Cathy reminds me of the word I'm forgetting, of course... .. indented! The icons above automatically indent text such as a list, something we can't do otherwise.

Good morning -- I think. It is so gloomy here, I can scarcely wake up. In fact, if I didn't have a therapy appointment coming up, I think I would deliberately take a nap in my chair. Kids are not up, and I can't blame them, even though this time next week, DC will need to be already on the way to class.

• I think I will stick with option-8 on my Mac for bullets; much easier. I will keep it in mind, though, if I ever have need to indent anything. :D

With this gloom, I am feeling very pro-procrastination. I know this will not fly during my therapy appointment -- we are trying to get me to actually accomplish the things on my brain dump list. Actually, I did pretty well since my last appointment, particularly considering that I did not put any holiday preparation on that list, and it still needed to be done besides. I've gotten enough done that it's time for a revision/new list. Maybe I'll work on that before my appointment -- or maybe I'll work on my half-finished grocery list.

They did come yesterday to install the new internet. We have a new hole in the wall with a new modem and a new router. I'm slightly annoyed that they're two separate pieces of equipment and thus take up more room than our old one. I've gotten most things (at least that I can think of; I'm worried I may be forgetting something) switched over. The DVR was a bit of a pain; the instructions online didn't work, but I kept noodling around till I found something that did. But DH's iPad is unhappy. I found a troubleshooting guide for that, and the first thing was to make sure your OS was up to date -- turns out DH's was about 8 versions out of date! So he upgraded overnight; I'll have to see when he comes home if that helped any. It could be trouble with the router, though. The app says there is trouble, and while there's no blinking light on the front of the router, one of the two amber lights by the ethernet connection in the back is blinking. But other than DH's tablet, everything is connecting properly, and I don't want to mess with it until we have everything else squared away.

Hugs to Cathy and blessed on family troubles and to anyone else who needs them for any reason.

What's the LZ, Nancy?

I think I will work on the grocery list and will plug in the computer so it has charge for my appointment. Oh! And I need to check to see if there's room enough in the playroom for me to sit for my appointment. We had to move my desk in there to get it out of the way of the internet installation.

I might be back later, but I wouldn't count on it. ;) Have a great day, everyone!

bw2, the "webmaster' is the gal who is the chair of the social committee. She does this for a living, and several years ago she took it upon herself to make a website on behalf of the social committee. IMHO she's a bit of an airhead, perhaps I think that only because she has plumped up lips and the "Stepford wives" mentality. I've offered to do some of the simple functions, since I have access to the workings of the website, but she hasn't had the time to teach me, lol.

Five for the day:
-HOA work I didn't do yesterday, plus make a deposit on my phone.
-Figure out if I made notes re: camp scholarship
-review maybe a 100 more pages of tax records from 1822 forward.
-watch/listen to a webinar - 45 min
-15 min in garage straighten up/clean up

Supper tonight is grilled steak (found in back of freezer, needs to be used!) butternut squash, broccoli.

Good morning

((((Cathy)))) it isn't easy to go through the process of realizing our DH are not able to do things that they could in the past.

I struggle with this on almost a daily basis. DH has always been a better cook than me, but now he can't remember how to prepare a meal. He wants to be involved so I try to find ways for him to do things. I will prepare a meal all the way to the last 2 minutes of cooking and ask DH "Would you finish up cooking this meal?" He jumps at the chance to cook even though all he is doing is watching the meal finish cooking. It gives him a feeling of normal and of accomplishment.

I put 26 items in my cart at Sam's and pressed the button to pick it up at 1pm today. I prefer to go inside and select the items myself but all these 26 items were packaged/can/bottles so there wasn't any selection to be done. Before getting the curbside order loaded I will run inside the store and get fresh fruit/vegetables and a rotisserie chicken. I don't know why but if I buy a rotisserie chicken through curbside order it will go bad within 24-48 hours. It is like it is left setting out too long somewhere in that curbside order process.

The last time I was with DSis she made a point of establishing and explaining her superior ways of shopping. She has never ordered anything online, never done an instacart or doordash type service, or curbside order and has no intention of doing so. She considers it second rate way of shopping.
I listened to her go on about her better way of shopping like always while smiling and nodding. DSis wasn't interested in my opinion so I didn't give it. I'm okay if she shops better ways than me. Because it is not acceptable in her eyes, I won't tell her that I order things online nearly every day and don't have any problem with doing curbside orders.
DSis is happy with her shopping process while I am happy to get my shopping done the quickest and easiest way I can.
I consider it a WIN WIN .....as long as DSis doesn't know.

Hmmm... I might have been a bit "hangry" when I wrote my first post today. Before I wrote the second one I had made myself a delicious tuna and mayo sandwich and it seems to have disappeared!!

The dishwasher got emptied and refilled and now it's doing it's thing. Two pots and 2 pans have been washed with another 2 pans now in the sink having a bubble bath along with the large utensils. Last night's glass dish that had the fish in it has been emptied and now it's got some hot water in it while it waits on the counter.

I've also had a chocolate bar, a hot chocolate and part of a small bottle of Sprite.

Dh told me he had all of the home made chip dip on crackers before he went to bed last night. He apologized for eating the dip and he said he didn't know what it was until this morning.

We are having spaghetti and meatballs for supper tonight. The stove is clean and waiting for me.

LZ = Landing Zone aka hot spot by the kitchen / carport entrance.

LM/ I so admire your ability to do all those fast and more efficient ways of shopping! WTG! On not arguing I'm still working on that. LOL!
I just call it old school vs new tech. ways of doing it.
I used to get pizza delivered for special occasions back in the day before they called it door dash [ mostly b/c I do not want to do
the password phone app. stuff. ]

I shop inside b/c of the steps and ways I have people & community contact. Wish I could do curb side but I just an not that patient.
I like to pick and choose and see touch and feel stuff. Just diff. not better or worse. Like fabrics and see if plants are up to what I want
in quality.

I do Amz. once a mo. or seasonally mostly for office supplies.
[Did not like the yarns have to see and feel that to get the right ones even when I
know the brands. Dang.]

CI /
  • bag & box up creche
    & tree take to basement
Done.

I do Instacart as well, although I do go to the grocery now and then. When dh first retired he would go for me, I think he's decided it's more trouble than it's worth because I have to give him explicit examples of what to buy, and then he wants to know my reasoning. (A gallon of milk is less expensive than two half-gallons. Yes, but I don't use a gallon fast enough to warrant it, plus we have almond milk, cold brew coffee, and creamers all together and there's not room if there's a gallon there...) Dh likes to go to Costco but usually brings home some unneeded/unwanted items.

I deposited some checks online, but there's a 6K daily limit for deposits, so I could only do seven checks at $850 each. And there's a 10K limit per month on online deposits so I'll hit that soon. And will have to go to bank to deposit. And I found a check without a signature...will email and ask him to come by to sign it... big eye roll, it's always something. And I have a printout now so I can verify that all invoices were sent. When they go one by one, I worry about losing focus and skipping one.

Called cemetery board chair, he was in Dr. office and needed to call me back. Got a copy of temple bylaws with respect to cemetery also.

-HOA work I didn't do yesterday, plus make a deposit on my phone.
-Figure out if I made notes re: camp scholarship no notes, need to go back to dh to discuss...
-review maybe a 100 more pages of tax records from 1822 forward.
-watch/listen to a webinar - 45 min

My life now includes asking DH questions such as "Do you want to wear your PJ's when we go to the city?"
He put jeans and a vest over the top of PJ s this morning. I try to be mindful on what I say and stay focused on his safety, health & happiness. If we were staying home today, I wouldn't mention his clothing selection.
When i asked DH the question he looked down at his clothing and seemed surprised that he was still wearing PJ's. He immediately went and changed.

I am trying a few different methods of washing the dishes to find out what works best for me. No surprise on which method I am finding success with. I know myself well enough that if it takes more than 5 minutes then I'm going to procrastinate. Even with keeping the kitchen clean and dishes done, I definitely prefer small actions done consistently. I would rather hand wash a few dishes multiple times a day and immediately dry/put them away than face a big stack of dirty dishes to do all at once.
