Me thinks it is a good night for skipping dinner or cold cereal with this heat!
Pot luck for lunch was nice.

Just puttering today in the kitchen. Cooking a whole chicken in crockpot, covered in bbq sauce. That will feed us for a couple nights. Also made brownies just now. Will figure out the rest of meal later...DH has golf and a dinner tonight at work, so I get "me time"--love it!

Re: What's for Dinner?
Thanks, everyone, I'm getting some good ideas from this thread!
We are in a long heat wave, with no central air and the fan in the kitchen cannot keep up.
Monday we had cold turkey sandwiches and fruit salad for supper.
Last night was scrambled eggs with onion, salsa, and cheese on tortillas.
Tonight for a very quick skillet dish, I'm going to cook some hamburger and add a can or 2 of something new to us, called "southwestern bean salad" that has 2 kinds of beans and lots of vegetables listed in the ingredients. May or may not have tortillas. Definitely will have fruit juice popsicles for dessert.

Re: What's for Dinner?
I think it's chicken day but green salad w/ tuna sounds better so going for that change up unless h. decides to grill then it's back to chicken on a bun.
Does any one make friendship bread with starter?
I'm thinking of doing a version of that w/ out the wait with a yellow cake mix spices and
1 cup fruit coctail maybe some coconut in it as well. I like those b/c they are better for me w/ out frosting. Last night I put peanut butter on the ch. one yum!

Here's the plan: zucchini and parmesan over whole wheat pasta. May add some tomato sauce to this...
Also have a pork tenderloin in the crockpot on a bed of bell pepper and onion. Honey mustard is on top of tenderloin. This will be 2-3 meals for us. Not sure about sides yet. Just winging it today!

Re: What's for Dinner?
I have a hankerin' for spam in a sandwich so we'll do that with fried squash as I did not do that yet. With a salad... thinking h. will have some fruit too I suspect.
H. made me promise not to have spam to often [high sodium content] but once in a while was ok so I got a bigger can b/c he was going to have some too.

Nancy--I love spam! Haven't had it for a while. Will have to add that to grocery list.
Having frozen pizza tonight. Don't feel like cooking after a couple hours at the dentist.

Red grapes and egg salad sandwiches for supper here tonight. DH won't be thrilled, but with his tendency toward gout, we need to go meatless at times. Plus, I'm giving myself a break from cooking!
