Motivating Monday

I wish Mike was having a happy day. It's not good here today at all. Plus his mom and dad haven't called yet, so that's adding to the unhappiest of birthdays ever.

CathyS I really think men have a harder time with milestone birthdays than women. For my dh, his 30th birthday was awful and his 50th not much better. He was not fun to be around at all. Oh, by the way, I think that is so sweet that Mike likes you with your natural beauty showing.

Okay, that is a really smart idea buying extra Legos to have on hand for gifts.

I have had lunch, showered, put supper in the crockpot and washed up those dishes, breakfast and lunch ones, also. After that I shoveled the drive. I was only out there 25 minutes in the sun. I just felt like I needed fresh air after being in the house for 3 days.

Dm told me a tip that she had heard from daunt. If you have trouble peeling your banana because the stem just doesn't want to cooperate, then peel it from the bottom. Daunt seen that on a animal show, it seems that is the way monkeys peel their bananas. I had to try it and it works. Then I was laughing to think that monkeys can teach us new tricks.

Ok, on to the housework................

Harriet, it is unbelievable about the lack of communicating going on between the dr. and nurses. I am sure it happens everywhere, which is scary and sad. No telling how many deaths or serious complications occur because of it.

Hi everyone! Gosh, four pages and it is not evening yet! (In my timezone at least).

My motivators:
1. Prayer - I ask for motivation and often get it
2. This Group - where else can one say "I cleaned my bedroom" and not get funny looks
3. Deadlines - for example, must get tax info together, appointment is tomorrow!
4. Company Coming - a double reward, fun guests and clean house
5. Just Getting Started

That being said, I did nothing useful after posting last night, just finished a book. Right now, I have a LOL ready to be dried, smelly jeans soaking in Skunk Away, and about to start job search stuff. I will be posting the skunk away recipe. It really did take the skunk smell off the dog, instantly.

The growls and hissing have not totally gone from my house. Now that the top foster cat is gone, the two tomkittens are trying their luck with the queen. They are learning respect for their elders.

Off to post the recipe then look for work!

Waiting for the kitchen and dining area to dry. Then I will vacuum and dust the living room and dining room. Just noticed that I have 2 shelves that are sitting empty, since putting away the Christmas stuff. Might as well take the time and put every back where it belongs.

When I watched dgds 4 & 2, on Saturday, they asked for mani-pedi's. Testing them, I asked what that was. They looked at me like I was really dumb and told me that is when I paint their toenails and fingernails. When I was a child my aunt would paint mine and I always felt so girly, so I always do theirs when they ask. But this is the first time they have used that phrase. I told dd2 and she said she doesn't know where they picked it up.

Love #1, 2, and 5, Elizabeth! Who else gets excited with us over cleaning out a drawer or finally making a phone call? So true!!

Didn't do much but eat an enormous snack that probably used up the rest of my WW points for the day.

We have several friends here who are MDs and nurses, and I think they do the very best they can. Dfriend R is an MD in a highly ranked research hospital, and we think R is a fine and very careful one - plus, he actually has amazing social acumen, and is also working to improve the overall system. I can't imagine him not hearing the important things from a nurse. But communication does take 2 people, and stuff does happen, I'm sure. Dfriend B is a nurse - but she is a nurse in the OR, so her communications re: the patient would only be in regards to the surgery happening at the time.

My dmom DEFINITELY has that fear! I admit, I do too, to a lesser extent.

My dmom was already depressed enough, and when she realized that she was 69, not 68, as she apparently had been holding in her head -- well, then she was really depressed. Plus, it is FREEZING out here (27 degrees) and it's not even dark yet. I can't believe she's going to join us for supper. I can hardly stand the thought of going back out, myself.

We just got home from Wmart...

Now off to dmil's.

This morning when dh turned on his shower, it started spewing water from places it shouldn't. So he ended up using the main bath shower. He came home early so he can fix it. It is a plastic gasket, so if he can't find one, he will just buy a new shower head.

The living room and dining room have been cleaned and the stuff that belongs on the shelves has been unpacked and put where they belong.

So guess I will go work on cleaning our bedroom. It tends to get neglected as far as dusting, so better do that.

I had a miscommunication with my doctor on Feb. 25. He said that I'm supposed to use an antibiotic ointment on my rash, 3x/D. So I told him, "OH! I've ALREADY got the antibiotic ointment!" HE meant a prescription! *I* meant OTC! So today's March 3, almost 1 week later, my rash is worst-looking, more reddish, and is spreading. Gee! I WONDER WHY! So once again, I go to his computer print-outs, RE-READ the med he's talking about, look at mine, and it's like DUH, WHERE IS YOUR BRAIN!?!? I called their office, the machine was on, I left a message, then later called back, talked to the nurse. She reviewed the file and nope! Sure enough, he never prescribed it, which is probably because I told him I already had some, assuming it was the prescription. She said not to worry, it's a miscommunication on both of our behalves, and they've faxed the prescription in. So DH will get it and another one in the a.m. I'm staying home, because I need to wear dresses "commando" around the house and won't be caught DEAD in a big grocery store pharmacy without my panties! What if I fell? Anyway, I'm glad I have a good sense of humor about the whole thing and look forward to getting the proper ointment and getting back to wearing panties again!

Harmony, Thank you so much for letting me know about the skis on walkers. My MIL is deceased now, but you never know who might need one someday and the skis sound absolutely the neatest idea!

I worked on laundry, going back and forth from the phone to call DH's cell, the doctor office, the pharmacy, the doctor office, DH's cell again, and finally (I hope!) I've ended my phone calls now. Talked to our dneighbor's adult DD. He's had a stroke, is in rehab for 3 - 4 more weeks. I'd assumed he'd be home soon, so I designed an artistic handmade card welcoming him home! I called the DD told her A. S. A. P. to NOT let him open the card until he's home or he'll just feel so bad! She thanked me for the card, the last one I sent, and complimented me on us being the best neighbors and how she wishes she had neighbors like that, too. They confiscate the card.

CathyS, I'm so sorry about your sad birthday Mike! I had a rough time of it when I turned 30. I hope he'll perk up soon and that his parents call soon, too.

I've been decluttering, cleaning, putting stuff away where they should be, doing laundry, and helped put away groceries. I've been reading, too, because I'm behind and want to get caught up. Did a 30-min. walk, yoga and Pilates moves, too. So things are going well today.

OKay, I think your Legos idea to have on hand for gifts is great, too!

Nancy, I was wondering if Angelina Jolie had taken a medication to calm herself because she was petrified. She had prosthetic breasts, which showed in her dress, so she could've been very nervous about that and being judged. She had a double mastectomy last year and carries that cancer gene. I wonder if she's got cancer now, but I hope it's just merely a sore hip because I read on-line how during rehearsals, she was demonstrating the right leg through the skirt slit leg maneuver, how she pokes her knee out, then slowly swings it to the right, so the whole leg shows through the slit. I wonder if she threw her hip out, demonstrating during those rehearsals. Maybe she was on a pain pill and she was woozy from it.

Lilac, Sorry about your shower. Hope your DH gets it fixed soon.

My Dmom is a SHE, her Dmom was a BO, I'm a SHE and my DD is a SHE and my Dsis is a BO. So we have a mix of SHE's with BO, which sounds like SHE'S with body odor! Just teasing. I know it's Born Organized.

Well, change in our plans... * sigh * Dmom just called and said she just felt so bad -- IBS/Chron's symptoms -- cramps/gas/diarrhea -- and just can't "be around people" right now. So no birthday dinner with her tonight. She just cried -- said she was sooo tired of this, she knew we thought we couldn't plan anything with her, it was so frustrating, kept her out of church a lot, etc etc... I just feel so sorry for her. She didn't even want us to come out and give her her present. * sigh * Said we would re-schedule.
So... dh & I are going out w/ds, ddil, dgs anyway. Going to try a Mexican restaurant that ddil loves.

Hey Lucylee...I sort of liked being on Lucylee Time...it was fun knowing the rest of the world was asleep around here while I was wide awake and enjoying the silence. I was tired during the day....perhaps because I had been working non-stop for several days...and was able to grab an hours nap during that afternoon. I think I found my second wind and just sailed into the night. I will gladly admit I love driving in the late night/early morning time. I think it reminds me of when I was young teen and dating
