Gma it's going ok with mom and dad I think. Dad's trying to get used to it without mom in the house. I'm trying to figure out how often I should go up there. Mom might be getting more confused and had a couple of spells where it looked like she wasn't recognizing dad or my sister. Next time she was good. Sleeping pills making mornings off???

The plans are coming along nicely. Yes sister will come. Maybe nephew too? I should have double checked that . Dad is liking the idea too so win all around so far. Except I think we're going to not bring mom out this time. Maybe you have some advice on that gma. You brought your very hard to move mom shopping and church and such a lot. Too hard to get her in the vehicle and house and steps and.. Dad's barely strong enough himself to help her. I'm very unsure I hope they don't both decline faster now...

Next up figure out what I need in town and go shopping.

Priority list ✨️

Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Finish laundry
Fix tree

Plan meal and who's coming
Groceries
Wrap some stuff
And some rest time/qt. Etc.
See mom
Check on dad again

Today's tada list

Make grocery list and decide a few ideas to make besides ribs and wings
Groceries

Empty and reload dw
Finish tidying kitchen all the way
Declutter island again
Wipe out fridge and garbage cabinet
Sweep everywhere
While texting with ddil and sister
Call dad he's good with the ideas
Music break just cause

Soak in tub instead of shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Tidy living room and master bedroom some
Send garbage out with dh
Some extra qt hopefully

(((Lauralind) They say that you never stop worrying about your children, but they don't tell you that you reach a point where you worry about your parents as though they were your children.
I'm glad that your Christmas plans are coming along.

I think that I'll take a bit of a break before I tackle clearing everything off of my desk and reorganizing it.

Celebration at the museum sounds like fun, L Ann! There seem to be a lot of kid-oriented activities at the museums in your area.
Did you get your desk organized, Doggedly?
Glad the get together is coming along, Lauralind.
WTG on vacuuming under the couch first thing this morning, Gma.

Hello to others! I need to cut this short as ds is waiting for me to be free to hold little I while he helps dh with a project. I'll bbl.. .

No, I fell asleep, helia. But the night is still young; I can get that desk reorganized before midnight. I think I can, I think I can...

You are doing great, L.Ann.

Germane woke up from her nap with her appetite restored, so she has had a nice snack, and I have found that my soup is much improved by stirring in some curry.

Wednesday
Cleaned up after dog
Breakfast for Germane
Set up bathroom heater
Showered/washed hair
Quick scrub of tub
Dug out the container of split pea/lentil soup mix. I want to make broth from the scraps in the freezer and then add the soup, but this package says that I can have soup in an hour if I just add water and cook it on the stove…
Put away the laundry drying on the line
Put on a pot of soup
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed slow cooker liner
Washed egg pot
Washed dishes
Put more in to soak
Dumped the broth from the dog’s vegetables into the soup as she has stopped drinking the broth
Cleaned glasses
Much stirring of soup
Washed small slow cooker liner and soaking dishes
Washed dog’s water bowls, filled them and dumped dishwater
Changed kitchen garbage
Brought garbage to chute
Cleared off table
Set up the coffee maker
Checked dog: turned off heating pad
Checked the soup: it needs salt and to be slow-cooked, LOL.
Took a nap

Laurlind, If your mother is at all able to do the stairs to get into the house, yes, please bring her. If she is incontinent, bring a thick waterproof pad to put underneath her, and protect any furniture where she will be sitting. Also wear those waterproof disposable undergarments. If not able to do steps, and no one is able to get a w/c up the steps, then no. But do have a small Christmas gathering at her room where she is being cared for. It doesn't have to be on the same day, but she deserves a little bit of Christmas, too. She will be overwhelmed at her room with too many people all at once. 3-5 people would be good.
They need to quit giving her sleeping medicine. She should be able to sleep by herself. That provides better quality sleep. The degree of confusion will vary from time to time. It is not consistent. There will be times of clarity, and times that clarity would be on another planet.
When mother was first at the Care Center, I noticed what I thought was increasing confusion. So I started to take her out as much as I could. It didn't help the overall confusion picture, but it was very good for her morale.
Remember that this separation is hard for them, after so many years of marriage, living together. It may feel like an unwanted divorce. But remember also that this separation is the RESULT, not the cause, of the decline. And the decline was already happening before your Mom was moved.

Moving that slush in my driveway was heavy work. My neck muscles are feeling it. I went to Kohl's this afternoon, had some Kohl;s cash to spend or lose, so I bought 2 bath towels, and ended up paying $3.21. pretty good deal! I think my neck wants to rest, or to sit in the tub, so I 'm on my way...

Slush is the absolute worst, Gma, defying the claim "At least I don't have to shovel the rain." I hope that you are able to please your neck muscles sufficiently that they forgive you tomorrow.

That is very helpful info gma. Thank you. They did take her out Christmas day for a bit. And she gets out to the activities three times a week. So good for her. I'm not sure when I will find the right time but I should go once and watch during activity time. And check from that point of view how she is. This is all new territory for me but not so much for mom. Her mom was in the hospital on long term care as well before getting into the nursing home. There are 9 of them including momin there waiting for a spot. We need another wing on the home.

I went to see her tonight and stayed while she had supper. Huge blessing we have a rare hospital that has good food. She gets things she likes and eats well. I had put a roast in the instant pot before I left. Finished making supper and made my jello salad. Quick mopped the floor. I didn't get to vacuum. All I really have to do tonight is get the ribs out of the freezer. Then I will be in decent space for tomorrow. .

That is wonderful that your dmother is being well cared for, Lauralind.

I have cleared off my desk, and am now working on replacing the runner and placemats that are under the monitor and keyboard/mouse.

Cleared all clutter from desk into boxes
Found the clean runner to swap
