Dh put some chicken wire up to protect my zinnia seeds and hopefully seedlings soon from the sweet ddog, who thinks a raised bed is a place to dig.

This last month, the main project has been to cut down the periwinkle (Vinca minor) in my front garden, now it's finished flowering. Otherwise, it starts to crowd the roses, and they don't like that! The campanula will also need to be trimmed at some point, but it's just coming into flower, so it's good for another few weeks.

In the back garden, the many of pansies have gone over, as they don't seem to like the hot weather we've been having. The geraniums are coming on, but this year I had to switch to a peat free compost for them,as that was all there was available, and I have to say I'm not impressed, especially as it goes into hard lumps, like concrete when it dries out. Some of them are definitely struggling. I used Levington's peat free compost, so a reasonable brand. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the nest from peat free compost, as the traditional type is getting hard to find!

On the plus side, the roses are coming out nicely.
Early June Garden

I'm slowly making progress on my hopes and dreams for my yard. I built my little round bed around the pole. Although I'm not very happy how it turned out I should have used petunias as the border and something bright for the middle. The lobelia struggled with the frost and I lost or majorly set back a good portion of them so it looks like it's missing something.

Then i made my big flower bed. It used to be there before we built the full house. It took so long to work up a little at a time that now I only have a few things to put there but I have perrenials I can move after they bloom. And bulbs in fall. And next year. My sister gave me a whole bunch of ideas.

I have started planning our outside adventures - I want to bring in my seed starter this weekend to start flowers. I have a problem that most of my seeds should have been ordered in November - everything I buy is out of stock!
