I'm going to post now in case we lose power. Then I'll turn off computer to save battery. I've been hearing thunder all morning, and we just had a quick shower of rain. Most of the storm is still north of us, but the rumbling is moving closer.

If anyone is interested...here is the webcam in Dublin, Ireland: http://www.earthcam.com/world/ireland/dublin/ I guess this is how some Irish celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I'd have to wear an orange hat though!

Lynlee... stay as cool as you can. Our summer was like yours this past year!
Lilac... it was nice of dd2 to donate all the bisque to the art center. I didn't know they still made Tang; haven't seen it in our stores for years.
Dee... hope your knee keeps getting better.
BookSaver... enjoy your Irish music.
Kathryn... hope your dd feels better today. Your ds seems to be enjoying himself more now.
Twins'... I'm glad you will have a quieter day today!

Saw on the news Los Angeles had a 4.4 earthquake this morning. Lots of shaking, but so far no damage reported!

Morning routine is done here. It has been raining and now the thunder is rattling the windows! Signing off for now!

Trying to unstick my behind.....

-breakfast
-clear kitchen counters
-empty dishwasher
-meds/vitamins me + ddogs
-get dressed/brush teeth/wash up

I had been meaning to comment to Helia on how much I enjoyed reading People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks. I thoroughly enjoyed the fictional history of the book overlayed with the details of how a book was bound, made and restored. Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague is by the same author and although it sounds depressing it is likewise a very good read.

Lilac, good success with all that cleaning at DD's. What does the tang do? I am getting some white build-up in my dishwasher (stainless steel interior) and need to figure out how to clean it. Anybody have any ideas?

Just doing some business paperwork now. We'll need a trip out later to pick up something at HD. DH snuck out this morning to jobsite by himself and came in very stiff and sore (I could tell) and he's resting now. He left his big truck over at church, so despite what I emailed to that lady, he is going ahead with those jobs. He has talked with one of the governing board, and sounded just really upbeat and laughing on the phone and I am so mad at both the church and him I just can't explain. He just won't cooperate and they have disregarded everything I've said.

I'd like to wash my hands of this whole so-called recovery thing but I can't. I'm just stuck in this horrible situation with no way out. NOBODY will listen to me. And I'm stuck with whatever results happen.

His therapy is tomorrow, I had it in my mind that it was Wed. but they called today. I think originally they tried to schedule him for last Wed, that's how I got Wed in my mind, though I had it correctly on the calendar. I'm hoping they talk some sense into him and he listens, but have no assurances that will be the case.

Cloudy and coming rain here today. School field trip up Dee's direction was cancelled for my DGSon.

Helia, Twins, I read that book also. Very interesting. Shocking their account of the crusades.

:D HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY, EVERYONE! :D

I woke up at 8 a.m. because this morning, our neighbor was NOT running heavy equipment at dawn! I guess I missed the dull roar, hum, the breaking of large branches, and downing of trees with the contraption. We're not entirely certain, but think he might work M - F, so it might be quieter over there this week. :D I "heard" he's going to build another house over there, to sell. Homes are so hard to sell right now. I wish him luck. Really. He's a really nice guy, we've heard, but since 1975, we've only met him once.

It's bright, sunny, and so gorgeous here today! DH will go to Safeway, I'll stay home to work on 2 short stories, as the deadline is looming at the end of the week. I also have titles to 4 July stories due by 4/19/14, so will log the titles to them. When my current 2 stories are done, I'll invent some nice characters' names, plot out my stories and get started on them by hand. If I get about 1/2 - 2/3 of the story done by hand, then logging them, and logging to the end goes quicker. I edit by hand, too, using my eraser on my pencil, and it helps me get a good "dew" on the story. I love it. :P

I have a list of little things to do, which NEED to get "done":
- Fill out 2 emergency cards
- Clean out my files in the junk drawer
- Label and date my peak flow meter graphs
- Label and date new Weight Watchers food journals from Aug. 3, forward, so they're done ahead
- Get my file for meds into the file for the dentist
- Put a copy of my emergency cards and meds list in my day runner and in the house next to my meds.

See, I went to a site for QVAR, where they said it's very important to have an emergency card that I'm taking that med. They had a free download for the card, too, to fill out. From what they say, I could have an asthma episode and the emergency people would need to know how much QVAR I take and what I'm on for meds, etc.. I figure that's a good idea, it just takes time to get everything filled out and put in their proper places, etc... I usually keep DH's list of meds updated, too; 1 for his wallet and 1 copy next to the phone. I think it's so important, because you "NEVER" know when there will be an emergency. I guess the Boy Scout and Girl Scout Mottos of "Be Prepared" are rising up their friendly heads. :D

My timer just went off, so I'm off to do breakfast and meds, supplements, and then s2s, get on my emerald green sweater set, my forest green jeans, green beaded necklace with jade maple leaf earrings. DD got them on her honeymoon in Canada for me, she's divorced now, but I gave her the $ to buy them for me, so I don't feel "odd" in ANY way they were bought on her honeymoon. Time marches on, and these things happen and for the better, too. I love the earrings. :D

HAVE A GREAT GREEN MONDAY!

Hi everyone. Taking a break from a long (long, long) overdue chore. I'm finally cleaning out an old filing cabinet. In January about 7 years ago I began using a new filing cabinet because the old one was stuffed. I liked being able to have a fresh start, & intended to gradually clean out the old one. Well, I never did do that  . Out of sight, out of mind -- plus procrastination when it was in sight :P !

This morning I heard a bird slam hard into the window & when I peeked out there was a red tailed hawk not five feet away, perched on one of the deck posts. He was huge, & gorgeous, too. I thought to run for my camera but guessed he would be gone by the time I got back so I just stood quietly & enjoyed the sight of him.

((Harmony)), you must be so frustrated! What is your dh thinking by working when he should be recuperating? At this point if he can drive himself to job sites & agree to volunteer work for the church when he should be recovering, he can drive himself to his therapy appointments. I wonder if the woman you emailed didn't pass along your message to anyone else at the church? Do you feel at all inclined to make a call to the board member(s) explaining that (no matter what dh says) doctor says he must not exert himself & can really harm himself by working too soon? I'm sure you wish you could just run away from all this for a while. Is that something you can plan for yourself, a mini vacation just for you when dh recovery is over? It would be something to look forward to.

Back to the filing cabinet. I've decided to shred papers at the end of each session rather than throwing everything in a big box & shredding when I'm completely done.

Waving ~~~~~ to everyone! :)

Dove, the nice thing about cleaning out the file cabinet after so long is that you shouldn't have to save much of what's in there!

Have done all except getting out of pajamas and getting cleaned up. I am moving slowly today. Ds is up, at least.

-get dressed, brush teeth, clean up
-clear kitchen table
-walk ddogs
-make the bed
-straighten MBR and bath
-sort and start a lol

Just can't CUOP properly and yet thank you Sunny for the glimpse into Ireland. I have just realized that I overlooked an entire page of Saturday PWYC.

Good luck on that filing cabinet, Dove! Hope it looks spiffy soon (or at least you know it looks spiffy inside).

Good luck moving the treadmill, Lilac! Hope you get a lot of use out of it.

Dee, wasn't it just days ago Mr. DeeClutter was enduring the effects of a snowstorm there? Longer, I guess. Time is flying. Can't believe he's already planning the spring trip north.

An email from my dd34 that I simply must share. She has just had 2 12-inch ponytails cut for charity. Her hair was far beyond her waist this visit and so beautiful. She shared her plans with us over the weekend. She and dsonil have done a bit of research and gotten some guidance on exactly how she wanted to do this and at what length she would make the decision, attempting to provide a donation that will really be what's needed and used. Told her I'd pray for her hair to go out into the world, doing good!

Harmony, my heart aches for you, and I feel a funny sort of guilt that this is a church family that is ... ... confused ... ... about the needs of a member (you). Having worked 7 years formally and many more years informally in church offices and closely with a variety of ministers, I almost want you to call for a counseling session and express this to the minister. You have a need. Have you gone to your email yet to see if there was a response? Just as lucylee gave you permission to say what you needed to say, I give you permission to go to your emails knowing you have communicated with pure motives :| (serious face, not kidding) and if someone else has a problem with what you need to say, it's their own fault. :|

I agreeing with Harriet about discussing your concerns with minister at your church. You're not talking "behind dh's back" but talking about your own needs for dh's healing and how difficult his level of activity is for you.
