trissie I will have to add that book to my wish list. Is there anything special in the upcoming week that you have reason to dread ?

Hi Kitkat ! Good luck dealing with the snowy weather. Had the plants started blooming before it snowed ? Or is it just normal in March for you ?

helia packing for mountain hiking and then city sightseeing will probably be a challenge... I suppose the hiking part requires you to have several layers, so maybe you can chose the under-most layers to be fashionable enough that you can wear as tops during your visits in France and Spain (Barcelona, you lucky woman, what an interesting city ! I spent a week there as a teen, I hope I can re-visit one day, and bring my kids along).

We have eaten, we have been to the poll station, now back, quiet house, only the dishwasher is doing some noise.
I will try a new recipe for tonight, a tarte aux Maroilles or Maroilles pie, Maroilles being a French cheese from the Northern part, and famous for its smell. You can ruin a whole fridge of produce with a Maroilles when uncovered and ripe enough  Anyway the dough requires yeast and some rising, which is not my most famous skill when it comes to cooking.

TADAs
dug out many small leeks, some of them starting to make a flower
lots of cleaning (leeks)
crumble done, leek gratin done, paupiettes pan cooked with cream and mustard and such
most homework done for DS10
everything eaten, except for a few leftovers
clean-up
lunchbox-sized glasswares filled with leftovers and some tabouleh mix, into freezer
went to polling station and back
now trying the yeast in lukewarm milk

TODOs
mail bank doc to DCousin L--
picture of DS7's favourite teddy (for an art project at local library)
remaining homework
prepare dough for Maroilles pie
wash my car at carwash station?
bake pie, make salad
some sort for exercise
Zone work
have dinner, clean-up, bedtime routine with kids
make list for next week
make plans for job-search strategy?
read for fun, do something fun

FFly and trissie March is still winter - or "false spring" here normally. We might see snow in April as well although I hope not.
Lauralind is in one of the Western provinces - even colder than here.
(In a few months we'll be complaining about the heat...)
I'm back from the gym - sitting with my heating pad... My back has been painful since I woke up. The workout did not help.
Hopefully, I'm mobile after this .

Hi, all. My internet was down for a couple hours today. It's been three days in a row that it has gone down now. I didn't expect the new service to be as reliable as Bell, but wasn't quite prepared for the daily reboot, lol.

Kittykatt, thank you for starting us off. I'm not familiar with Seurat's work, but I think that it would be easier to convert to a cross stitch or knitting pattern than your average painting.
I was wondering how the path of the eclipse could pass through Greenland, Iceland and Spain, and not include you. I actually brought the globe down and used a tape measure to follow the path, and, sure enough, it goes through Ireland and misses Great Britain and France. But it's so close, I'm sure you'll see a partial eclipse.
Now I'm twice as impressed by your long lists, knowing that you type them, copy and paste them on your phone. :)

That's an excellent strategy to get some time to mark papers, FrenchFly.
It wouldn't surprise me if joual (Quebecois) sounds like Norman or another older version of French, as it would have been based on the speech of the first habitants that settled in isolated communities and preserved the language.
The revenge voting against the sitting government is what scares me, FrenchFly. Our conservatives have moved further to the right, catering to various right wing fringes. Our new Prime Minister is laying the groundwork for really important work that should have been done forty years ago, but it takes time to implement. I'm afraid that if people vote the liberals out, we'll go back to putting all of our eggs in one basket.

Those sound like wonderful summer memories, Kittykatt.

trissie, we must slaughter our turkeys for market much younger than you do, as I've cooked turkey drumsticks in my slow cooker for my dog before. Are you sure it's not an ostrich?

kitkat, I remember that solar ecipse. I absentmindedly made an appointment for Germane at the vet right at the moment of the eclipse. So we walked over in the gathering darkness, but missed the actual eclipse. I offered to go outside with the vet to watch the eclipse and come back in, but he wasn't interested.

That sounds like a wonderful trip, helia.

I am up to the end of Page 1. Time to get up!

I think it will be nice, Trissie. We are sort of limited because I am reluctant to take DD33 away from US hospitals. We are supposed to have severe weather tomorrow…. Sigh…. Wind and maybe tornadoes.

Good afternoon!
Just lurking today 👀 but wanted to thank kittykatt for looking up the eclipse. Any time there is some sort of sky phenomena it’s cloudy here so we miss out.
Dogged, “Sweet onions are known for their mild, sweet flavor due to lower sulfur content, making them ideal for raw use in salads, on burgers, or for onion rings, as well as for caramelizing. Popular varieties include Vidalia, Walla Walla, and Maui, which are often larger with lighter, more translucent skins and don't cause as much eye irritation when chopped. They are less pungent than yellow onions but don't store as long, so they are best used fresh or stored in the refrigerator.”
Y’all have a good Sunday!
♥ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! ♥
