You gals have covered the prep. stuff really well.
One thing I did was to bring terra cotta planters in this winter ~
I saw how three candles could provide heat and could be used for cooking.
I have a tote of camping hear in the shed it has propane stove more like a grill the kind with small bottles.
If you have a grill it can be used for cooking out doors of course but you could bundle up.
I have pouches of meat and tins in pop top lids that do not need to be cooked.
Peanut butter for sandwiches. Boil up eggs ahead of time.
Get out cozy and warm clothes gloves big coats, blankets.
My dsis had a wood stove our cousin and his son bruoght a load of wood
and she has a wood spiltter power machine, if one has a fire place like my son having wood
it a good thing. My son has a smoker and a wood stove in his big shop so putting up
something to contain the heat would be a great idea.
We have pup heaters too! LOL!
You gals are rocking it with ideas here.
Most of the things I thought of last nite were already mentioned.
Pack a "go bag" with Rx clothes journal could help.
Praying for you all.
Got frustrated with my sock knitting again sigh the 4th needed keeps coming out! Gr-r!
Had to have a break.

Sitting in dentist waiting room while monitoring the sounds from dental office hoping DH get through this appt. Today he can't remember anything told him for longer than a few moments.
I tell him where we are going when we get into vehicle. On the way he will ask where we are going..
Hopefully he will stay sitting in dental chair while they are fixing a cavity.

If you can treat it like an adventure.
In door campout! Card
Some ideas if you have room put up a small tent.
[It keeps in body heat.]
It will be memorable for smaller & younger members of the family.
Take stuffys & games.
If not you could put a blanket over the table or around chairs and a couch.
Just for fun do crackers and snacky type foods and the kids will have a blast!
Remember to check & see if boots & gloves / mittens that fit.
The snow is a treat for those in regions that it rarely falls.
Make cinnamon rolls ahead, or special pancakes for kiddos.
Other family fav.s could be added.
Tell great stories of things you remember having fun doing
when you were a kid.

Dh and I are used to the snow. We welcome it for various reasons. We also welcome cold temperatures, because the cold will kill some bugs, like mosquitoes! On a different note, the extreme cold is necessary for local vineyards to produce Ice wine. I love Ice wine.
Dh used to be able to "rough it" and he knows how to deal with power outages and was quite capable at building a fire, etc.
Today it's cold in the house because it's windy and it has started to snow. He's in bed under 2 blankets and he's a bit "out of it". He says he's not feeling well but can't describe it. He wanted to know what food poisoning is like. I asked him a couple of questions and ruled that out. Headache? Nope. Cold? Yes. Tired? No.
Sigh...
I might get a fire going shortly.
Today I have been catching up on the dishes. Pots and pans are all done. I just need to fill the dishwasher and do the large utensils.
Shortly after I posted this... dishwasher is almost full so I can turn it on after supper.

Finally home to stay for a couple of hours. DH did well at the dentist office with no problems. ***big sigh of relief***
I made lunch for us both. My lunch was favorite soup. I warmed up a plate of 3 ready-to-eat dishes plus a green salad for DH. He is always so appreciative when i do something for him.
On days like today when i am out of the house for many hours, there is no way to stay up with my hourly doings. I'm okay with that. I just start where I am (Noon) and go forward from there. If there is extra time available, I can choose to do a few of the missed cards.....or not.

Overhead door fella is here working on 2 of the 4 overhead doors. Parts are going to be needed so he will have to order and come back to do final repairs. In the meantime, all the doors will go up and down which is important with cold weather coming.
Jesse was so frustrated with repairing his pickup that he nearly threw his hands up and quit. He came into the house, talked through his frustration, and eventually felt ready to give it another try.
