Getting all my own documents ready to go to the meeting. Printed copies of things. My notes from the last meeting - I don't think anyone is acting as secretary.

I saw a FBook post for a spice cake box mix where you add 4 apples and 3 eggs and mil and cinnamon. We had some apples that weren't in great shape, so I chopped them up and the cake just came out of the oven. Mmmm...
Blessedw2 sometimes stinky cheese with onions just hit the spot if it's something someone craves. I'm sure people walk into my house after I've made Indian food and they might think it stinks, but it certainly made dh and I happy last night.
It feels so weird to not have any laundry going for the second weekend in a row. Appliance guy is back from his vacation and he hopes the part will be ready to be installed by Tuesday.
Dh is napping on the couch. I made the chili for him and I put some aside for me before I added the second package of chili seasoning. I also waited to add the mushrooms until I had put mine aside. I don't care for too many mushrooms.

I have quite a few left over choices for meals today
lunch / pea soup meat loaf & green beans
dinner / rotisserie chicken to de bone and separate & freeze up some of it.
Read a chapter in a book for qt type reading.
Then some in home work book got some q's for notes that I could not answer lol!
I think stirred up more q's than answers.
s2s happened.
Had a good talked with dsis.
Planned & put that stuff away.
-----
Had lunch & cleaned up after kitchen is spiffy now.
We have a few flakes of snow before it melted here.
Went outside & picked up after the doggo had to put on my big coat.
De-boned the chicken cooked it in some water for broth to do soup or what ever in tomorrow.
-----
Will resume my virtual writing retreat tomorrow as it's a holiday and cold out still.
And I have chapters to edit. I can do one or two at a time then I need a break for my brain.

I finally made the switch from just reading, watching videos, researching and learning about fermenting to doing my first one. It was so incredibly easy to prepare - only 3 ingredients and two of those ingredients are salt & water. Now there is nothing to do but watch & wait for several days.
I made Honey BBQ chicken and baked potatoes for the family. I also made a big pot of my favorite type of soup. I always run out of space before I run out of ingredients to put into this soup (meat & vegetables). I had to put pinto beans and cabbage back into the freezer because there was no room for them. I might have been a little too free with the multiple kinds of pepper.... cayenne, chipotle, paprika, jalapeno all went into the soup pot. I haven't eaten any of the soup yet so I don't know how spicy it is. Maybe it will help keep me warm in the cold temperatures?

The soup sounds yummy, LadyM, and I'm glad you're trying fermentation. We have a friend who recommends it but I never had a taste for sour kraut myself. He says it super easy.
Meeting went well and we made decisions.
The beef and barley stew smells great in the crockpot.

Hello, everybody!
It's been a slow day here. Since we had to go out to church this morning, I'm wearing two layers against the bitter cold. It won't be fun when I'm changing for bed and get down to no layers! Fortunately, I have a fleece nightgown to change into.
Last night's party was nice, if subdued. It was just the couple hosting, their adult son, the two of us, the mom of one of the Scouts, and the father of another. His is the family our church sponsored to come over from Ukraine. So it was interesting conversing with him and mutually learning about each other's cultures. We got to talking about gardening, since when the couple's son arrived, he had chased away a deer in the yard, so we were talking about what the deer do to everyone's gardens, and the Ukrainian dad was was saying how odd he thought it was that nobody seemed to have fruit trees. Apparently, at least in his part of Ukraine, everybody's got at least one fruit tree in the yard, and there is much sharing/swapping/canning when the fruit comes in season. He also said families having greenhouses/cold frames was much more common there.
Today, it's been church, then brunch, then DH wanted to play a game, after which I was a little bit at loose ends until I remembered the Popin Cookie kits DD got me for Christmas. They consist of candy powders and such to which you add colors and flavorings, usually ending up with what looks like a miniature meal: one is hamburger, fries and a Coke, another is sushi, all made out of candy. I made the simplest of the kits I got; it just makes gummy candy. So I made that, played a game on the computer, and came here. Soon it will be time for our weekly Chinese dinner. Hmm... we have maraschino cherries that the kids got to make Shirley Temples -- 7up had Shirley Temple flavored pop out for the holidays, and it got them on a kick -- and I'm pretty sure we have oranges; I could make Old Fashioneds. The whole Chinese dinner on Sunday nights thing was his grandparents' tradition; they'd have Chinese and Old Fashioneds. It's been a while since we had Old Fashioneds with our Chinese. I don't know if we have any Canadian whisky, though. I suppose I could make mine with bourbon and his with Scotch.
All your dinners sound yummy, too! We could have a buffet! (Although I might feel a little self-conscious over just serving takeout.)
Tomorrow should be a nice day; everyone will be home again for MLK Day. I like having my family around me; as much as I wish my kids were more independent, I like having them at home. Of course, given rents these days, they could be very independent and still need to live at home.
I doubt I'll be back today, so even though it's still fairly early, I will wish you all sweet dreams!

This afternoon our temperatures got up to 62F with bright sunshine and no wind. It felt good being outside. While the weather was so nice I got the vehicle filled with gas.
I made 8 smoothies so my food for the week is mostly prepped. usually I make 6 at a time but for whatever reason I got out 8 jars so I just went with it. There isn't anything that will spoil (yogurt based) so it should be fine. I add the fruit on top when I am ready to eat it.
DH is at elder meeting. I don't know how long he will be able to attend, but so far it is working out okay. They have added another elder to replace DH responsibilities, but they continue to list him as an elder.

Dd27's visit lasted for much more of my day than I'd thought. We enjoyed a trip out together to eat and browsing Michael's, although we only bought a practical clear glue for glass, so that she could make a repair to a colored glass gift here that arrived with a part broken off. Gorilla brand makes a clear glue for glass that Michael's carries and she didn't want to use anything else. I was inclined to go with her plan because she's the gallery hanging person and the glass-art person in the family.
Back home she made that repair and also clipped Tobias' claws for him. We had brought take-out for her Dad and had dessert with him here.
No local change to report on Michael's potential stocking of any fabric at all, not even precuts. We saw many aisles with usual hanging displays just being changed from seasonal items, but no hint of opening up space to bring in cutting tables or changing to shelving that would work for fabric bolts.
Mystery, that's interesting about sharing of fruit harvests. Once I had fruiting plum trees in what is now ddolder's yard but they didn't have a long life. My ddad's apple trees here succumbed to a disease that I believe was called cedar rust (?) decades ago. My truck-farming cousin has a new-ish orchard and I believe I've heard he has been very pleased with first harvests. HRH has been telling him his pear trees are looking good, and if pears are healthy apples should be, too. He has to be vigilant about fencing because of deer, yes.
I was pleased to see an advert for Park Seed. I'd begun to think they weren't that interested in my business anymore, lol. They were bragging again about their seeds even sprouting in space ( sent some to the space station ? ), so that made me smile, remembering that project news from their catalog years back.
