Dh is the mashed potatoes master at our house. He makes them with sauteed garlic, full cream, butter -- and his secret ingredient: nutmeg. A hint of nutmeg in potatoes is surprisingly tasty, imho. Dh and his sisters have talked about all the different sorts of potatoes one can get in the Netherlands. There was even a potato identifying game at the wedding of one of his sisters. Potatoes are a serious thing there too. LOL! However, dh doesn't care much for potatoes as he claims he ate so many of them growing up. He balks at boiled potatoes because that is what his mother made too often. However, he DOES like mashed potatoes and baked potatoes. We're having seafood paella for Christmas dinner, though, so no mashed potatoes.

It sounds like the new place (condo?) is coming along, Smile! Will you try for a nap today? That's quite a list!
You've got a lot going on today, Kitty. You're using your time well, as always. :)
Absolutely, Gma - no potato flakes. I don't think we've ever had those in our home. Although, they could be a time saver if needed.
Thank you for an interesting start trissie. I hope payroll is going well.

Last night, there were 5 here for Sunday dinner + 2 puppies racing around our house. It was nice to see dd30 again! She was in FL for a month? visiting a friend. Then, I got an email from our ex-pastor that his wife (CG) was in the hospital with rather alarming symptoms that started with a bad headache on Saturday. A CT scan showed a 2 inch mass in her brain. She became unresponsive, was intubated, and it wasn't clear if she was going to make it or not. Lots of communication with the Cs and Rs and dh who is in Mexico was followed by my joining the Rs at the hospital to sit with him + 1 of their sons + her mother while she got an MRI. The upshot is that it is a meningioma, a tumor in her meninges - and not in her brain. She has been sedated until she can have surgery to have it removed. Doctors are not promising anything, of course. CG is in her 40s, I'd guess. Their kids are about 10 years younger than ours, at universities still. The nurse told him to go home and rest. We all prayed together before leaving. No word this morning, so I assume she is still stable and sedated. I think he'll let us know when the surgery is. I got to bed around 12:30 and was up this morning at 7:30 to get ready for pest control, who arrived at 8:20 a.m.

I'll join you all with a long list of todos today.

Today: The pest control guy is still here, and he found 3 more flying squirrels in his traps in our attic. I'm so sad to kill the flying squirrels; they're not common here. But, they can't live in our attic. I have payroll, preps and then teaching 1:30 - 3:30. I also need to review my own final exam. I also need to make progress on Christmas as the deadline is closing in. We're exchanging gifts on the 27th, which buys me a couple days, but even that timeline is getting shorter. There are always Memorial thank you cards, towel laundry, guest bedding laundry -- and I would like to get in another work out. I did make it to the gym yesterday afternoon.

โ˜€๏ธGood morning!
Iโ€™ve been cuops from the weekend. Yโ€™all are busy! Does no one take off to rest for the weekend lol.

Kittykatt, thanks for the comfort food start. Iโ€™m glad the fence is a more neutral color. I havenโ€™t seen any brightly colored ones and I hope that trend doesnโ€™t catch on here. They seem nice but a lot of maintenance.

Hope youโ€™re well rested today gma. No potato flakes here either. Although I have used them to thicken potato soup before, a trick I learned from a she years ago.

Smile, nice tub option. I never understood the tub away from the wall option but all I see is hard to reach spaces that I would have to clean. Yours is nice and tucked in but with the same look as the other. Hope you find the right shade of floor for you.

Helia, Iโ€™m so sorry to read about your friend. Scary that it was so sudden. Hope you can find and seal off the squirrel entrance to your home.

LAnn, hope the school delay worked in your favor. Here it seems they close for bad weather that doesnโ€™t materialize (thankfully) or wait too long in a bad situation. They canโ€™t win.

Dogged, Germaneโ€™s menu preferences definitely differ from yours. Iโ€™m glad you got her meds in her. Rex, our German shepherd who passed a couple years ago, was no easy patient when trying to medicate. And why are dog meds always large, untasty chews, at least they were in his case, he would spit them out of his food and they were too large to massage down his throat. Even those pill pockets arenโ€™t liked by my dogs and they are supposed to be enticing.

Lol at the cat stories. Cats will be cats. Gotta love them.

French, good to read about you although sorry I missed being here while you were posting.

Laura, hope ds is able to work things out.

Kitkat, glad you got some grandbaby time.

Trissie, I am so relieved you got a nap. I was beginning to wonder if you ever sleep. Good to hear a review on the movie, I enjoyed the first one, canโ€™t remember if I enjoyed the second one or not now.

Hugs to everyone I havenโ€™t mentioned. Blame my old memory. :P

We ran errands Friday, chilled the rest of the weekend. This weekโ€™s focus is cleaning and prepping for the family Christmas party on Sunday. Iโ€™ll be back in a bit with a list and a smile. ๐Ÿ˜Š
โ™ฅ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! โ™ฅ

Hello, everyone!

Praying for your DFriend, Helia.

I hope the two hour delay wasn't too inconvenient, L.Ann.

Trissie, a glass of mulled wine while looking at recipes sounds a very good way to relax!

Bama, if you're struggling to medicate animals, a compounding pharmacy may be able to help to produce more palatable solutions. Gabapentin, which is naturally quite bitter tasting is usually available as a small pill as a larger capsule - fine fore Freddie, who will eat anything, but challenging for anyone with a more refined appetite. Enter the compounding pharmacy, who can produce it as a chicken flavoured liquid, which will satisfy the more discerning Matilda!

Hi, Peaches!

Good news, I now have a fully functioning dining table. :D MJ is a real find, and he's also going to be able to fix my cabinet that wobbles sometime in the new year. Upstairs is now clean and tidy, and although I didn't get any wrapping done, I'm still calling today a success.
