"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." – Maya Angelou
I'm hoping that we're still thriving, and not all burned out by getting organized, exercising new habits, and eating healthy meals. It's great to have a fast start, but we shouldn't exhaust ourselves doing it.
Same time and energy for passion, compassion, humor and style!

Up early to go to a health lab to get my blood drawn for a bunch of test my dr. order. The waiting room was packed so I decided I’ll come back later this morning.
Went to the ENT yesterday to get the results of a MRI for my ear. Found out that the test didn’t really give them a clear view of what’s going on although it did show that I had damage in my right ear as well. The doctor ordered a CAT scan to get a better idea of what’s happening.
Need to go back in a month after I have the PET scan done and then I have to spend an hour talking to a person to have my ears tested for hearing aids. Not surprised because I’ve lost a lot of my hearing and I can tell this might help.
If any of y’all were hearing aids, I’m curious to find out how you decided where to go to buy them. I don’t know many people here in my community that wear them so I would ask if I did.
It’s Thursday, which means laundry day. I need to get sweetie up And start his day as well. I have a few things going on in the house that I need to spend some time with as well.
For now I’ll just drink my black coffee and enjoy Perry Mason until I can get back to the lab.

Dh and I both had a rough time sleeping last night. I think I was up around 4:30. I blame it on the afternoon nap!
Today has been busy stuff outside. I took compost and recycling to the end of the driveway. Dh loaded the stuff to go to the landfill and he's already gone. I burned 5 bags of recyclables. (Cardboard and paper) I moved all the garbage bins to the winter location. It was warm enough to be outside without a jacket on. We also brought in 7 empty bins to refill with Christmas stuff. The cats are currently inspecting those bins. I will be purging what's in them before I refill them. I hope to get rid of 25% of the unused stuff. More would be a bonus.
I need to brush my hair and get going with the rest of my day.

Yes, I'm still here trying so hard - perhaps that's natural in the new year, but feeling stalled out/overwhelmed at times. It's just that season of the year - for the HOA busy-ness, and for fresh start "get it done" in my brain.
I only have a workout today - dh I think will be out this p.m. with the bowling team. I'm thinking that I need to do some errands today but I can think of so many I hate to try to jam them all in today. OTOH tomorrow we are heading to Atlanta to see Hells Kitchen - the Broadway show - at the Fabulous Fox theatre there. Hotels are packed there because it's the CFP game tomorrow night in ATL also. Not sure what time tomorrow dh wants to drive down. I have a zoom at 12:30 that I might need to reschedule...need to pin him down today. And I'm not sure what he wants to do on Saturday before coming home.
Errands: (last three could be pushed off to tomorrow a.m. - all close to home, but second one could be done in a.m. if I go to different branch
-jewelers (after workout - it's on the other side of town)
-Bank for HOA deposit - come back through downtown after workout and jewelers
-post office for HOA
-Home Depot return
-gas in my car
Never got to genealogy yesterday at all.

And thinking hard on that blog that I linked to yesterday. I put this in the weekly list post and clearly overestimated my capabilities...
List for week:
Update Cemetery financial info to 12.31.2025
Donate SU stuff
Watch a webinar at Legacy Family Tree
Camp scholarship info
discuss with dh again, I do not remember what we decided
Garage clean up 15 min daily -
have done twice....
Move bulletin board by genealogy desk
clear desktops upstairs
Decide what to focus on writing, spend time getting ready for publication
I don't think I have anything that close to publication, unless it's something I don't want to work on....there's a quandary...
Hanukkah decorations
HOA billing for dues
HD return
errands today
42500 steps
on track
Dog Trainer make appointment
Vet appointment

Good morning
The meteorologists were right about their prediction of sleeper tornado happening near sunrise this morning. Although they were a bit off about a hundred miles, but it did happen. Kudos to them for analyzing the weather correctly.
DS17 friends are very inclusive toward DD14 but she doesn't want to participate with their doings. She is on the phone with her friends for hours each evening and loves having her solitude space.
I am in the process of gathering items needed and setting the stage for DD14 to make some changes. DD14 hates changes.
- She wears a fanny pack when she leaves the house and it is beyond need of replacement. She keeps telling me that it is fine....because she is greatly resistant to CHANGE. I've ordered a new fanny pack that should arrive tomorrow. I've given DD14 heads up that we are washing her current fanny pack this weekend. If it falls apart then she will have this new one to use. If it comes through the washing okay then she can continue to use it if she wants.
- Her bedroom is so full of STUFF that the floor is only visible as a pathway from the door to her bed. I asked DD14 if I could contact DD49 to come help her do a reset to her bedroom. DD49 does house cleanouts as a side gig and is used to dealing with STUFF. DD14 agreed and DD49 accepted. I bought 2 large tubs yesterday to collect items that DD14 isn't willing to part with. The filled tubs will be stored in the garage. I know that is "kicking the can down the road" in dealing with all this STUFF, but I'm trying to not push DD14 too hard with these changes. Baby steps.
- I've given DD14 heads up that her fluffy white winter coat is dirty so it will be washed this weekend. She is okay with doing that.

Today was church this morning, followed by coffee and chat. I also managed not hoover the car before the rain started. Afterwards I dropped off DF PM at her house, as by this time it was raining heavily, and she had forgotten her umbrella, and then drove home to pick up Jude for her weight loss appointment. Jude was a little angel, and had also lost 50 grams (about 2 Oz) so I'm taking that as a win.
This afternoon I'm planning to do a little work on my kitchen and then make leek and potato soup for our supper while I wait for my grocery delivery to arrive. I enjoyed reading the online/ IRL grocery shopping discussion yesterday, and I order our groceries every week using the store's app on my phone, and have it delivered. I fomd.it helps me.to be more disciplined and keep to my list,.and less distracted by the "Oooo,.shiny!" that you have in store. There are just a few things that I prefer to pick myself,, and I usually .go to M&S food hall for that, but for the vast majority, I'm very happy for someone.else to do it.

This year I'm also planning to get back I to the habit of ordering an organic veg box from a local farm,.and having that delivered as well - maybe once.or twice a month?

good morning - my body got up early but my brain didn't. just getting started.
I didn't have a good night sleep - waking up and thinking about things. I ended up waking up - stay awake for an hour and back asleep. I haven't heard from my brother yet. it's only been 4 days today since I wrote him to figure things out. At least I know He read it. I can't take time to imagine what what he thinking or not thinking. I can make up so many things in my head. It is no longer worth the time or the lack of sleep.
wishing you all a wonderful morning
mom is finally up.

LadyM…I once had a student like your dd14 who wouldn’t get ride of anything and hated changes. I convinced him to let me look in his backpack and found papers and trash that was two years old.
He wouldn’t part with any of it for fear he might need them some day.
I had a filing cabinet right behind where he sat with an empty drawer. He finally agreed to put all his treasures there for safe keeping and a pass from me that he could come back anytime and check on it.
Once we unloaded his backpack it was10 lbs lighter and he never came back for his stuff. He did open the draw when he had class with me, but that only lasted for a few days.
Bet those tubs will give your dd14 piece of mine.
