☀️Good morning!

Thanks for the start, kittykatt. It seems most creative types and geniuses have some form of a “mental disorder” (not really sure what to call it). Are citizens required to have a smart phone in some instances? There is a variety of types of phones here, at least there were last time I shopped for one. I know there is a kids version where parents can limit and monitor use, and a basic type with no apps.

Helia, I love that you have some strong bonds with friends.

French, I know you will work it out and nobody will have time to critique anything with all the fun happening.

Trissie, you can’t get much further south than I am lol. I never had sugar in cornbread until I was an adult and ate it at a restaurant. We didn’t eat sweet cornbread at home. My mil and my brothers’ mil were very old time country cooks and they didn’t sweeten their cornbread. It’s ok with some meals, greens or bbq. I prefer just cornmeal mix, egg and buttermilk for my own recipe. If I want to make a heartier cornbread, I sometimes add cheese, bacon pieces, corn or creamed corn, chopped jalapeño, whatever sounds good, cracklings are popular in old timey households… I saw a recipe for cornbread sandwiches with ham and cheese and those are good too if you can get the cornbread thin enough for a sandwich and where it doesn’t fall apart. Saltine crackers with soups is good in a pinch if I don’t want to make cornbread. (Not with creamy soups). lol at the kids tastes, good luck pleasing everyone!

LAnn, we like corn chips or tortilla chips with our chili, plus sour cream and cheese, yum.

Dogged, what are you lining your pads with? I didn’t know there was such a thing. That would help me with Tux my senior.

It’s raining today so catching up on some taped shows w dh for now.

We had a good Saturday. For planner at some point:
Dailies
Donation drop off
Lunch at Sonic
Hollywood -
Drop off some items
Move furniture around
Davon shut water off so pipes wouldn’t freeze
Lock front and back door as someone has been snooping and stealing stuff off the property
New cats and pregnant ones - B said someone dropped them off??? Ugh :| Told her they ALL have to be sterilized and she agreed…
Someone took gas out of sil’s suv
Someone stole dh’s trailer spare and left a shredded smaller tire in its place
Someone stole 8’ ladder off shed
That’s all she is missing so far. She did see a small black truck pull out of driveway one day as she was pulling in but didn’t get a good look
Apparently a crackhead lives 2-3 doors down so may be them
Need to get cameras
Supper at Netts

Good morning/ good afternoon, FFB, Trissie, L.Ann, Helia and Bama!

FFB, I'm glad you had a good time with the neighbours. Is there room in your garden to have everyone eat outside? (When the weather is better, of course! :D ) We often have BBQs in people's back gardens, or, if that doesn't appeal, then our annual street party has morphed over the years from a full "afternoon tea" ( think sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls, cake , cheese and pineapple on sticks, cocktail sausages and cups of tea) to more "snacky" type food and prosecco (with plenty of nosecco for those of us who don't drink alcohol).

WTG with the progress on your veggie patch, Trissie. I hope to get a chance to spend more time in your garden today.

L.Ann, I'm sorry your friend couldn't walk with you today - I know how much you enjoy your time together. Yikes on needing a mouse trap!!

Safe travels, Helia!

Bama, no one can be made to have a smart phone over here, it's just what most people have, so institutions tend to assume everyone has them, even though that, of course, is t the case. And in all fairness to DF E's phone company, they have sent her another Doro (updated version of a "traditional" phone that just does calls and texts, and has big buttons, and is supposed to be senior friendly. ) But, at 100 yo, DF E has started to struggle with any change, as it takes time and energy to master eg a new coffee maker when you've had the old one for 30+ years. But the manager at the retirement complex with give her one-to- one tuition on her new phone tomorrow, so I think then she'll hopefully get the hang of it!

To answer everyone's burning question, today's lunch menu was roast chicken, roast potatoes, gravy, carrots and peas, Savoy cabbage, tossed in butter and black pepper, and creamed leeks, followed by chocolate crème. :D

Jude has decided to commandeer my lap this afternoon, so not much has got done!

I don't think I got here yesterday. Day began with MrVKM coming before breakfast - because I had left my purse in his car and he delivered it back to me. So I fixed him OJ, coffee, fresh grapes, and some of my freshly made cardamon bread. He continued on to do his errands, then I headed to a large funeral at our church. Didn't get back home until 230.
Did a quick mile walk (I walked very fast because I didn't have much time but wanted to get it in!) then headed to Hobby Lobby for a few things that were on this week's sale flyer that I wanted.
MrVKM returned (! he lives 30 miles away) and took me out for supper, then we came back to my house for dessert - I had baked brownies, yum.
That pretty much filled my day.
I once said that he and I were so different, that nothing could develop, but it seems that he likes to see me regularly and often, and I like that. He is very nice to be with. It fills a void in my life.

BAma, those are real bummers about the thefts! So sorry to hear :(

Today
Church and coffee hour afterwards
Restaurant leftovers for lunch today
1 LOL ready for dryer and another LOL sorted to go in
Then
Go for a walk - it's a beautiful day, nearly 60F! Maybe do some spring raking?
Unload DW, and load it with what has accumulated in the sink
Talk to ds and fmaily - dgson is home from University for spring break; I'd like to see him

Gma, it’s really nice to see you enjoying life and having a VKM to share it with.

Kitty, lunch sounds delicious! I’ve added cabbage to my grocery list. And asked dh to get a roasted chicken for supper tonight. Thanks for clearing up the phone info for me.

LAnn, I enjoy spicy sometimes, but always enjoy jalapeño cornbread.

I haven’t done much yet today so need to remedy that. Dh got us breakfast, we watched some shows, now he’s gone to get some groceries and I need to tackle dailies. The days will be getting longer now with dst and I’m excited to get more done. I love winter and cold weather but the darkness makes me want to hibernate. I love sleep but it’s counterintuitive to my to do list!

To Do:
Pet chores
