I am on hour #69 of my 100-hour surgery recovery. I am now off all prescription pain meds and using OTC pain meds. I woke up in pain during the night because I tried going through the night without any pain meds. I learned that I am not able to do without pain meds yet.

I am having a flashback to my grandparents' food and the way they ate it. I remember them putting cornbread or slice of bread (homemade) in a glass of fresh buttermilk. I thought of that memory as I was tearing small pieces of Daves killer bread into a cup of broth to soften it.
I don't know if it is the good memories of my grandparents' ways or the taste, but it was very comforting and satisfying.

I am going to start slowly increasing my activity today in anticipation of returning to normal life in another day or so.

I am giving my best effort to TAKE CARE OF MYSELF. I find it informational and inspirating to read how and what SHE's doing to take care of themself. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

I am on hour #93 of my 100-hour surgery recovery. I am starting to get excited as I watched the countdown get closer to the end. I will consider myself ready to return to normal activities at 4pm today.

I have been without pain meds for the past 14 hours. The swelling has greatly decreased. Sadly, that reduction of swelling resulted in sutures being loose and gagging me by tickling my throat. I managed to remove those floating suture threads, and everything got easier after that. Yesterday the periodontist called to make sure everything was going okay. I do appreciate their care and follow up. They are giving the surgeries 4 weeks to heal, and they will do final evaluation on Nov 8th. During that healing time I am restricted from hard crunchy or sticky foods.

I have been researching Xylitol and the effect it has on teeth. Everything I have found is positive. I am going to start using Xylitol mints and gum.

After hitting the pause button during surgery recovery, I am eager to get back to daily TAKE CARE OF MYSELF challenges. I expect an uphill effort to get restarted. I do know if I try and give my best effort then I will be pleased. ME-vs-ME

Today I am celebrating 100 days of recording everything I eat/drink in Cronometer. This data is important for me to learn how my body reacts to food and drinks.

LadyM…wtg!!!

Yesterday I ate my protein and the cranberry cookies sat on a plate right next to me and o didn’t eat any.

Don’t know about my step because I forgot to charge my watch. Drank plenty of water but I don’t know how much. A lot of it was while I was at my meeting and I drank from a large glass.

I ate all my protein
80 ozs of water
Plenty of steps but I didn’t have my watch charged
Scale has moved!
No headache

I continue to do my vitamin routine every morning with my morning coffee religiously. If I make it till Jan without one then I will deem it a success. I was taking 2 generic Unisons at night but have cut back to one. I also take 25mgs of Zoloft to quite my mind.

After tracking food, sugar, barometer reading and other weather related stuff, the only trigger I can find that may be an influence for my headaches is sleep. I can’t take Melatonin at night because it causes really weird and sometimes violent dreams.

I look forward to reading how others take care of themself. It motivates & inspires me to ponder, research, and learn.

My first day back after surgery recovery had a score of 85% overall. I purposely make how my tracking works so that I don't focus on perfection but seek consistent improvement.

I read this today on another forum and it resonated with me.
Write down a non-negotiable daily habit that will better your life and make you feel proud for finishing it.

And then do it every single day.

Nothing builds self-love more than self-belief. And self-belief is built by following through on things we said we would.

I remember how difficult getting started was when I started focusing on TAKING CARE OF MYSELF. I had beginners' enthusiasm to help me get started but it was mentally, emotionally and physically challenging to make changes. I pouted because I didn't want to make changes, but I did want to be healthier and able to do things. I remember complaining to DH that it wasn't fair that everyone in the family could eat whatever and how much they wanted. I didn't think that it was fair that I was eating fairly healthily, but I just kept gaining weight and my ability to move was declining.
I spent hours focusing on how to be healthier and implement what I was learning. I had to be methodical about tracking so I could remember to implement the changes & habits consistently. I had to modify what I was doing that wasn't working. Each month I changed it a little and watched to see the result of that modification.

100 days later I am still not "there" but those habits and changes I made in June are now MUCH easier to do without much thought.

I am looking forward to discovering what 200 days of TAKING CARE OF MYSELF will be like.
