I'm glad that you found some Christmas music, Gma. You are right; most of us would rather listen to Christmas music between Christmas and New Years, rather than in November.
I'm glad that you are safe back home, and can control your heating to stay warm.

That sounds like a fun program, L.Ann.

You can't beat those Christmas leftovers, Kittykatt. Easy Sunday lunch for the win!
WTG on getting year-end paperwork done. You can face Hogmanay without panic, LOL.

Hi, Peaches

Sunday
Gave dog her Benedryl
Took pills
Put away clean dishes
Emptied out dw
Gathered sewing supplies to send to basement
Cleaned up after dog X 2
Changed out kitchen cloths
Wiped down accessible surfaces
Tidying in kitchen
Filled slow cooker with dog-safe vegetables and water
Checked the slow cooker: it is cold.
Checked the fuse, it had blown. Reset it.
Washed a few basinsful of dishes
Downloaded my db’s Tesla game
Swept
Treats for Germane
Washed floor
Played the Tesla game for a little

Dogged, you've reminded me, that I need to ask DH what he wants for supper on Wednesday. I've stopped going to New year's Eve parties, as I really struggle with late hours, and for the same reason I don't stay up to see the new year in either. But it's still nice to do something a bit special. If I suggest to DH that we have steak, then he will want me to cook it - another win for me! :D

Popping in. Hello all! I can't give individual greetings now. It's been a full day - and it's not over yet. 10 people popping in and out. R, myself, and J12yo have been camped out in the living room writing poems most of the afternoon. AND we're traveling to WA tomorrow morning. Of course! :) I think packing won't happen until tomorrow.

I got my 2 poems done! I now have about 30 minutes before I need to help with dinner. I'm going to wrap those last gifts. And I forgot - I was going to get beef bones for Raven; I can walk over to WF and still do that.

Next:
- finish unloading dw and reload
- finish wrapping gifts
- WF - if I can
- am I needed to help record a "lullaby" for one of the surprises?

Later:
- some qt -
- make bed
- tidy MBR
- last 2 thank yous
- WF run
- finish wrapping: dh - 3, dd27 - 1, J12yo - 1, baby I - 1
- finish folding and putting away towels - wip
- get beef bones for Raven - gift
- make salad for 10 people
- help dd27 make 10 letter cookies
- 6ish dinner: pannekoeken, salad - for 10 people
- after dinner clean up
- poems and surprises
- open gifts
- clean up

TaDas!
- up; weighed - trending down. The increase in exercise and watching my food intake is seeing results!
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website; it looks like we'll have a couple days of sunshine in WA!
- welcomed dd27 and Fable; dd27 is here helping dh make poffertjes
- put away groceries
- progress folding and putting away towels
- leaves in the table - RH and KE
- made a bowl of blueberries and strawberries
- 9:30 poffertje breakfast - 10 people
- after meal clean up
- organize the poem writing
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- squeegee and wipe down shower
- conferring with dd27 over the change in dd30's surprise
- write dd27's poem
- lunch
- write dd30's poem
- help J12yo a little bit
- various other conversations

Mmmm... steak, Kittykatt. :D I am eating roast beef leftover from Christmas dinner, and it's so good!

Go, Peaches

That sounds like a very busy day, helia. Enjoyable, though. :)

Good luck with the kitchen clean up, L.Ann. I hope that it goes quickly.

I have washed my hair. I'd like to get a loaf of bread going in the breadmaker. And then... it's really not as high a priority as other things, but my desk is bugging me. I would like to do a complete clean up of it, even if it means stuffing papers into a box to go through later.

Doggedly, I have been thinking about my desk/ office for quite some time. My first filing adventure has been just to put things into monthly file folders as they came in. I guess that's almost like putting them in a box to go through, as there are no categories.
I came up with about 15 categories. I already had file folders, so I marked them, and I found a box sort of the right size , close enough.
As I went through papers, I filed each in the proper folder. Or the recycle bin if it was something I didn't need - like a charity requesting money. I think I need to start just throwing those away when they come in, instead of mulling over whether or not I should consider donating. I discovered that the more I send, the more they want, plus they must share my name and address with others, because they multiply!
All for the current (2025) year, since I am way behind on it. I also found some things from prior years, and they just went into a separate container for old stuff, that I will deal with later. Category 15 was "other" for those things I hadn't thought of, and if/when that file gets several things in it, I will see if other categories emerge. On the label, I actually defined it, too: like utilities includes landline, cellphone, heat, city (our city bills for water, sewer, electricity, garbage all in one) because I have had trouble in the past deciding does the homeowner's insurance bill go into household or insurance? Do explanations of benefits go in medical folder or insurance folder? I made the decision ahead of time what the answer would be, and wrote in on the label - because what is important seems to be consistent.
I'm no expert - in fact, I'm an expert of failing Filing 101 - but I'm giving this a try for everything laying around that is 2025. If it works, I will start with a repeat for 2026. My brother said this should work for me. (He prefers to file everything in his computer - I'm not ready for that - I can't find files in my computer very well.
That was a longwinded suggestion....

I have spent the past several hours dealing with the papers on my grandmother's antique sewing machine that I inherited about 50 years ago. After a time I gave it to a cousin who enjoyed having it until she died. He daughter let me have it back, and it had become just another surface to put things on. So today that was my project: To get it completely cleared off, get a doily on it. And since I hadn't had time to get my manger scene out, and it's just the 4th day of Christmas, I decided to set it up.
Now I'm on to the papers on the piano bench and the top of the piano. Yes, true confessions, I have papers on every surface in the house. I am making headway!
As soon as I hit submit, I am going clsoe the computer, then pay the bills that should be done before he end of the year, then get back to those papers.
We're still in a blizzard here. Hot tea makes a nice companion. I'll have plenty of snow removal to deal with tomorrow!
