Good morning

Cathy - Elderberry syrup is a tried and true home remedy! Thanks for sharing that

I'm on hour #4 of my day. Everything has been normal (one of my favorite words!) and pathway steps are happening.

One of DH lifelong friends called last night to invite him to spend today with him at county livestock show. DH accepted the invitation. I was surprised that DH agreed to go and was tentatively looking forward to having some time all to myself. I had an unvoiced concern that this friend wouldn't keep a close eye on DH and he would get lost going to the bathroom or something simple like that. I was trying to remain optimistic that DH could have an outing with DFriend. I have grown used to monitoring DH 24/7 and know how constant of a demand it is. ANYway, DH changed him mind this morning and called DFriend to cancel.

Good morning! No ta-das here yet; just took DC to classes. Watched late-night shows while/after eating breakfast. Usually we watch John Oliver on Mondays since there's no late night show from the previous night, but for some reason, we didn't -- DD was probably late getting downstairs. So we watched it this morning.

Once I'm back with DC and have a large block of time free, I'm going to work on getting DD insurance. First try will be to see if she can buy on the exchange without Medicaid -- her previous try on the exchanges, she got the message that she might be eligible for Medicaid, and they submitted her information. Well, we still haven't heard back yet, and her enrollment window is closing. If she gets denied for Medicaid, apparently the window will open up again, but right now, she has no insurance, and I'm pretty sure we missed the date to enroll for coverage starting March 1, so even if I get her signed up today, she won't have coverage till April 1. If we got her a short-term plan, it would start immediately, but it wouldn't cover any pre-existing conditions. Anyhow, if she can't get something on the exchanges today, I'm going to have her enroll in insurance off the exchanges now, even if she has to wait for coverage. This has just been weighing on me.

I have a couple of other things from my previous to-do list to finish before I create my new to-do list. I need to get the daybed made; I need to get the girls to go through a couple of bags of things we got when Joann's closed, sort their stuff from one another and put it away (I have to admit, I think I have a skein of yarn of my own in there), and I need to lean on DC to submit the last of their information needed to enroll in road lessons -- I've already paid for them, but they can't schedule until the school has proof that they've done the online class.

When I think that at DC's age, I had a degree, a job and a car that I'd paid for with that job and was paying my mother rent, and when I was DD's age, I was beyond that, planning my wedding, I feel like I've failed the kids. I'm not the only one of my friends with kids who have failed to launch, but it still bothers me.

Glad Cathy's headache is better, and I hope blessed's subsides quickly.

Glad Matilda had a good vet visit, Kittykatt, and I envy you your weather. We have more snow here, and a bit below 0°C, and it's not a rare surprise like it is for Nancy!

Hope your body work gets all the kinks out, Twins.

I'm sorry your DH backed out on the trip to the show, LadyM.

Time to go pick up DC. Will stop for gas on the way home -- I'm below half a tank, and the price looked good. Oh! Almost forgot to share with you my laugh for the morning. When I was waiting to get on the highway, the car in front of me was a BMW with a license plate that said I H8 BMWS. Go figure! See you later with some accomplishments, I hope.
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

Elderberry - ddil used to give the syrup for gifts, very nice and helpful, too.

Mystery, years (and years) ago, I predicted that we would someday say to our televisions, "television, show me such-and-such program now" and the television would do it. I wish I'd written the date of my prediction down, or told lots of people, or, hey, made a bet on it, lol. Now, it is so common to watch what we choose on our own timetables. I think the conversation I was having at the time had to do with 7 o'clock evening church events and 7 o'clock evening family programming, so it was likely when ddolder joined my late dh and myself in being required for so many evening practices and services. About launching, I left home way yonder too early, so I see your homelife as a very good model - you're fine!

Kittykatt's positive vet visit is a pleasant bit of news. It reminds me of my ddad's ability to quickly give dogs their shots with so little hassle. I'd only be responsible to get their attention, really, and it was over. I suppose I held them somewhat.

TaDa is cleaning in the den.

Later, some sewing.

Harriet remember when the promise of commercial free TV was what cable was supposed to be! LOL!

I've fetched the can back from the road & checked the mail on two diff. trips for the steps today!
It's a bit wet to put branches for next week's pick up so that has to wait.
I did chop up a zucchini for meals later too early to cook em up.

Did a bit of processing and writing rested my eyes too.

It's a good reminder how staying up late effects my days!
Had lunch.
Later knitting for me.

TOTALLY SKIPPABLE....
DS17 had his first exit interview from his first "real" job yesterday. He thought it was just to pick up his final check and turn in uniforms. He wasn't prepared for the questions and might had responded differently if he had time to think about it beforehand. ANYway, they asked why he quit and answered because he got a $3.50 hourly increase and more hours. They asked why he was not working full time and he answered truthfully that he was sent home when they were having a slow day. They asked why he was sent home since he was lowest paid employee and answered truthfully that decision was made by the manager. They asked if he would come back to work there if they raised his wages and hours to meet his new job and he answered truthfully....No, because I don't like being around pot and online gambling happening.
Apparently, the owner didn't know that was happening and is not pleased AT ALL. Learning that information on the same day the employees did $$$$ damage to a customer vehicle by putting motor oil in transmission of a vehicle. They told DS17 that drug testing of employees was going to happen asap and changes were going to be made to the usage of the company computer equipment.
Should DS17 answered the exit interview questions so truthfully? If he had time to think about the way he worded his answers, it might of been different. Hum....it is a 2 edge sword. The owner should of known what was happening. DS17 considered some of his previous coworkers to be friends, but I'm doubtful they think kindly of DS17 now.

LadyM, I hope and, frankly, assume, that the person doing this exit interview is professional and intelligent enough to keep ds' remarks completely confidential. And, if there were already suspicions, which seems likely, then there are many reasons for coworkers to think this couldn't have continued.

Medicare came up again in our house. But that is for another thread.

Feeling cold here. The smoothie I have on the menu plan is not happening. Warm foods, warm foods, lol.

Btw, in the realm of real problems rather than my trivial ones, dd27 says her friends/coworkers in NYC are all still snowed in.

Ramblin', how are your family members doing?

I take an elderberry supplement daily, it's supposed to boost the immune system.

Nancy, I got our trash out this morning too, and they had come through while I was out. It's back in now. Also ran into the mail truck and got it at same time, just as I got home. Surprise snow day sounds fun!

Nice to hear all is normal today, LadyM. It would have been great to have some time with dh safely out of the house, tho.

Mystery, I don't know why insurance is so complicated. My dsis was on medicaid. And I know the feeling with kids "failing to launch." Ours got through college then spent a couple more years here at home before we had to move them out. By that point, they were working and could share an apartment. And grandkids - all my contemporaries are showing off grandchildren and here we are with 33 y/o kids "without prospects."

Waving to Harriet with her sewing pursuits.

LadyM I think that the way he answered the questions was great. He was open and truthful to whomever was asking and if his former co-workers were smoking pot, they aren't the type your dson should want as friends as his life moves forward.

I had a nap earlier. Then I was on the computer for a while. I also sprayed more vinegar on the bottom of the oven and added a bit more baking soda. I went back to bed and read for a while. When I got up from that, I was waiting for the water to come to a boil so I could have a hot tea and I wiped off the bottom of the oven. MOST of the mess came up. I wiped a second time with a wet paper towel and the rest of the mess from last night came off and some older baked on mess also came off.

Now I am catching up with my friends here and drinking my hot tea.

I have looked outside the snow is gone now.

It's still cloudy & foggy out today, I cannot see the top of the mountains hills around me
at the moment.
Got more laundry put away from yesterday.
I was in no hurry after I saw we had rain fro two days.
Sun is trying to come out now.
For tonite they have sun clouds and rain on the forecast icon!
I agree with what CathyS. said.
