Oh Sadie, I'm so sorry they didn't treat you better. I'd complain also.

Still have not walked the ddogs, was waiting around until home health care nurse called after seeing dmom. Turns out my brother did not get her glucose test strips yesterday like he was supposed to....sigh. OTOH the good news is that apparently the home health care nurse gave the two of them what for over the glucose strips, his smoking in the house and a few other issues. Nice for them to hear it from someone who's not family.

I am going to change shoes and head out and walk the ddogs next.

MT, good luck as moderator. If you get along with the other woman who wanted the job, could you recruit her to do some of the work with you and make things easier for you?

Lynlee, your plant looked a little different but not much. The flowers are different. The description fits and their advise to pick up all the cuttings or they'll root sounds right too. I'm thinking maybe just another type of the same plant. A Nuisance!

Hope Kath & Ken are enjoying their day with DSon.

OKay, -5° is TOO cold! Yikes!

Bookie, I loved your line: "Nap with the calico cat." Brought up such a nice image. It is 82° here now, a little cloudy and we've had a couple showers. I'm back to my capris. Unbelievable that I can be cold at 74° in the house, but I am!

Aw, Sadie, so sorry you had to go through all that. Hope they at least knock some off the bill.

Harriet, good luck with the new washing machine. I'm not entirely sold on front loaders. They get that odor problem, though thankfully not me so far, because I am careful. I believe I had a roper refrigerator once in a rental apartment and it was fine.

Not much going on today. DH is out and I have blessed silence for a while. Some desk chores and I went to 2 banks. Then I worked on rental spreadsheet which I'd started. Somehow it got damaged and comes up all gibberish and i tried to fix but couldn't so had to start over. It did not take me too long to set up another one and I only had 1 line posted on the old.

Woke up with headache and I've taken something. I believe I need new glasses but I am going to hang on to old ones as long as I can before seeing dr., as they are so expensive.

Greetings from Doveland! :)

It's a snowy, icy, frozen mess around here. Dh, who doesn't like snow, picked the perfect week to be away! He flew out before the big snowstorm & is missing all the ice here today. Thankfully the snowblower has been working well, & I've been getting some really good workouts shoveling steps, in front of the shed & under bird feeders. I was nervous about losing power which was strongly predicted on our local weather reports last night. I gathered up an oil lamp, the kerosene heater, my headlamp, plus filled the tub with water just in case. Figured that even if power was off for hours or days, I could always empty perishables into a cooler & place it on the deck. It was too warm to do that during Hurricane Sandy.

The view from my windows is so beautiful. Every tree branch still has some snow on it from the storm a few days ago as it never warmed up enough to melt. Now they also all have a coating of ice on top of that. The yard looks like a sea of shiny crystal. I'm so thankful we didn't get much ice, or limbs & power lines would be down. The news says many in my area & surrounding states have lost power. I'm very grateful to have heat & electric! Poor dh has been worrying from afar, but feels much better after we spoke this AM. I feel bad for all those who have to drive in this mess.

There are so many chores I could work on but I'm declaring this afternoon a "Snow Day" & will make myself a cup of hot cocoa & pull out a jigsaw puzzle :-) . But first I'm going to cuop as I'm several days behind.

Stay safe & warm, everyone! Hope you have a wonderful day! :)

((Sadie)) I agree - that sounds like awful treatment! I hope they do give you a discount.

Moving slowly here. .
x a.m. routine
x lunch
x myriad emails - I do spend a lot of time on emails, moms group stuff, band uniform return stuff - trying to figure out how to ask for parent help. Also, figuring out paperwork to take GG with us to FL in a couple weeks
x looked up air boat tours in the Everglades
x folded pile of bedding that has been sitting on laundry room counter for weeks
x lol #1, washed, dried, folded and away; lol #2 washed and drying; lol #3, washing.

I forgot to plan a meal for tonight, but we have enough leftovers to cover, I think.

All after school activities have been cancelled due to poor road conditions. I suppose that means girls' art club is cancelled, which means they'll be home soon. And dd15's synchro practice has been cancelled! Dd15 could really use a break. And church activities have been cancelled too - which means no youth group. All this means -- we can eat dinner together as a family, all 5 of us! :) That makes my mommy heart very glad.

Next:
- reconcile one bank statement
- greet girls
- update laundry
- change clothes
- go to the gym

Just checking in -- late, late start today. I had bad dreams -- odd, dreamed my dparents were getting a divorce, and I was very upset with my ddad. Guess I was blaming him for leaving us? * sigh * Anyway, that was sorta depressing.

ALSO, I am sooo sore. This is a good thing. I've been doing floor exercises for the past two days, and boy... I can certainly feel it in my back and in my stomach. Definitely taking this as a sign I need to be working those muscles! Whew.

Dmil has called... to report that she is COMPLETELY out of toilet paper. * another sigh * Must make another run to the store for her.

And dgs will be here around 3:00-3:30 for a few hours while ds gives music lessons.

OH -- exciting news -- we have new baby cousin!

Hurriedly cuop... wanted to give (((BIG HUGS))) to Sadie... my goodness... that is terrible, the way you were treated at the hospital. Good for you, for speaking up!

Harriet, my washer/dryer don't match either. I have one of the HE-type, maybe that's all they make anymore -- and it is a top-loader. I like it.

MT -- ditto comments that you certainly couldn't control that vote -- and you were certainly deserving of the position. You'll do a great job!

(((Twins)))

(((Dee & Mr. Dee))) Sad to hear about the loss of your dfriend.
Tomorrow is another day.

Yes, I want Bookie's afternoon.....
"Nap with the calico cat."

I might lie down for 45 minutes. I have felt all week like I am catching a cold but it's never really gone full blown. Bit of a sore throat and ear ache and a sneeze now and then. I'm really cold too.

Just venting.....With my dmom I really do want for her to be able to stay at home as long as possible. But it takes a toll on me and I'm frustrated that dbro is living there and isn't very conscientious about follow through. He does p/u groceries and meds and do her laundry (and I can't buy her anything "nice" because it all goes through together) and is finally following through on making sure she takes a.m. meds at least. But it frustrates me that she talks about how much she aches but then she's not getting all her meds on a regular basis because she forgets and he doesn't follow up on the thyroid meds and evening meds.

I'm not sure what happened with the glucose meter strips. When I left at two or so yesterday dbro was going to pick them up with her lisinopril. I had explained to dmom and dbro that the doc sent CVS a script for them and I called the insurance company to get the pricing and they were about $40. Apparently she told dbro not to get them because she was afraid that Medicare wouldn't cover them and didn't remember what I had told her.

And the doc had advised her to drink several Ensure daily because doc was worried about poor nutrition - dmom has lost 20 pounds over last couple of years w/o trying. And dmom keeps pointing out to me that the Ensure "have quite a bit of sugar in them."

I ended up calling in and not going to work.

I do feel better but it is so COLD out and it will be very cold in WM tonight. Also if I get coughing too much I have a bladder issue and I really couldn't make it to the rest room in time.

So just to avoid potential embarrassment I'll stay home tonight and tomorrow night too. Told DH I still want to go to PT tomorrow and he said that fine, one got nothing to do with the other.

Well, all I've done since last ci is finish paperwork for GG (this included typing up an itinerary w/ hotel and flight details), greet girls, eat snack. Goodness, I feel hungry. :? I don't think I really am, though.

Dd18 couldn't get the little sedan up the driveway b/c of the snow, so I'll skip the gym and spend some time outside shoveling the driveway. It's good exercise, and the fresh air envigorates me - and I won't think about eating. Plus, Maia will get some exercise as she chases the shovel. For some reason, she LOVES brooms, vacuum cleaners, shovels, windshield scrapers, etc. I think they all look like magnificent sticks to her. Too tempting for a puppy. .. LOL!

Since we'll all be here for dinner, the girls are proposing that we go out tonight rather than Friday night. Besides, only dh and GG will be around for dinner Friday night - unless we go early. I want to go to a church women's program at 7:30 Friday night.

Dd15's friend came home with the girls this afternoon.

I will update laundry before heading outside.
