Re: Health and Fitness, October 2024
I still have the crud… squeaky voice, swollen glands and just feeling puny. Ran a fever too. Got up this morning to drink my coffee and intended to just take it easy, but feeling bad enough that I’m going back to bed.

So very sorry, RR. It sounds horrible, take care of yourself and get past this!
No healthy habits here. I took yesterday as a rest day and did only what I wanted - research and stamping. And might do the same today! I'm taking some rest while I can find it.

((((RR)))) hoping this is a quickly passing bug with no long-term effects.
That made me stop and think about our community. At the moment it seems we are not passing around any viruses or bugs. I suspect it is the calm before the storm. We are still in the middle 90'F temps during the day, but once the temperature drops the germs seem to show up and be shared easier.
I had a 71% completion yesterday with my daily habits, so I am not failing but there is much to improve. I have lost 3.5lbs in October so I am hopeful that I can keep enough habits going to reach my goal of losing one pound a week.

Almost back to normal…will get in my protein, maybe today. Depends on my appetite. Same with water.

RR - glad you're feeling better!
I am slowly gaining ground with focus put on TAKING CARE OF MYSELF. Yesterday was 84% (up from 71%) success.
Interesting observation. Yesterday I was way under on calories (not on purpose) and only had 17% protein. The scales jumped two pounds this morning. WHAT?!!! It fascinates me to observe how my body responds when a change is made.

I ate as much as I could, same with water. However I had 10k steps before I took my walk last night so ended up with 14k.
I like walking in the evening. Reminds me of being a kid and walking home late at night from a friends home. Got me to thinking kids these days don’t get to experience that.

Re: Health and Fitness, October 2024
Evening walk - I was just thinking about starting to do this. Then I came here and saw RR experience with it. Sounds like a habit/routine worth pursuing. Besides the movement part of this potential new-to-me habit, I think it would be helpful in putting a marker on the end of the day.
Yesterday I continued my effort to improve my consistency in doing daily healthy habits. It has been a while since I hit 92% completion. I am hopeful to not backslide and continue to maintain and improve.
The rest-of-the-story on my Potato Chip addiction. After considering eating chips for my birthday for 5 days I decided I was tired of thinking about potato chips all the time. I had a small bag (390 calories) of chips and am hopeful that will calm the thoughts. If I had bought a big family size bag of chips (or multiple bags) I would have eaten all of them too. I can control the amount but not the desire. It is somewhat embarrassing, but it does give me a small glimpse into how addiction to anything can rule our thoughts.

I am staying hopeful in rebuilding my healthy habits. Yesterday was 97% completion.
We started a family walk in the evening. DD13 is absolutely NOT a fan of this. DD13 gets no exercise and hates being outdoors. I am careful to pick my battles, and this evening walk is one that I am picking. I am hopeful we can maintain this new evening routine.

My kids used to enjoy going to the roller rink. Just sayin' that might be an option for exercise.
