hi d harriet - I also don't have a word for the year. having a concept might be nice. No pressuring myself is my goal. Being "ok"sounds good to me too
I agree: warding off" Medical" is a good thing!
yay on decluttering those two rooms!
d Lucy - your sweet daughter - thinking of her!
your kitchen looks great!
how wonderful that you make your own electrolytes d lady!
I love how you help your children grow to be positive and self sufficient adults! learning how to discuss things is a big deal!
time is going by fast - I agree
oh no that your dd's bed broke again. I am sorry!
hi d mystery
s2s and breakfast and tidy is a big job! glad that your dads ankle feels better
cheering you as you work on your cards!

WOY = Word of the Year HOPE
Phrase of the year "Queen of Hope".

This might be turning in to a writing project at some point in the future.
I've been to the store and the pantry is restocked now yea!
Had a quick bite to eat after & as I put stuff away.
Glad for one task I'd been putting off after putting branches in totes
that I usually use in the wagon for groc. got those washed & cleaned for my next
stock up trip yea!
I'm good in case we get a Jan. cold snap.
A few items for family gathering also.
Rx got picked up too.
They had zero meat pies the frozen ones of any brand so if you like
em and see em grab em! I got 2 Rotisserie chickens instead! Yum! Win win!
We have walked and I got my steps in today.
I had my dinner as bit early but glad to have the clean up after, made up dog treats.
Got the rest of the canned foods put away.
Got another desk cleaned off yea!
Living room has been vacuumed.
Finished up the last two hot pads from Dec / bc I ran out of yarn and was not going to the store then!

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
I've been somewhat productive, although did spend time upstairs at the desk playing genealogy too. Also looked at HOA invoicing in another attempt to get email and invoice reading the way each should. Downstairs, I have the DAR application prepped to mail, except that I used my last check this a.m. and can't write the checks to accompany it.I've been aware I needed to order but hadn't. I've done so now. I'm about to call dh to ask if I can use his checks that are in the drawer for this. Sheets are finally moved over to dryer but I've left laundry from the dryer on breakfast table. And I'm finally eating my own late brunch. I drink two large coffees in the a.m. with 2% milk and some no sugar non dairy creamer and that keeps me full for awhile.
Yes, Harriet, I've seen pithy sayings on social media about starting the new years resolutions or diet or whatever on 5 January, and that's my starting date. Normal returns to the world then. No short weeks, no holidays, just back to business.
I have chicken out thawing for our dinner, with extra for leftovers. And I'll do baked sweet potatoes and maybe a salad or the rest of the cut veggies from Monday p.m.

Okay, wrote checks, closed up the envelope with DAR stuff and heading to post office.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
I'm sorry, Harriet, but it is NOT inspiring to look in and see what I am doing.
Thanks for the reminder that your dd is further along on this journey than I am. Sometimes it just feels like I am spinning my wheels.
This morning... I just could NOT get out of bed. Finally, dgs answered me from a text I had sent him last night, and I saw that the secretary at church had texted earlier wanting me to sign some checks. So I went to the church * after a quick s2s * and did that. While I was in the shower, the man came to pay his rent -- which I saw on the Ring camera app -- so I went by his house to get the rent, and and went to the post office.
At any rate, it was after 1:00 pm when I finally got out of the house, and since I came back, I have done nothing but read the paper and eat. Which makes me sleepy again... and so it goes. I feel like the Apostle Paul, "what wretched (wo)man I am."
I have not touched the tree, as far as un-decorating... and the dining room table is still full of decorations... and dgd wants to spend the night.
It is raining here, too, Nancy, and feels colder than it really is. My house is holding steady at 73, but I just want to wrap up in a blanket and go back to sleep.

I am smiling at LadyM...
Blessed, maybe I should start with just taking some ornaments down? I see myself more in your dmom -- "exhausted," but I am admiring you as you take down ornaments.
My planner has a space for the Word of the Year and Verse of the Year. I'm still thinking. HOPE is good, Nancy.
I need to write a check and get it in the mail later today. I'm paying more online and with the app.
I am also so disappointed with the mail -- or maybe an acquaintance.
A friend/acquaintance of ds's was on the Opry for their 100th anniversary celebration, and this friend makes old-fashioned show prints for some of their engagements. He put one on Facebook to commemorate their appearance and I messaged him, asking if he had copies so I could get one for ds. I told him ds was very hard to buy for, and even harder to surprise, and he would love to have this in his music room. Friend said sure, what was my address, wouldn't hear of letting me pay.
Well... Christmas came and went. No poster.
I messaged him again the day after Christmas, and asked, "Did you ever get any copies of that poster?"
He said, "I am so sorry! I forgot all about it. I will get it in the mail Monday!" I told him again I wanted to pay him, and he just said, "Nope."
But still -- no poster. Of course, Monday was the 29th and we've had a holiday this week, but I really wanted to get this for ds.
DS has no idea I asked the guy for it, so it will definitely be a surprise -- IF it ever arrives.
Well, dgd has called and wants me to come get her. See y'all later.

You are so wise.thankful for no drama or anger but just a calm discussion how this could happen again.

This is a good reminder. Somehow, I feel that I will be better able to "begin again" once the dgrands go back to school next week. I am also hoping that I will have more quiet time tomorrow, because dgd has in her mind that they are doing something as a family for her birthday, which got overlooked during Thanksgiving, with her mom having to work the weekend before and then the holiday and then all family except her (and me) going to the Iron Bowl the weekend after. She thinks they are going bowling.each month's beginning or even each week's beginning marks another perfectly good time to start or revisit goals, intentions, resolutions. It's nice to know when the planet makes a revolution around our favorite star, but it's doing it all the time, not just one of the days.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
I got the DAR application to the post office safely. I sure do I hope I remembered everything. Back upstairs, I've worked mostly on volunteer commitments. Today the temple office manager sent me the inspection notice for the backflow device - started to suggest she send it to the guy who is the chair but I'm not sure what he'd do with it. I called the company that does the maintenance at the cemetery - they're supposed to winterize it and the inspection was supposedly due by 12 February. So I verified that it is currently winterized and the lady at the maintenance company emailed the water co to ask them to reschedule it when it's not winterized. And I bit the bullet and called the guy who is the chair and left a message to talk to him. I need to air things out with him, and I might go as far as to ask if he wants me to take over.
And on the HOA, I finally got the invoice and accompanying email to say what I want. And I verified the email addresses. And I emailed the lady who is the admin for the Facebook page to ask why my post about HOA dues is still in pending there. And I looked at the website itself and emailed the lady who takes care of the website to ask her to make the needed changes in dues amounts to pay, and to make the email address changes, if any so I can access those changes. I looked to see if it was something I could access on my own and couldn't figure it out. So good progress. I'm ready to go through and do the actual invoices, not mail yet, but get them in the system.
Our supper is underway.

Re: Fabulous Friday PWYC
Actually spent 45 minutes on the porch and got all the interior work done.
While working on organizing more in the sewing room, I must have jostled some of the plastic project boxes. I wasn't even near them when they fell, but it was such a clatter HRH came running. Yipes. I decided that was a good stopping place, lol, and took some time to just embroider a while.
We had an Asian rice meal for supper. Quite good and very inexpensive to cut up all the veggies here at home as opposed to eating out.
