Fantastic Friday

Post by lucylee »

Well, since I completely "lost my time" (as my late dmaternal grandmother used to say) on Thursday, I will just start Friday fresh for you all.

CUOP and wanted to send lots and lots of (((BIG, BIG HUGS))) for Harmony and Mr. Harmony... and lots and lots of prayers for successful surgery & recovery, and for peace re: all business matters in the meantime.

Also -- I just LOVED this from Harriet... how true, how true...
Exhausted from the million phone calls it takes to deal with the fact that one dear aunt wasn't answering her phone this evening. I'm sure lucylee would understand - it takes a village of relatives, and each one has to have updates on the research and then updates on the discovery she's fine. ... Ultmately, she's fine - she was unable to answer her phone because she was on the phone. Dear Uncle here beside me was so grateful for my last call back. He says now he can sleep tonight.
We had call from cousin in Texas last night, wanting to find out about our weather...
and call at midnight from dmil re: status of our menfolk on the roads...
My men arrived home at 4:00 a.m., as I reported in J&C. DS quickly deposited himself in the guest bed and dgs continued sleeping in the pack & play in the den.
Until 7:30... when it sounded like there was more playing going on than sleeping and dh was very irritated after his 6.5 hour drive home!
Got up, changed dgs's diaper, put him to bed in the baby bed -- where he should have been already! :oops:
I went to sleep on couch so as not to awaken dh again...
and then 9:30 a.m., call from cousin in southern part of our state this morning, wanting to find out about funeral arrangements for friend's father, much closer known to him than to us, so I was not much help there -- but was able to give him phone number of local funeral home.
Back to sleep for me...
until DGS was up at 10:30 for good.
He had his breakfast and we went out to play in the snow. :D

I got some nice pictures of dgs in the snow, but he was not really carried away with it, and we didn't stay out long. It was already melting quite a bit, but there is still plenty out there. It was the first time I really remember having "good" snow. Usually our snow is very icy and not good at all for building snow men. This time, it would have been possible to roll the whole yard up in a huge ball, I think, if one had been inclined to do so. We were not. We made a feeble attempt at a minature snowman, about dgs's height, but were seriously lacking in decorations for him. Who has a corncob pipe around the house anymore or coal to make two eyes??? (However -- saw that dcousins made a wonderful snowman, don't know what they used for facial features, but topped him off with a late dgfather's hard hat with his name right there on the front! Gave me a big LOL & a smile!)

DS started debating how long he should stay -- dh had gone to post office, dgs was having quite a lot of fun rearranging toys all over the house, and ds began to remind me of Barney's "that's the plan" episode -- where he sits in the porch rocker and keeps repeating what he's going to do... go down to the drug store, get a bottle of pop... remember, Harriet? Till finally, Andy (I think) says, "Then do it! Do it! Go to the drugstore..."
Finally when ds said he guessed he probably ought to go home, he needed to go home, needed to get dgs ready to go... for about the 100th time, I said, "Well, get him and go!" :shock:
I was sooo exhausted. He LOL (thank goodness!) and I told him -- "It's not that I don't want you around, but that dog does need to be seen about." (She had been in her kennel (?) in the house since ddil had left for work Wed. afternoon.)

After they left, I went back to sleep -- after fielding another phone call -- this time from duncle, apparently just bored with the snow. He wanted to talk about family photos he was looking at.

FINALLY s2s and went to dmil's w/dh, ate supper... and I have slept some MORE since then.

~~~~~
Sorry I'm using this for my "journal" today, LOL... but anyway -- the day (Thursday) has been a total loss. This whole week pretty much has been. Have been busy with dgs for the majority of every day, it seems, and he will be back this evening for a few hours. HOWEVER... I do intend to reclaim some sense of order here tomorrow. Bathrooms are in desperate need of attention. I have done NOTHING on the focus area. I did get all the laundry done Wednesday, and had the dishes washed and kitchen was neat and tidy when I went to bed. Saturday -- back to college town with dh... Sunday -- church... Monday -- Wmart... Tuesday -- nursing home (pm) w/ds-dgs... Wednesday -- ds & family will be going to visit her family for the rest of the week.
So I'm not complaining about all the grandma duty... just explaining why nothing is getting accomplished. :roll: :oops:
Enjoying every minute with him though, and even though we're not "making memories" that he will probably ever really remember, at this age, I know that the relationship we build will be the foundation for the rest of his life. My grandparents were sooo incredibly important to me, and I just hope I can be half the wonderful grandparent to him that they were to me.
All right... I'll see y'all sometime later in the day. ;)
I'm thinking Lucylee gets lost in time with all the grandma duty. big hugs for you to enjoy that. It really is full time isn't it. When he is there I mean - and he is there heaps. Glad your menfolk are home safe.
Hugs to the Harmonies too. Prayers for getting what absolutely must be done in so few days, and successful op for dh.
I went to osteopath today - 1st visit to him. My neck is "complicated". My description of it was rick rack tied in a knot. I need to take it easy for few days. That was my first proper adjustment since my accident last June now that I have finished w hosp PT poking at knotted muscles.. I'm to see how it goes. resting is a priority, and I haven't really done that though I did short change dog on his walk - I trailed him in yard on long trailing rope, untangling as needed, then slowest small block walk ever.
I'm not sure whether to go buy some dinner or just throw some rice and frozen veg at a pot, and a couple of eggs in later. I don't think I have the energy to go out.
I think the couch has my name on it.
Rang both dds just before.
Happy Valentines Day Everyone.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.
Happy Valentine Day!
(((Harmony)))) you and DH are in my thoughts and prayers as you prep for Monday.
Yesterday LO had appt with ENT doctor for decision on ear tubes. Yup. Another set is needed. He has been without his ear tubes (fell out naturally) for about 3 months and now the fluid is back, ear infections happening again and his hearing is greatly affected. So surgery is scheduled (March) for that and other things. Since his allergies are so bad, they will also will do another allergy test when he is knocked out. That will be easy surgery (gas) if that is all that is needed. However yesterdays CAT scan shows LO has some sinus problems. ENT doc will scope LO sinus when he is knocked out for the ear tubes. If problem is found, they will insert IV and knock him out for more surgery. I'm dreading the pre-op blood work more than the surgery. Ugh. Last time it took 4 of us to hold him down. I have a teeny tiny hope that he will do better this time. However, nothing happens for 3 weeks so I need to put that dread away and forget it for awhile.
Fantastic Friday plans include making heart shaped cinnamon rolls for breakfast and baking a 3 layer heart shaped cake with LO (he asked last week if we could)
Good morning! I went missing yesterday after my original post. I was out to moms group and Target 8:30 - 1:30, and then phone calls, emails, driving dd15 around, making dinner all ate up my 4.75 hours in the afternoon. The bright spot was that dh got home early enough to eat dinner with us (he showed up late, but at least he was there for some of it) and then go to the orchestra concert. We left for the concert at 6:15. We got home at 9:45, so that was our evening. The concert was in a large (and historically beautiful) auditorium on campus; every middle school and high school had an orchestra performing. Not such a good idea in terms of parking and roadways in that area of campus. Some one way roads were at a stand still, and it took us 20 minutes to drive 5? blocks to a parking garage where dh's handy Univ. parking tag enabled us to park very conveniently and for free.
Phone calls yesterday: unblocked cc, which was blocked probably b/c dh was putting charges on it in San Fran while I was doing the same here in MI. More phone calls - switched hotels for one night, confirmed manatee snorkeling - though there apparently is no bathroom on the boat and we'll be out for 3.5 - 4 hours. With 3 teenage girls. :shock: Called re: reserving kayaks in the Everglades Natl Park - they weren't answering their phones. Called and then emailed to reserve an airboat tour; they also were not answering but sent an email saying they'd be in touch soon. I'll call both of these again today.
OK, those cinnamon rolls look yummy and festive! ((LO))
Oh, ((Harmony and Mr. Harmony))
Nice to see lucylee and Lynlee here bright and early this a.m.!! Fun when you use us as a journal, lucylee. :) Sometimes I do too. . .
I may skip WW this morning; the idea of yet another morning meeting this week is just a bit disconcerting. Today, I'll be out all afternoon, 1:30 - after 5 pm. I could really use the time this a.m. to get things squared away in the house and for our travels.
I got up early today to prep Valentine's Day cards, etc. I can't do that anymore after the kids go to bed b/c they go to bed so late. Dd15 went to bed at 1:30 a.m. It took her that long to finish her hw after the concert - and she brought hw with her to the concert to do while watching other orchestras perform. And she worked on it before the concert too. I'm looking forward to her having a good break next week.
So far today:
x prepped Valentines for everyone
x gathered laundry
x folded load of pants from last night
x lol #1 in dryer now; lol #2 washing
x had my tea
Today:
- a.m. routine
- prep for tutoring (have ideas and sources, plus some leftover; should go quickly)
- Walgreens run for odds and ends
- house tidy
- tutor 1:45 - 3:15-ish
- dd15 to oboe lesson 4 - 4:45
- dd15 to synchro by 5
- dd15 to a bday party at 8 pm?
- at some point, meet with dgirl 17, friend of both dd15 and dd18, to review animal care
- out to eat; somewhere fairly fast and lo-cal; I'm doing pretty good but the weekend was rough - as usual
- start packing
- bag up dog meals
- edit and print out phone numbers and directions to go with the dogs
- edit and print out directions for the smaller critters to stay here
Dh and GG are going to a show tonight. Dh lets each kid choose a show (play, concert,dance performance) they'd like to see and she chose one tonight, not sure what it is, a play or dance theater, I think.
Next - more progress on a.m. routine.
I've been up an hour or so, need to be moving. Must straighten for dcleaning lady and then get on the road to see dsis. I called yesterday afternoon to ck on roads and ck in with the social services lady, and she indicated that I should have rec'd a notice about a care team meeting on Feb 26. No, I've never rec'd a notice of a care team meeting so I need to find out why I'm not receiving notices. I'm also stopping off in ATL to get meds to ds and hot cocoa mix to ds today.
Before I hit the road I need to:
-straighten for dcleaning lady and leave ck
-walk ddogs
-get an extra key to dsis' house made for dcleaning lady
-what else?
For now.....
-get dressed, wash up, etc.
-breakfast
-meds + vitamins me + ddogs
-straighten GR, kitchen and bkfast area
-walk ddogs
I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentines day.
Knitting or crocheting is a fun reward for me, also taking a walk, after a round decluttering straightening here.
Sometimes I do not feel like I earned a reward if I did not get an area done like yesterday I worked on the table but got I inturrupted or the timer went off befor the task was complete.
Bs is up #203 today. Ivy it was interesting to read of that studdy your hubby is in!
We got labs done for our Rx last night and then dinner for our valentine last night letting others have our spot today.
For the last 3 nights I have went to bed at a decent time. This morning I woke up when dh's alarm went off and I usually don't hear it. I went ahead and got up. I am ready to leave the house and buy groceries.
I think I am helping dd2 get the rest of her things moved out of the house they never moved into. Boy was she steaming yesterday. The new phonebooks came out and their number was listed with the address of the house that they didn't move into. She had requested that their number be unlisted, so I can see why she was irritated that it was listed, at all.
Dh said they have changed our forecast for tomorrow and since it will be cooler, he won't be taking his motorcycle out as he had planned.
I am sure that nationwide everyone will appreciate spring, once it arrives, after all the cold and snow/sleet/freezing rain, etc. that we have all endured.
Happy Valentine's Day Y'all...
I made it home safe on Wed just missing the storms. I had a great time playing in the snow and enjoying the cold weather while I was home. My mom and I weren't able to do much, but we had a great time just hanging out.
Sweetie picked me up late Wed. afternoon and we stopped off for dinner before we came home. Before I went to bed I had my suitcase unpacked and everything was put away. I also did 2 loads of laundry and did the same. Yesterday I finished up all the laundry, washed all the dogs bedding, paid bills, did a grocery run, made a pot of beans and chicken, baked cookies and planted my sunflower seeds.
We are having a heat wave at the moment with temps expected to reach 87* today and perhaps 89* tomorrow. Of course this is breaking all the weather records. We have had the driest winter ever recorded. While y'all are freezing I am sweating. My concern is not for the moment, but what the summer temps will bring us.
I have a few things I want to do today...Sweetie and I have some backyard projects planned and I want to check out several stores for the things we need.
I am dressed and ready for the day...need to pull out my shorts...sorry about that. Yesterday I was working in a tank top and the pool was looking really good to me. I see an early swim in Willis' future ;-)
Y'all enjoy your day and don't forget to have some fun........
