This thread is helping me too to revisit foods that don't automatically fit in a slot. Also it check if I have included some foods in the proper exchange = like the candy that was mentioned and okra (cringe) - a starch or vegetable.
I know okra is loved by many and I'm sure if I had some prepared the right way I may enjoy it but for now - cringe.

Indiana - THANK YOU for not giving up on me.
I spent my lunch time modifying the spread sheet. I "think" i understand it now. Maybe. Hopefully. I felt guilty erasing the carbs from the starch category so I put the other categories in the spreadsheet so I could account for what I ate. They helped me understand.
I ended up with 6.3 starches yesterday.
I found
this articlethat explained the carbohydrates that are in the veg/milk/fruit/starches/other carb categories and it finally (hopefully)
CLICKED for me.
1.6 Fiber Bar 6am
0.0 Coffee, Black (2 cup) 6am
0.0 Tea, mixuture Green/black unsweetened (2 quarts) 7am-5pm
0.0 Banana 9am
0.0 Pecan halves (4) 9am
0.0 Tomato Noon
0.0 Okra (no coating or batter used) 1 cup Noon
0.0 Okra (no coating or batter used) 1 cup Noon
0.0 Bacon Grease (1 oz) Noon
1.0 Tootsie Pop (1) lunch
2.5 Baked Potato Supper
1.3 Gordon Fish Sticks (6 sticks) Supper

LOL @ the Okra!!
I'm very grateful that most people don't care for Okra - That just leaves more for me! I usually only eat it during August when the harvest happens. YUM!!! It's a yearly treat that I look forward to. I have enough for 2 more meals then that will probably be the end of my Okra until August 2011.

Yes, Indiana -- anything you have for my normal food items would be helpful. Thank you so much! I just appreciate so much how you are devoting so much time to helping me with this. I still fear that I am going to be a disappointment to you, but I am trying.
And, I have lost 2.5 pounds since the first of August. That's not much, but it had been heading up up up, so at least the scales are moving in the right direction again.
I only like okra covered in about a million starches. (Heavily battered and fried.)

Lunch the other day was 2 eggs & cheese and low sodium V-8 it's nice to change it up.
Today H. grilled burgers & sausages; veg. pouches, and I made up a salad today for us for lunch.
I forget my carb. count but it's in my book on the counter I know the bun was 21 did the math
and took my pre-meal dose. Had 1/2 of a sausage h. is going to put the other half on his salad for dinner tonight! Had to really hunt for the hb buns for lunch had already taken my dose
so was about to decide on a hot dog bun then h. found it;

note to self next time get that out before hand!
Our neighbor said her h. was on a diet eating half of what he normally would!
I like the idea of that he did not have to do w/out things he liked to eat just
ate less of 'em.
The Schwan's guy has came and left
we like the frozen fruit bars and every one can eat those they are great.
We get the strawberry ones. Got some cod too.
They have cheese w/ zero carbs in it also that I use.

I just don't know if I will EVER be consistent w/lowering these starches... I just don't know if I can change my eating habits ENOUGH to make a big enough difference... but I am trying, Indiana... I really am. There's a lot of stuff I DON'T eat, believe it or not, just b/c I don't want to have to tell you I ate it.
