Cathy S. Luv your projects!!!
-----
I listened to a "class" on you tube today on how to do a writing retreat.
As I listened and took notes I thought how this could be a "sewing" or other retreat!
It was fun to discuss with my sister.
Some gals I went to high school with all cousins get a cabin and to a long weekend retreat
for quilting. They get great progress on projects and have a fun chatty time.
[ I think they have wine in the evenings.]
-----
Step 1 is locate project prices! LOL!
Found mine after 10 min. of looking in the drawers and cubbies.
My sis said she did that same, after she'd organized her space last mo.
could not remember where it was.
-----
I think I"m about 1/3 or the way done with the current knitting project.

So happy to be done with this particular piece. Dh loves it.
Well, poodley. I found a link, but it wasn't right. Oh, well, sounds beautiful anyway! - Harriet

Nancy, I wonder if you and your sister could have some kind of zoom-type meeting and see and hear each other as you share sewing retreat time. I have never "hosted" anything like that, but I assume it is something that could be learned.
Cathy, what pretty pieces. The sunset one is so restful - 11,000 stitches, wow you have accomplished a lot there. Love the whimsy of those mason jar vases.
When I insert a link, I type

and then type the e-address behind the equal sign, finishing with an ]
Then put in the words I want to explain what it is
Then type [/url]

The link for Mason Jar Lineup is correct. Lots of greens and very light blue-greens, including 4 blended colours on the jars. There is a lot of back stitches, which really made a difference with every jar and every flower. I don't really like this piece, but dh is pushing me to finish it. I wanted to give it to DMIL for a gift, but now she doesn't want any gifts. Not a piece I really want to hang at the moment.
The link for Sunset Bay isn't the right one. The one I did is 90% in shades of purple with a lot of mountains/really large hills. It's from a booklet from 1990. 've wanted to do this piece ever since I bought the booklet, which may have been in the mid 90's. It reminds me of a cruise I took in Alaska in 2007. I remember being on the ship and thinking about the cross stitch project with the purple mountains. I was so happy to do this piece because I love the colour purple. This is a full coverage piece even though the sky and the water are half stitches. There is no back stitches or blended colours in this piece. I already have a spot to hang this one.

I've spent some time starting on Christmas cards. I make them for dneighbors, some friends, and the people that I give a holiday tip to. (hairdresser, massage therapist, maybe trainer this year? Who else?) Also need a wedding card for Dec 5 wedding.

Cathy, how will you frame the mason jar piece? Do you have a place already picked out to display it? It would be nice near a kitchen, but it's also good for anywhere because it's really vases of flowers.
Twins', I love hearing about your fun upstairs in crafting area while you create cards. Did you get that new package of material/supply to use? Enjoy the wedding cardmaking - something different.
Nancy, what lining fabric did you use? Did you go with slick/silky type or maybe something cute? Thought about you and your sister searching for something AFTER organizing, lol. Same thing happened to me.
I'm kinda in a good mood
after moping around a while because I couldn't find some already-cut fabric pieces. Found 'em! I had put them back in the project box, thinking I couldn't possibly lose them if they were actually behind their label.
Ha! Sure, I could. These go with the larger Plaid Scrap Quilt project that's on the design wall right now waiting, and I'd put them away so as not to get lost among all the small pieces of the ornaments and bookmarks.
It was bothering me because I'd written out a step-by-step of getting this design wall work to an understandable stopping place, so that I could move on to a sorta higher priority finish on the embroidery for the larger blue and white quilt. That one is taking up space in my bedroom, which is the only place with a surface large enough to lay it out. I've promised myself I won't let that top go back into a project box until I at least get it finished into its thirds! (Top must stay in thirds for quilting because I have to quilt it myself in sections on my home machine - it has Aida cloth my dmil put into a block she made, and also embroidery on several blocks. Most pro longarm quilters wouldn't touch it out of fear they'd catch threads.)
Other progress - "deboned" the black cotton men's shirt I bought at Goodwill that HRH didn't want. Meaning, harvested the fabric, throwing away the seams. I'd already used one sleeve's fabric to back the 6 bookmarks. The front with the button placket untouched goes into my box of similar ones for making pillow backs that open with buttons. Bonnie Hunter has a good video on deboning shirts to rescue the fabric.
More other progress - wrote out a "wish list", in case anyone asks HRH what to get me as a present. They almost never ask, but they might, or he might go by that. Mostly sewing items but also a compass and a small exacto-knife. I'm interested in gardening of course, but it would be months before I could use a gift for that. The list will also be good for me to refer to for rewards to myself if I deal with something hard.

Harriet on the lining on the spring vest I did plain blue flannel I like that the best, it was a thrifted find sort of faded but worked.
On this one I did a cotton sort of polished not too heavy found a 2 yd. section of it hanging at Walmart one summer.
I would have liked a blue to match the navy but too dark for showing stitches for me.
Not knitting as much b/c of my back and sitting is not good for it.
