Good morning

I'm 3.5 hours into my day and it has mostly been smooth sailing with a few minor waves. The door fella showed up this morning after he dropped his kids off at school. I wasn't expecting him to come until this afternoon. We invited him in to drink a cup of coffee with DH while I took DD14 to school. I increased the amount of food that I made for breakfast, so we had enough to feed him too. Two doors are completed, and the third one is in progress.

It was an uncomfortable moment when DH announced he was heading to the local hardware and lumber store to get supplies for the door guy. I really hate having to discourage him from doing what he feels capable of. RR’s recent comments about the dangers of letting our DH drive hit home, and I knew I couldn’t keep allowing it. I told DH to hand his pickup keys to the door guy and let him drive instead. DH could ride in the passenger seat and take charge of paying for the supplies. DH accepted my recommendation without an attitude or drama. He simply handed his keys to the door fella and got into the passenger side of the pickup.

I'm going to have to modify how we handle cash. For years we have kept cash in our wallets to pay for incidentals. Now DH is struggling to count cash out when he pays for something. His hair cut was $15....he took a twenty out of his wallet and handed it pay. Then he took another $20 out of wallet and said that was tip. I didn't say anything but just observed. The next day we were at the grocery store and the total was $8. DH started counting cash out to pay for it and was up to $13 and still going before I stepped in and paid the $8.

Appliance repairman's conclusion... I'm not putting enough laundry into my large, front loading Sam sung. The machine put up an error code because it didn't want to spin without anything in the machine, even though there was a solitary bed sheet. Total cost $85. plus I gave him a $15 tip. I didn't have change for a $100 bill. Right now the sheet is in there along with some clothes and 6 towels, two of which are large and thick. So, no more small load unless they are heavy.

So happy that is dealt with easily.

Now I am waiting for PSW supervisor to call me for "a long list of questions" for us to answer.

The 3 new exterior doors project is complete. They look and function a bazillion times better, but nothing in a 60 year old home is perfect. I could have kept pointing out places to improve, but really.....these doors are used by teenagers and animals, so the chances are high they are not going to be gently used. I am thankful to have this project done.

I’ve gathered all the ingredients to make a couple of pans of enchiladas, and that will be Next Up.

Darn, darn, and drat!! When there was 40 minutes left to the cycle, the washing machine showed that "SE" error code again. I called the appliance guy and he said the pump must be too overheated to drain the water, so now he's looking for a pump and he will install it but he doesn't know when he'll be able to get it. (Not more than a few days at the most.) Approx. price inc. labour should be less than $200. Still better than buying a new machine. Oh, well...

I'm crying UNCLE
A/C unit is turned back on. I don't have the additional mental bandwidth to deal with it being 85 inside the house.
According to the weather people we have a high probability of getting thunderstorm with tornadoes in a couple days and then getting snow on Friday. If you don't like the weather here - just wait a moment and it will change.

Enchiladas are so easy to make and so pretty to look at. DH said they taste wonderful. I don't eat them because of the gluten. Although I did put the ingredients (other than flour tortillas) on top of a corn Tostadas for me to eat and thought it was very tasty.

I have an hour before picking up DD14 from school and taking her to her physical therapy appointment. While she’s there, I’ll walk to the nearby grocery store to pick up a few things. I could drive, but I enjoy the challenge of walking while carrying groceries—it keeps me mindful of others’ challenges. This time, I know what happens if I buy too much, so I’ll try to resist grabbing heavy items. I need sub sandwich bread for DS17’s lunches and lemon yogurt for DH’s breakfast, which will be easy to carry.

Nancy, you put me to work, lol, but now I think I'm a little more clear on it, too.

It continues making new lines show as dotted parts of the list started above it, not just indented. If you highlight a list with one of the other two list icons, you will get a dot at the first item only, although the rest will be indented, at least. But if you keep typing the asterisk icon in front of each of the other lines of the list, each one will have its own dot.

  • Here is a list
    and more
    and more
when the whole list is highlighted once with the FIRST list icon

  • Here is that same list
  • and more
  • and more
  • when EACH following line has the icon of the asterisk typed in front

  • Here is a list
    and more
    and more
when the whole list is highlighted once using the SECOND ("ordered") list

  1. Here is that same list
  2. and more
  3. and more
  4. when each following line has the asterisk in front AND you have typed a "1" behind the "list=" at the beginning

  1. Here is that same list
  2. and more
  3. and more
  4. when each following line has the asterisk in front AND you have typed an "a" behind the "list=" at the beginning

I think. :)

Was that a rabbit hole, Harriet?

I'm afraid I'm not being very productive this afternoon. Finding additional places to research in everything I've done so I'm looking at tax records in Jefferson Co. TN in 1826 right now, lol. Focus is off, perhaps having a busy day yesterday jinxed me - can't string together two in a row.
