Re: Making Monday Matter
Sliding back into normal school routine this morning. I've had better .......but then I've had worst too. No complaints.
(((Dee)))) keeping you and DH in thoughts and prayers as you make arraignments for medical care
Harriet - Congrat's to your DD on such a cute hair style!
Cost per bag when flying? Hum......wonder if there is a place to find that out easily. I didn't see it when making reservations. Three different plans and two different airlines so do they use the same baggage rules or each one different. hum.... sometimes being a non-frequent traveler is not good when you need to know these things.
Next up -
** LO up/snuggled/AM cards done and on the school bus
** breakfast made/served
** MPB daily gross processed.

Re: Making Monday Matter
Good morning OKay and Lilac.
Kathryn, what does the inside of a volcano look like? Is there such a thing as helicopter sickness? (I got off my first and only one feeling nausea, but I had a rear-facing seat. But of course, no one had said to me, "Now if you'll look straight DOWN you'll see the bowels of the earth... ..." so I may have gotten off easy.)
Here the school run and Morning Daily Card are done well, except for finish up of laundry. Also continued a deeper spif of kitchen, which looked a little untended.
Today my unsubscription and deletion of e-mails was HerRoom, a bra company from whom I did make a satisfactory purchase, but did not intend to set up a long-term e-mail correspondence. (smile)
Today starts bedroom week in Focus Cleaning, and for me, decluttering in the bathrooms in preparation for next week's Focus.
If you think you'd benefit next year from notes about your 2013 holidays/end of year, consider making a "debriefing" post in the holiday thread in A, C and N forum. I will probably keep adding to mine, since I keep thinking of things that might need a reminder. By the end of this month, I plan to print that out, too, and stick it under November (October?
) in the planner.
An Errand rears its ugly head - dreaded errand? Sounds like a phrase of which "dragon" might be the short form. So I shall slay the DreadedErrand. I have to go back to branch bank and explain the notarization was done wrong and show them the clerk of court's bad note. Reminds me of having a teacher's frowny face on a math paper.
Next up is fruit brunch.
OMM - dfil's present is still here, sigh. Plans went awry for the menfolk yesterday.
I mentioned the kind words about haircut to dd and she was pleased. If she can stay as happy about it as she was this morning, all will be well. Her Daddy is fearful that students' comments at school may be negative and spoil her outlook. Long hair is overwhelmingly the norm at the high school, part of the reason dd became disheartened with it. It was interesting to me that she looked taller, somehow. Possibly something about the eye being pulled upward by the hairstyle.
Oh, editing to add, first comment must have been good, though from an adult. Dd emails, "Mrs. (geometry teacher) is officially in love with my cute hair."

Harriet, I thought that it was so sweet that your dd15 cut off a few inches at a time to help her ddaddy adjust to a shorter length. That is a cute hairstyle and I am anxious to hear about all the positive comments she will receive. Yeah, just read that her first positive comment was an adult. I am sure that her peers will also love it.

Re: Making Monday Matter
Reminder - US postage stamp costs go up on Jan 26.
First class stamps go up 3 cents from 46 to 49.
The second ounce goes up 1 cent from 20 to 21 (making it 70 cents to send 2 ounces).
Postcard rate goes up 1 cent from 33 to 34.
So if you'd like to buy more Forever stamps, now would be a good time. Also take a mini-inventory so you'll know what non-forever stamps you have and what you might need to make up remaining postage if you want to use them up. Here are the small-denomination stamps the post office offers.

Hi everyone! Just lost a really long post about the interior of Mount Vesuvius. Due to the time since the explosion, the inner walls are not smooth or straight down anymore. We also saw Mount Etna and Stromboli on the same cruise. Mike and I called that cruise "The crater and cathedral tour".
Also for prices, we just g oogle the airline and they all have it in their websites.

CathyS - Thanks! Turns out that baggage check fee isn't a concern.

Re: Making Monday Matter
Popping in. . I'm keeping on track today. I think today will matter!
Love the hairstyle dd15 chose, Harriet!! Very very stylish.
Done:
x . . .drumroll please. .. .I went for a JOG this morning!
W/ dh. It was 35* at 8 a.m. I ended up hot and sweaty despite layers, yes. .I was able to keep going for 30 minutes, very slow pace, but it felt good. I'm hoping to jumpstart my exercise routines.
x emails
x a.m. routine, minus kitchen clean up
x laundry gathered and load of darks washed
I'm emailed my Heb. teacher. I'm not going to go to class today. Eating at 5:30 is our best approximation of a family dinner w/ dh leaving town tonight.
We're forecast to get up to 43 today.
Dd15 is under a lot of pressure with schoolwork and other commitments. She was exhibiting some stress yesterday. . . I'm hoping (and praying) she makes it through this week OK. After being out 3 days last week due to weather, the teachers have just piled on the work - and dd15 was gone Friday evening - sunday afternoon with the univ. honors band (she did bring hw with her and worked on it some, but there wasn't much time. She said they played for 12 hours on Saturday. Some kids apparently were having issues with bleeding lips from the hours of playing. She said the 4 oboists mainly had sore hands; her thumb is still sore. . . ), home at 3:30 Sunday, and then she was off again to France Band rehearsal 6 - 8 last night. Also, her synchro coach has added time to each practice this week - and she has a synchro figures meet tomorrow, which means she'll leave for school at 7:15 a.m. and come home "from school" around 10 pm. . . .Big science exam Thursday. Unusually huge history weekly assignment (26 terms; each term is about 1/2 a page writing) due Friday + weekly quiz. I believe she is presenting her history project today so that will be out of the way. And we still need to schedule a couple rehearsals with her accompanist for solo/ensemble festival coming up, and she is part of a percussion ensemble that will need to practice -- not to mention the duet she and a friend are doing. They haven't even chosen the duet yet. Anyhow, those are the big things. Finals start next week. She is a little stressed over her history grade, though it is a 93 for the semester. That is a little low for her comfort, apparently. . . She isn't easily stressed out so I'm feeling some mommy concerns.
I'm eating lunch now. After I'm finished, I'll. . . .
- switch laundry
- reclaim the kitchen
- work on teaching - outline flow for this week.

Re: Making Monday Matter
Hello Dear Ladies,
Another sunny day here!
Slept in the recliner again, Went to sleep about 3 woke at 8. Had oatmeal and fell back to sleep untill 11.
tried several times to sleep in bed with extra pillows but it just hurt too much.
One of these nights I will sleep in my bed.
Made some phone calls and supervised some laundry.
Going to call dsister-inlaw and chat for a few minutes.
Great day to all.
