Good morning

Happy Boxing Day! May today bring you peace, joy, and pleasant surprises. May everything you give come back to you many times over. Show a little love to someone today.

My day is off to a good start although I am running a bit behind in my hourly pathways, but don't feel any pressure about it. I will catch up when things calm down for a bit. A friend stopped by for a visit this morning. Monitoring DH closer has been necessary today. I was burning the fire pit in the garden and heard a sound I didn't recognize. I walked to the front of the house and found DH using a sledge hammer beating on our concrete driveway. Why? Who knows.

A friend of DS17 arrived this morning to help him with flat tire. The simple solution is put spare on while getting tire fixed. However the spare tire won't come off its mount underneath the pickup. Little problems but they can seem big when they are requiring plan A, plan B, plan C, etc to solve. I encourage DS17 to just go with the flow and seek a new solution each time things don't work out. I just got a text notification for $329 on our credit card so I assume the tire could not be fixed and new tire purchase was required.

A much loved, hearty, nutritious breakfast was prepared and enjoyed.

(((((Cathy & DH))))) this is wonderful news! I am so very happy for you!

hi d Nancy! so happy you had a walk! left overs sound great! I understand about having good boxes to use in the future.
you give me inspiration to look over our holidays - figuring out what work and doesn't work

d cathy yay on bed made and dw running
hope you find exactly the right person for you.
it's not at all stupid - it's just a lot of feelings about your sweet dh and needing to have help. it's okay to feel this way! it can be overwhelming,.

d lady happy Boxing Day! thank you for the wishes!
yay on a good start to the day! how nice that a df came by!
did your dh say why eventually-My grandfather was always a hard worker too!
how nice that your ds has such good friends - you always have so much good advice - it's great that he looks at different options
how nice to have such a loved hearty nutritious breakfast! well done!

hi d twins. I am sorry he was cranky! Hope his boredom passes fast. I'm sure it has to do with how he is feeling more than about you. chili sounds great!

my dh has been retired longer and he too was upset that I was busy with things and hobbies. It's hard for you to be busy all the time - it's okay to set boundaries - dh has had some frustration bc I ask him to set things ahead bc it was suffocating me. I had to be there all the time when he was sick but when he was better I couldn't be his day in and day out entertainment. - you need down time - it makes you happy. A happy you will be better for both of you.

dh tried that on me this morning - he was great up until this morning. I knew once Christmas was over he was going to get cranky. He was right on cue - I am not as kind -I knew what was happening. He was inpatient after all the parties etc. he reached his limit; I think. He started bringing all kinds of stuff into the dining room and house from the garage and had a big hissy fit. (especially boxes of mom's pull ups, pads etc. I wasn't doing that today. I didn't want to spend my day cleaning the garage bc he wanted to and then placing everything on the dining room table.I told him it will take time to get all of christmas away and once dd younger is in Florida that we can go easily through things a bit at a time. I didn't have time for it today after all the work from christmas and thanksgiving; which I loved. He chilled out. He didn't apologize but his demeanor changed.

next: separate laundry and continue put away

I remembered that I had to go and collect the large compost bin from the end of the driveway. I even put on snow pants because we are having a freezing rain/snow mix. There was rain before the snow and the driveway was at the slushy point. Thankfully the wind has stopped. I was happy to get back inside!!

Dishwasher is empty again! Yay! We are having dh's choice of pasta with meat sauce tonight. A good meal for a cold night. I might ask for a fire in the fireplace later.

I am trying to resist turning the a/c on. it is currently 85F inside the house. We have one more warm (80+) day before the temperatures plummet into freezing.

DH and I teamed up to take down about 3/4 of the Christmas lights outside. The Christmas lights that were put on the pasture fence line were not a good location because the bulls destroyed most of the lights. I'm undecided on taking the rest of the lights down because they look so good. Should we take them down while we have nice weather or leave them to enjoy for a while? Hum.....

It has been a memorable day for DS17 and friends. DS17 and friend took the flat tire to get fixed. While waiting they went vehicle shopping. They spent 6 hours at dealership test driving and talking. When they got ready to leave the friend pickup wouldn't start and they had to call for a tow truck. What is the chance of that happening while you are vehicle shopping?! ANYway, they called another friend to come get them in the city and bring them back here. They put the tire on DS17 pickup and now they have a vehicle to drive again.
