good night to you, blessed!
I'm glad your Christmas keeps getting better even when you think it couldn't.
Cathy, bundle up! Brrrr.. ..
LadyM, can't believe you are so warm there and thinking of AC.
We've had an extremely quiet day, and in fact I did do some Desk Day. Have a bill ready for the mail tomorrow waiting at the door.
Fielded a nice call from a dcousin.
HRH is having some pain and it's a little of a mystery to me. His back, I think, although showing up in feet and legs, too. He's a bit worried to be taking too much acetaminophen.

Re: Friday PWYC, 2026 is a week away!
The afternoon got away from me. I've had some food.
Feeling better now after a low.
A bit of catch up on the weekly stuff now that Christmas is over I have my Christmas vest & a couple other things
ready to go back downstairs when I take down the laundry.
Glad I got the liv. room vacuumed and swept & mopped the kitchen dining room & hall.
Dishes are current.
Dumped trash also yea!

Re: Friday PWYC, 2026 is a week away!
Good evening!
I'm not sure how I'd categorize today. Relaxing, I guess, as was Christmas Day. We went to Mass at 7 on Christmas Eve, and my brother was having Christmas at his girlfriend's, so we had nowhere to be. Since the kids are grown, nobody was trying to rouse us at 6 am to unwrap presents, though DD did take it upon herself to wake DC when she got tired of waiting. It would not be a "good mornternoon" day. We had our usual Christmas breakfast of cinnamon rolls out of the tube, bacon, and scrambled eggs. It was only a couple of years ago that I realized why we always had scrambled eggs for Christmas breakfast when I was a kid -- because meringues took X egg whites, and spritz took Y egg yolks and X was not equal to Y. We took a good long time opening our presents; it reminded me of when the kids were very small, small enough to want to play with each toy as it was opened rather than quickly opening the next one. DH got me almost everything I asked for -- I got him everything he asked for, but he didn't ask for much. (OTOH, he wanted -- and got -- more dress shirts, bane of my existence. I guess I can't complain if I did it to myself.
)
We had DC's girlfriend L come for dinner and stay the night. It was easy, since the playroom was still spiffed from DD's guest. We had turkey for dinner, but we also did corn casserole and baked squash, so L had enough to eat. (She mentioned when we dropped her at home today that she's planning on going vegan, which really does not mesh with the food allergies and intolerances in our family. Oh, well, I don't suppose we'll be dining with her daily, so even if we have spaghetti marinara every time we see her, it would work.) We played a new game we got, and we finally watched the last two episodes of Bluey, which DC wanted to watch with all of us and L, and then A Muppet Family Christmas, which DD wanted us all to watch together. Today, we played an escape-room-in-a-box game, though we did have to pause to take L home -- we weren't able to finish it in time. Once DC and I got back, we finished the escape room and have spent the day since pretty much just lounging around. I've done next to none of my dailies. Tomorrow will be a little disjointed -- I want to go to the shrine in the late morning/early afternoon, and DH and I have the livestream at the 4, so that'll break up the afternoon.
Oh, goodness! Look at the time. I should pack it in. Sweet dreams, and have a great day tomorrow, everybody!

I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped. -- Prince Humperdinck

Re: Friday PWYC, 2026 is a week away!
Hello, hello to everyone!!!
I thought I was getting here earlier tonight, but I see it is almost 1:00 a.m.
We ate at Cracker Barrel today, with my dmom, and then went to her house to exchange gifts -- she just gave us money, but * whew * she was very generous with me (and in the mail to my dbro) and gave DS, ddil, and dgrands money also. She said she had to take out a large amount from her IRA (I think) and she felt inclined to share. It really will help me.
After we left dmom, I came home and napped a little while; then dgd called to see if I would come get her to spend the night. She and I played a game of Monopoly again, and Old Maid, and she has been asleep for a while now.
I have spent an absolutely ridiculous time looking for a wall calendar for my kitchen. It's crazy... I mean, I guess I'm crazy. I have had a Rubes Twisted Pop Culture calendar for the couple years, and I have loved it... but apparently they have quit making it. Same with The Far Side and Argyle Sweater. Those last two are still available in the page a day desk calendars but no wall calendars for any of them. it's crazy how long I have looked at calendars. Finally gave up on humor and went with Serenity. Sigh... maybe that's a sign that I need more serenity and less sarcasm in my life?
I also stopped at the UPS store and dropped off two returns to Ariver.
(((Twins))) My first thought was just the same as blessed -- maybe dh is having trouble adjusting to retirement and is not happy. But she's right; you may need to just have a conversation about this and explain to him that you cannot keep up the social calendar he seems to enjoy.
It has been very warm here today (70ish) and probably will be tomorrow but by Sunday evening, it's going to start rapidly cooling off. I dread those cold temps (in the 20s at night). Maybe it won't last too long!
I'm not really staying on track with any sort of routine right now, and will probably have dgrands a lot during the next week too, because they don't go back to school till January 6th, I think. So I'm just trying to keep things neat and do the best I can while they are here. I got all the Christmas gift stuff put away yesterday (boxes, paper, etc) but I have not taken tags off new clothes and hung them in the closet. I think I need to do some decluttering in the closet first.
I'm just wandering around with this post. I hope you all have a great Saturday to end this Christmas week!
