Quick post and run:

Got up and made it to the treadmill for a short time. Meant to be on after church but something happened.

Church service went fine. We started late but the minister managed to finish early. I complimented her on her time bending ability!

Coffee hour was fun. We have a little 14 month old who is just walking up a storm and wasn't happy to sit quietly. Her dad took her out during communion. Yes, she was disruptive but there are under 20 adults in the congregation and none of us mind. So I talked to her momma about setting up a play area for her. Then I called a board meeting right there and then (everyone was there) and we decided to pull out a pew in the corner (we have three seating sections, no centre aisle, and curved pews so some of the ones at the back corner only hold two people) to make a play area. It will be done by next week. I'll find some nice cloth books and stuffed animals and we'll make up a quiet zone for her. It might not worked to make her daddy happier about keeping her up if she's fussy but it is worth a try. And it makes them feel welcomed.

Leaving church I fell on the ice by the car and am sore now. It wasn't a bad fall (I went down relatively smoothly so am unlikely to be bruised) but bad enough to make my knee, ankle, and hip hurt. Sheer ice covered by powder snow. And I was annoyed with dh. He insists on holding the door for me. Which meant I wasn't holding onto the door when my foot went out and I went straight down. Had I opened the door myself, I would have have been holding onto something. Actually, I probably would have slipped earlier and then adjust my motions having been reminded of the ice.

Came home, limped upstairs, did a round of physio (knee and back) with ice, then iced my ankle and hip. Had a quick lunch, did a load of laundry and then headed out to my afternoon service.

We were going to do a border run but I'm better if I'm moving around than if I'm sitting so we put that off for tomorrow.

My afternoon service went well. Had fun with the music.

After that, we came home, I folded laundry and then watched an episode of Downton Abbey. Started dinner and then watched another while it cooked. Dh was working hard so was surprised when I poked my head into the office and told him dinner was ready. I think I'll watch the season finale now and get it over with.

We are having a rash of falls in the village!

lucylee, I left off the words "yogurt covered" but you probably know that's what I mean. I first found them at a home economist type store in bulk and grabbed them for a baby shower. But more recently have found them conveniently right at Harris Teeter. There are pre-packaged pink OR blue ones in their snack aisle, top shelf where odd items are. Those are the only colors I've seen there. Sorry I don't remember a brand name. Excellent quick addition to a baby shower table when mixed into a pretty bowl with white ones (which are more easily found). Looks delicate.

Related my nature walk today in A, C, and N thread. Sammie is a wonderful companion, doing a much better job of traipsing around odd terrain, though she is so much "older" than I am. Fun to figure out how to find wild plants the way my mother used to.

Automated call from principal explains the confusing ways the school system will be adding time to the schedule to make up snow days. Whatever happened to just taking a day away from summer vacation. High Schoolers will be getting 5 mins LESS time for lunch each day, for the rest of the year, for instance. Silly. Dd barely has time as it is to get to the lunch line, wait, then buy and wolf down a little lunch before rushing off toward locker or next class. She needs to seriously consider carrying some kind of lunch with her.

I know I would be in huge trouble if I EVER called my dd at 6:02 a.m. even if it was her birthday.

I bought the mascara on my cruise shopping list yesterday. Mike was not amused. (He hates when I have make up on, he prefers my natural look.)

Update on spare room. I had a nap. Then I spoke to my sister on the phone. Then I checked out F ace boo k. ...

Cue Hallelujah Chorus LOUD!!! DFosterCat2 Ripley has been adopted as of Saturday!!! This is the one that was vying with dResidentCat14 for queen of the house. I am enjoying the lovely silence, uninterrupted by hisses, growls, and squirts of the water bottle. Her son, who was born last July, is still with me, but seems ok. In nature, a tomcat his age would be long gone from Mom by now. This may actually help him.

DD12 had a successful sleepover last night. However, not much actual sleeping was done. They enjoyed cereal for dinner, made rice krispy treat ice cream cones, and watched movies. They also managed to get up early and we were on time for Sunday school and church. At church, we sat in front of a mom who was having trouble getting her kids to be quiet and settle down. I didn't want her not to come back, so I made sure to invite her to our after church playground get together. It's not formal, just a group of parents who put their kids on the church playground for 10 or 15 minutes to get the energy out of them. Until she joined us, it was all families with a child who has autism or aspergers. Not planned, just worked out that way. (Of course, her family could be affected too, who knows).

Following that, DD and I had Chinese (big surprise, right?). I suggested a movie, but she wasn't interested. We found a computer game, a mystery/puzzle type with a free trial. There were a couple of frustrating patches, but she got the hang of it and wants to continue it to completion. It seems she has now found computer games she likes. And better still, they are ones I can do, too.

Now, I suppose I should get something to eat. I should also do some cooking, I am almost out of freezer meals (but not the ingredients to make them). I will try the de-skunking solution on the smelly pants. What could I have gotten into? I should also do some disaster recovery in my house, it looks like a hurricane came through. What I really want to do is crochet with the computer reading me a book.

ohhhhh.....hope you're not too sore tomorrow, Kathryn. Ice is not good. I know this for a fact -especially than encountered in Canada.

We watched movies today. Too cold to do much else. My sinus ear thing had b een acting up.
I did 15 min. On the gazelle I need to domthe rest. Planned left overs for dinner done.

Been watching The Academy Awards Show. We "lost it" during Bette Midler's song. Played at my bro's funeral. He passed Christmas Eve 1994, age 36, heart attack. Anyway, I love the song and glad I had my bro for so long. ♥
The Awards Show is good, lots of laughs, pretty dresses, and funny senses of humor, too.
It's sad when they show who passed on in the past year though.
It's pouring rain here. DH made me strawberry sugar-free Jell-o.
I sold another May short story. Am so happy! Now we're working on June stories. (Supposed to be.) If we want to. Will work tomorrow, too.
Better run. I'm trying to declutter the top of the end table, too.

Ivy -- yes -- I am sooo happy to say I am able to give myself allergy shots now. For several years, I had to go to the allergy doctor or let the school nurse give them to me, and one day she was absent and I came home all frustrated... and I thought, "Well, she says little kids in kindergarten give themselves insulin shots... so surely I can do this..." AND I DID IT!!! I was so thrilled I called my dmom and she thought no-telling-what had happened, I was so excited.
So I give myself one (in each thigh, that's easiest for me) every Sunday. I do think it helps, but I still have allergy symptoms. Not as severe, though. Oh -- and no, it doesn't hurt. Sometimes I barely feel it at all, and sometimes it stings just a little. The needles are very small, and of course, I don't have to worry about finding a vein or anything, just have to break the skin. Dmom had given herself allergy shots at one time, and she said the nurse told her to pretend your throwing a dart -- kinda pop it in quickly, w/your wrist. That's what I try to do.

Harriet, I figured those were the yogurt covered pretzels, but I had never seen them in colors. How neat! I was thinking maybe you had drizzled pink icing over the white ones or something. (I guess one could do that, if no colors were to be found, or dip them in pink icing... hmmm... will try to remember that and maybe try it sometime.)

I want to see the Oscars... but right now, a very sleepy boy, who refuses to sleep, is watching SproutTV. * sigh *
His daddy and granddaddy are looking at old Grand Ole Opry programs.

I watered plants, s/s kitchen, and cleaned out a filing cabinet drawer tonight. We also visited dmil and ate out w/ds & dgs. Ddil is working.

Today was db1s birthday. He is 58. He is feeling much better and things are back to normal for him. He was the one that was so sick in late January and spent 9 days in the hospital.

Yes, Ivy I will be 60 next Sunday. Dh came up with idea before Christmas, to go to Las Vegas, since the Nascar Sprint race was to be there on my birthday.

I ended up working on balancing my budget and checkbook, while listening to the Oscars. I was so glad that Let it Go won song of the year. It's from the Disney movie Frozen. I also was glad that Matthew McConaghey won best actor.

I did zero cleaning today, so tomorrow I will have to hit it.

Lucylee, It's great that you can give yourself your own allergy shots like this. I'm glad they're small needles. Sometimes, when DH injects his diabetes med into his stomach, there's a bit of bleeding under the skin near the injection spot. They told him that's normal and sometimes happens. I wonder if your shots' injection site ever bleed, too.

Lilac, Happy Birthday, to your dbro almost too late, today. I'm glad he's feeling better now, too. It's great that you'll be able to see the Nascar Sprint race on your birthday in Vegas, too. Your DH is very creative! What a neat idea and to celebrate a milestone at the same time. Enjoy!

We saw the Academy Awards. I was happy with the Best Picture, etc.... I thought that the movie with Bruce Dern in it should have won something, but oh, well. Only so many Oscars are picked and some don't make it. Some of the dresses were lovely. I wondered why Angelina Jolie seemed to be shaky on her feet and needed so much support. I can't find anything on-line about it, but if it's a health-related problem, it eventually comes out. I know she last year had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery because she carries the cancer gene. Her Dmom died of cancer and Angelina wants to be there for her kids as they grow up, too.
