Taking care of myself focus.
ME - vs - ME
Yesterday I almost doubled my hourly steps from the previous day. I went from 7 to 12 of the 14 hours. WIN!
I am back on track with eating the way that makes my body feel the best. WIN!

Today I am going to continue with hourly steps and being intentional on what I choose to eat.
grateful for others who have written about their experiences
I agree!

I am posting to acknowledge that I am doing my best to TAKE CARE OF MYSELF.

I continually find it astonishing how what I eat affects my energy level, hunger level and overall mood. Of the 3 macronutrients (protein, fat & carb) it is carbs that I am battling the most. Processed carbs awaken the hunger level monster like no other. Being married to a person who has dessert (aka sugar) several times a day means that I have the visual temptation bombarding me frequently. I can ignore it 99% of the time but that 1% when I eat what DH eats can set off a chain reaction that doesn't bring good results. Sugar and flour are not friendly to my body. Thankfully, my body reacts well to some carbs so I can enjoy those. Legumes, potatoes and corn are the highest carb vegetables I eat that don't cause my body any problems.

My weight visual graph is starting to show signs of change. It has been flatlining for several days (weeks) but now has started a downward trend again.

Weather changes effect me mood and hunger mostly.
Got 1st snow just a skiff in the night.
Melting already but eating was carb hungry bs reflects that this morning.
10K steps today shopping day helps with that!

LadyM, I think carbs affect food craving too, especially when it's cold out.

I'm trying to restart monitoring my steps and making an effort to get them in. I will probably hit 42K for the week, which is 6K daily. Next week, will increase slightly. The top of my foot was sore back around the first of November, when I stopped working out. I still have days that it is sore, but less often. I got up this a.m. with my back aching. Not sure what I did but I seem to have worked that soreness out. It's always something. For about to turn 69 I guess it's normal. I'm thankful to be active and want to stay active. My workouts restart first of January, in new location. Further drive, but we'll how it goes.

I may have lost a little weight. I'm on the lower end of my range but right now I'm not eating very well either. "tis the season? Tomorrow I can request refill of the Zepbound, the last injection I have in house is on Sunday. I'm hoping that for already established users, it won't be back ordered. I need to update my weight Excel sheet. Haven't done so since November perhaps.

Twins.. I agree that most carbs spike my cravings, but for some reason my morning oatmeal does not.

I got my steps in but not my water. Need to work on that.

Another day...... another opportunity to learn and improve.

For no reason other than it has been a while, I tested my blood sugar this morning. I was surprised and not happy with the result. For me it was high (150 mg/dL). I don't remember ever having that high of a number when waking up. I will continue to monitor my blood sugar and be more aware of factors that can affect it.

I have only one more meal left on my 5 days of low-calorie eating, 2 before, 1 day-of, and 2 after the infusion(s). The first two days I cooked, improvising from others' experiences learned from a couple books and from writings on the internet by bloggers, etc. But then I did buy some packaged items that were recommended by the Dr. who wrote one of the books - some very simple soups, some crackers made of kale and nuts, teas.

The idea is that your own cells are obediently listening to your brain tell them there's not as much food, so slow down, be calm. The inappropriate cells that need to get themselves killed don't hear your brain, and keep on being active, calling attention to themselves. They become easier to find, while your own cells "keep their heads down" and don't get hurt so much. Even if it didn't turn out to be as effective as it was for others, just limiting yourself to small meals keeps the tummy settled.

I was really pleased to find there was something I could DO that might help. I needed to think I was adding to the positivity.

Tomorrow, French bread with substantial soups with chunks of veggies. Also rice dishes will be fine to add. And then eat without thinking in terms of low calorie until next cycle starts.

Oh, ds39 had his annual Natl. Firefighter Assoc. testing and improved on his previous all 'round. Especially they wrote that his lungs were "those of a younger man". Vision still 20/20, resting heartbeat low, lipids all good, slimmer, and just as pleased as punch with himself. Came over yesterday to tell me. (smile) Ddil rolled her eyes at him but admitted to all the good news. He knows how I worry and how it makes me happy that he is well and safe. His rule is still that his vehicle wheels do not turn into fast food places.

Another happy situation is that the insurance company has agreed that they are indeed going to pay what they owe on the expensive operation on his face, eye-socket fracture, etc. Ddil said there was really no reason the ins. co. would not have been considered liable for that, but they kept it hanging for a year, and it was worrying, nerve-wracking to them. It was a very successful operation - you completely forget how bad his face looked a year ago. He just looks like himself. That surgeon really did live up to reputation.

It eased my heart to have the visit.
