Whether it's called systemizing or habit stacking, I've found it incredibly helpful in ways I never expected.

I found myself getting frustrated after switching to a new vehicle. My previous vehicle and I had been inseparable for a decade, and I could operate it almost instinctively. With the new vehicle, everything was in a different place and required more focus. Even after a couple of months, the frustration lingered. So, I decided to write down every action I needed to take when getting into the car. It might sound a little over the top, but guess what? I'm no longer frustrated. It’s oddly calming to know I have six specific steps to follow before driving. Having them written down makes it easier to visualize, and now those actions flow smoothly like clockwork.

No sugar before 4 pm ☑☑☑☑_ ☑☑
No screens after 10 pm ☑_☑__ ☑☑
A general sense of discipline : ☑☑☑☑☑ ☑☑
This last habit seems to change a lot of things. It's more a mindset change than a habit probably, but I'm leaving it in the list.

I've started including 1/2 cup (45g) of oatmeal in my daily meals. After adding 1 cup of water and cooking it for a couple of minutes, it turns into a warm and satisfying bowl of comfort. I love that I can customize the flavor, either sweet or savory. I've tried both, and each option keeps it delicious and far from boring.
fyi - I make sure to buy oatmeal labeled gluten free. I recently discovered that not all oatmeal is gluten-free.

Stay curious......
My energy has been sagging. Will it help my energy if I add carbs?
I don't know but I am giving it a try.
Oatmeal and Legumes are my chosen complex carbs to add.
Yesterday i cooked a full pot of lentil and then put them in mason jars. Most of them went into the freezer where I can pull a fresh jar out every few days.
Now eating 1/2 cup of oatmeal & legumes every day is super simple and takes less than 4 minutes to prepare.

LadyM I add oats when I bake cakes, so my kids eat some added fiber ;) : I soak 2 tbsp oats while I mix my dough and just add it, sometimes I slightly reduce flour or butter to adjust quantities or texture, then I bake.
I love lentils too but for digestive reasons I can't eat them on payroll days.

My curiosity led me to realize that adding oats and legumes to daily meals should be done in small doses, especially since I also included psyllium husk in my oats. Oh my…

Years ago, I used to have soaked oats for breakfast on payroll days. They were easy to prepare in advance and traveled well.

Today, I tried soaking oats instead of cooking them, and I’m officially a fan. I used strawberries & Oikos Triple Zero yogurt to flavor the oats.
