Greetings from Doveland!
It's a snowy, icy, frozen mess around here. Dh, who doesn't like snow, picked the perfect week to be away! He flew out before the big snowstorm & is missing all the ice here today. Thankfully the snowblower has been working well, & I've been getting some really good workouts shoveling steps, in front of the shed & under bird feeders. I was nervous about losing power which was strongly predicted on our local weather reports last night. I gathered up an oil lamp, the kerosene heater, my headlamp, plus filled the tub with water just in case. Figured that even if power was off for hours or days, I could always empty perishables into a cooler & place it on the deck. It was too warm to do that during Hurricane Sandy.
The view from my windows is so beautiful. Every tree branch still has some snow on it from the storm a few days ago as it never warmed up enough to melt. Now they also all have a coating of ice on top of that. The yard looks like a sea of shiny crystal. I'm so thankful we didn't get much ice, or limbs & power lines would be down. The news says many in my area & surrounding states have lost power. I'm very grateful to have heat & electric! Poor dh has been worrying from afar, but feels much better after we spoke this AM. I feel bad for all those who have to drive in this mess.
There are so many chores I could work on but I'm declaring this afternoon a "Snow Day" & will make myself a cup of hot cocoa & pull out a jigsaw puzzle

. But first I'm going to cuop as I'm several days behind.
Stay safe & warm, everyone! Hope you have a wonderful day!
