Good afternoon!

Happy Birthday to LordM!

I started a post earlier today, but then I dozed off. I had to get up early to take DD to an early appointment on the far side of town. The appointment went well, and we were even able to get her labs with a very short wait. I handed over my credit card for payment; the doctor's office took $100 and said they'd bill the rest. The lab didn't take anything -- they said they'd see if they could get her a discount and then bill. I really wish we'd hear on the insurance. It worries me sick that she's without; Heaven forbid anything should happen!

I've got book club tonight. We're getting takeout and meeting at one of the women's houses. I'm getting Lebanese -- yum, tabbouli! The book turned out not to be so bad -- I don't know if the writing got better or if I just got used to it.

Other than that, nothing new around here. I should be working on my cards, but nap happened. Now I'm going to have lunch, then throw some wash in after. Have a great day, everybody!
I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

Telephone calls wishing him HB continue to happen for DH. I can tell he is getting mentally tired from them because his confusion is increasing. I considered taking DH to a friend group meeting for lunch today, but I suspect it would overwhelm him. The two requirements that I use to guide me in these decisions are....is he safe?....is he happy? He has about reached the full mark of social interaction capability today, so I'm not going to put him in a situation that would require more than he can feel comfortable doing. He just told me that he needs a nap....which is unusual for him to sleep during the day. He has totally enjoyed the calls and visits so I am going to let that be enough and not take him to do lunch with friends.

While cooking breakfast I also cooked two dishes for the ready-to-eat tub. It seems boring to cook the same thing a couple times a week, but these proteins are always the first thing to be chosen the moment they are put in the selection of dishes. Hamburger patties. BBQ chicken.

Today dh and I took the metal recycling to the metal recycling place. I also moved a lot of flower pots to another area of the back yard. I also moved the 2 piece cement bird bath and the lonely birdbath top that we have had for many years. It used to have a wooden base but that rotted many years ago. Now it will be on the ground under where one of the hoses gets hung up. Now when I am sitting on the patio and looking at the back of the house, it looks nicer. I just have a few terra cotta pots to put somewhere. It was 22 Celcius here earlier. That is truly a promise that spring and summer are on the way!!

I went to the post office while I was out for hair appointment. When the girl was drying my hair (she just puts product in and scrunches) she said, "I can tell there's rain in the air. When I try to move your curls, they say, 'Nope, this is how we're going to do.'" LOL. I told her, like Roseanne Roseannadanna, sometimes I just have to say, "Never mind." (That's what hair clips and messy buns are for.)

So I'm home and I've been on the computer since I got here... cleared out a bunch of junk emails. Instead of deleting, I need to start sending those to spam, or taking time to unsubscribe.
LOL -- spent some time reading an organization thing about -- get this -- Reclaiming Your Time. SMH...

DS came over to check the bucket under the most recent leak and there is NOTHING in the bucket! And we had a lot of rain yesterday. Apparently, the rain has to come from just exactly the right (wrong?) direction for it to cause the leak. And this is one reason it is so difficult to fix. DS said whatever had accumulated the night he put the bucket up there had evaporated.

Nancy, my TBR pile is awfully high too. Right now I'm reading on my Kindle app on the phone -- His First Girlfriend. It's a mystery and it's getting pretty tense. The boy's mother is (I think) being gaslit and she thinks someone has hired a hitman to kill her. Her college-age son has a girlfriend who is acting pretty suspicious. The mother also has some pretty big secrets about her own past, so it's a really tangled web. But I can't put it down. I read last night instead of paying attention to Tales of Wells Fargo, LOL!

I can imagine LordM is tired, but happy, to be receiving so many good wishes! I told the beautician today that I bet I talk more than the rest of her clients combined. She laughed and said definitely not, but that she herself was one of those students who every teacher wrote on her report card "talks too much." She said especially when she has had a full day and the shop is full with conversations at every chair all day, she does have to have some quiet time when she gets home, but that she enjoys talking to her clients.
* I also began today to tip her. The wash, trim, and dry is $35 and I just gave her two 20s. I have never been in the habit of tipping, but something tells me I should do better, so I'm going to try to do that from now on.
Also while I was waiting, there was a lady in her chair who used to work at the gas station just down from my house. I taught her two children AND her husband! So we enjoyed catching up a little bit.

Mystery -- talking about dozing off -- After the roofer called at 7:44, and the insurance man at 8:56, I went back to bed after the insurance man left. I got about another hour's sleep before I got up to get ready for the hair cut appt. (I d2s when the insurance man arrived, but I did not put on make-up till I started to town.)

CostumeLady -- I think dh had problems with statins also -- the muscle aches and things. I don't think he ever had memory problems.
I wonder if my dmom is taking any statins. I don't think so. She does have problems remembering names/words sometimes.

Nancy -- (((Hugs))) as you are thinking of your dsis today.

Twins -- I know I am eligible for DAR -- a cousin is a member and has offered to help me fill out the papers, but I am not going to. We do not have a local chapter; she goes to another town about 45 minutes away, and I know if I joined, I'd have to be going with her all the time. I like her, but I also like her sister-in-law who is a cousin of dh's. These two are like oil and water, and I just do not want to get involved. My sympathies lie with the sister-in-law, but the less said, the better.

Cathy, the turkey sounds good. Hmmm... I still have one portion of chicken and dressing from Thanksgiving. I may have that for supper tonight.

LadyM -- I have to agree -- homeschooling did NOT harm your ds' social skills at all!!! LOL. He just amazes me.

I should try out my vacuum cleaner. I haven't even tried it since I had it repaired.

There is no TRY, right? Okay -- I will do at least 15 minutes with the vacuum cleaner. Here I go --->

---> And I'm back -- 28 minutes gets all the hard floors in the main area of the house. Den/dining room/bathroom/kitchen and laundry room.
Vacuum cleaner seems fine with its new filter and fresh cleaning!
Tomorrow is another day.

Got some village housekeeping done in SHE's in the Kitchen forum. I'd spent many months not catching on that the current topic was really Kathryn's previously locked welcome-only topic. So, I don't know how it became postable, but I pulled the original out and made it the locked welcome again. All the current posts are in the 2026 topic now. (Yay, didn't lose any.)

Was able to contact the tax preparer and explained the very slight error I'd found. We agreed on an appt time and HRH and I went out to that, plus lunch. Again, thoroughly enjoyed some time with her, seeing more of her new home and the interesting ways she's enjoying her new space. So happy for her. Lunch was good, although too filling.

Sending quiet happy birthday day wishes to the LadyM household! Hope the nap is restoring and restful!

We are having storms with tornados again. My state averages 68 tornadoes a year so this is normal weather for us. This storm is round #3 for us in 2026. The first 2 resulted in several deaths in our state. Hopefully people will take cover, and no more lives will be lost. I really don't like seeing my DNephew posting as a storm chaser tonight. He is wise, smart and knowledgeable so hopefully he won't take any chances. DS17 is about 20 miles from home so I've sent him text to remain weather wise and have a plan where to take cover if needed. According to the current storm path prediction the worst of it will pass a few miles south of my location.

I ate birthday cake......and then I ate more birthday cake. i now have zero energy and a sugar high headache. I am wondering WHY did I do that to myself.

(((LadyM))) it doesn’t take much for sugar/carbs to hit me, and then I have to take a nap! I really have more energy if I don’t eat, I think.

We are expecting storms tomorrow— preacher has canceled adult Bible study (but says she will wait till tomorrow to decide about children’s activities? That doesn’t make much sense to me, but whatever.)

Yoga is still on.
Tomorrow is another day.
