my df for dinner. It's another dinner courtesy of my first Old Age Security Cheque. :) I haven't seen her in too long, so am really looking forward to the dinner.

Tuesday
Cleaned up after dog
Put away some of the dry dishes
Found an offer to refund the equivalent of a Costco membership
Signed up for Costco (something I have been meaning to do for years)
Recorded the new password
Priced pee pads
Ordered pee pads

Good afternoon! :)
Ive dealt with other things this morning and now must tackle chores. Why can’t I be the person who bounces out of bed and tackles home chores head on? I suppose I will never be that person if it hasn’t already happened by now. :P
Interesting convos, I’ll read from the sidelines. Hope everyone is having a good day.

Do:
Pet chores, already started just need to finish up
