TENDING THURSDAY

Have a few things to tend to today. Mostly it's getting the Annual Report off to be printed -IF I get the proofed one back from the church secretary and pastor. Got the report from our treasurer done and sent off to him to proof.

Misting out so dh didn't go for his walk. Need to call the newspaper to let them know we got no paper. Dh went out to buy one. He could never go without.

((Dee)), those kind of dreams are so wonderful when we are having them but so sad when we wake up & miss our loved ones so.

Thank you, Dove. It did continue to pop into my head many times yesterday and I would have to keep from crying. I was ok as long as I was busy. Dream was just terribly real that it wouldn't leave me. Know I was kinda out of sorts a good deal of the day and tried to be more upbeat. I'll be fine today.

Yes, Dee, lots to tend to today. I was up at 6:15 or so to find paperwork for dh before he left. In all fairness, he asked me to find it last night and I didn't.

Today I need to hang out and do a round of desk day, paper decluttering, things at home. Hardly know where to start to be honest. Decleaning lady will be here tomorrow so I need to take a look at dkids rooms also. I'm heading out right now to meet with rabbi; we've skipped the last two or three weeks. Will also see temple secretary today; I wrote email to her last night, toned it down this morning and sent it. She'll not be happy with me, I suspect.

Meeting last night went until almost 9 p.m. so we were late getting in. I was honored as one of the community volunteers of the year for the religious school organization.

I have a day at home! I don't want to slide into IGAD mode so I'm staying on schedule as much as possible. Having a plan that works is energizing so I don't waste time and decision making effort

Continuing my holiday put-away, I've organized the holiday gift wrap and tags, bows, tissue, stickers,etc.

But also organized the year-round of all the above categories! Happy to have that done.

When one of my children asks for a quick gift tag, for instance (this happens all the time), I'll point to exactly where they ALL are. What tends to confuse this is the (very nice) tags, address labels, stickers, book labels, etc., that come as thank-yous from charities. With every type in one mailing (again, pretty and appreciated), it all gets in the way of the other and I end up unable to find what I know I just saw! So it's worth it to separate.

I "unsubscribed" and deleted all my emails from Kel logg because they were the most irritating of the 7 commercial businesses in my inbox this a.m. So that got rid of about 25 of my million emails. If I do that to whichever is most irritating each morning, I should be able to whittle this down to a half-million soon.

Nancy, This reminds me of me yesterday.... I unsubscribed from a newsletter on cooking, but when I went to their page of options, to sign UP for, I saw certain subjects, which interested me much more. I ended up signing up for 3 - 4 more newsletters! But I am looking forward to them in my inbox. I sent newsletters to a secondary inbox, rather than my main one.

Am thinking about jumping ahead on the FOCUS project list, into the bedroom today because next week's my birthday week. So I don't want to be dusting wood blinds, cleaning drawers, the walk-in closet ON my b-day! I thought a jump start would make the week more relaxing because we'll be going out to lunch on a day other than my b-day, so there goes 2 days.

The rain's coming, I'll get my hair cut tomorrow if it's not too stormy. If it's too stormy, I'll get it cut the 17th.

Prayers and good thoughts and energy going out to Sadie today.

DH leaves about 12:10 p.m. for I-Hop, for a retirees' luncheon. He'll be home anywhere between 2:30 - 3 p.m., but has been known to get here about 3:30 p.m. It depends upon the turn-out. I plan to clean, do letters, crochet for a dfriend, read and finish a book of DD's, then will write her, got her mailer addressed already, and will get that ready to ship off tomorrow, too. The book is called "Ghost Stories of Washington," by Barbara Smith. It's very interesting, sad, and so funny in places to learn what ghosts do and how mortals react to them, positively and scaredy-cat, too! It's been an excellent read. The author writes about ghosts in Canada, where she lives, and other places, too. Very good writer.

Teaching went well this morning. I didn't finish what I had wanted to do so it felt like I just cut it off mid-discussion, but the other teachers felt it was good. I'm not sure it felt cut off to them. . . .I'll start next week with a summary of the conclusions I had wanted to spell out but didn't get to today.

I did briefly go over my plans for the next 2 weeks with the teaching team chair, our pastor's lovely wife, and she seems enthusiastic about it, so that was affirming.

Sun is shining and temps are up to around 14* right now! I'm just finishing some lunch. The sunshine is so cheering!

This afternoon, I need to go to the groc. store. The thursday dinner crew will be here, except for S. I know what I'm making but still need to buy ingredients.

Glad that you're home from the surgery, Sadie. Thoughts and prayers for a quick recovery.

What is up with MT? I may just have to search out her last post

Funny to get on so much later in the day for most of the SHEs and see that tending to overfull email boxes is a shared goal. I had already decided to start mine today before connecting to the internet this morning. My goal is to whittle down 50 a day, plus deal with all that come in that day. I have 820 at the moment so I will achieve my goal by the time I arrive in Sydney in 28 days. Yes, I know that 50/day would be 1400 and I only have 820 but days I'm in port will be distracting and I may not get to the goal.

Several emails received overnight require action so that will also be a goal of mine for the day.

Plus annual report things (shared with Dee.)

Goodness, I'm busy and haven't even added the hard work of relaxing to my to-do list. I'll multi-task and take the computer to the destination lecture (which I'm actually tempted to skip but will go to and sit in the back and listen and delete emails at the same time.

I've just finished breakfast. It is another gorgeous day and 71* out, although clouds are rolling in. My butler said that the captain has warned about rougher weather starting today. (Another reason to get the annual report stuff done today while things are smooth.)

Mild sea sickness is all gone now. My only tiredness is from only 6.5 hours sleep since dh and I stayed up too late (dh was convinced there was another time change, turns out he was wrong.)

Poof to s2s and then get dressed for the day. I laid out exercise things so I could work out first thing this morning. I'll put them away now, untouched. I did get the laundry sent out, though, so that's one thing accomplished. We now get free laundry service and I'm everything out today including my super fine washables and seeing what happens.

Twins'Mom ~ Congratulations! so nice they recognized your work.

The morning got away from me again today. Several Emails back and forth, updated FB pages for sewing and library groups, and spent more time trying to solve FB problems for someone else.

The new vp for the sewing group doesn't like the way I set up the group's FB page. She won't tell me what she wants changed, she wants to do it herself. That part I don't mind, because I've never thought of it as "my" page, and it's already an open page for anyone to post text or photos.

The problem is that she wanted me to give everyone my password, which I won't do because the current page is attached to my personal FB account. (That was the rule over a year go when I set up the page.) I've been trying for 3 days to figure out how to detach the page from my personal account, but nothing has worked because FB doesn't want to do it.

I encouraged VP when she first brought it up Sunday to build a new page because I thought that would be the simplest route. She "didn't want to go to all that work" when the page already exists. I'm out of ideas, though, and no one else has been able to suggest anything, so last night I told her I'm out of options and the only solution is for her to make a new page.

Today she can't get the heading to look the way she wants. And the photos don't work right. And this, that, and the other. IMO she's taking something simple that works and is making it complicated. Can't wait to see how she reacts when some of the 8 other people to whom she has already given the password start changing her work, because that's way too many cooks in the kitchen.

I will be most happy to step aside from this particular administrative duty. I'll limit my involvement to posting short positive notes on the page (whatever it ends up being) using my own FB name. I will try very hard to refrain from reminding her that she wanted to do this herself.

I took a short nap with the cats. I need to wash and dry my hair, then go run errands in The Big City. The Lego order might be at the post office. Library meeting tonight.
