Harriet, I guess I am lucky. My GP gives me lab paperwork at my office visit. And next appointment. I am told to get lab work done a week before the appointment so she will have numbers for us to talk about. Seems like your dr. is getting an extra dr. visit out of you her way. Unless, one does not know why the patient is coming and what labs will be needed. Though, if something else comes up during the visit, couldn't another lab be ordered? But we can't change their routines, can we?

Puttering around here. Big grey clouds appearing in sky, wind starting to pick up. I hope the guys are done soon over there.

I feel sorry for people who jumped the gun and bought new computers and got rid of perfectly good stuff because of the X P thing. I know I'm behind the times with my old computer here and my dumb phone, but everything works and if it ain't broke it's not getting fixed.

Harriet, I have to say again how pleased I am with my family doc. I still drive up our old mountain to see him. Meets/examines patient first, discusses any concerns, then blood work before one leaves. The odd thing is that they charge the price of a stamp to send you a copy of the blood work, but he usually writes a note on it regarding any concerns. I suppose if there was something badly out of whack he or a staff person would call to discuss follow up. He's enclosed a script if he felt I needed it, or suggested Vitamin D supplementation (two winters ago?) We were lucky enough to get dd in to see him last year when she had the concern over the foot that ended up being a stress fracture, and he was very through with her, discussing the X ray and showing her the area of concern. Have to say, he was more impressive than the specialist, who was in and out, prescribing the boot and leaving the rest to the nurse.

I have been enjoying this morning when I don't have to scramble out of the house.

We found a good deal and bought 2 new pc towers last night. I will be running on my netbook until I get the new thing set up and files transferred. It is a lot slower than even my old desktop, but at least it will keep me connected.
I don't know how people do internet stuff on little phones, though. This thing is small enough to be a challenge.

Hmm.... I probably need to go in for a check up. I think it has been a couple years. I went in last summer? to see a different Doc at the practice for a UTI. Haven't had bloodwork done for quite a while. When dd18 goes to the pedi endocrinologist (every 6 months), she gets her blood work done immediately afterward at the pedi lab in the hospital (she's been lucky enough to go to the brand new children's hospital for these appts. - though they are kicking her out of pedes after the next appt.) but I think originally they wanted it done beforehand. They seem OK with doing it in this order, however. When dd15 was taking acutane for acne, she absoutely had to have her bloodwork done before the appt. I usually scheduled the appt. late in the afternoon and took her in for bloodwork first thing in the a.m.

Done:
x 2 dogs to the vet; Maia was a bit of a handful at times, just puppyish excitement - to be precise, about 73 lbs of puppyish excitement. Thank goodness Pepper is such a calm gentle soul. . . They're both in good health. Maia needs to go on a diet. I need to collect a fe cal sample for Pepper. great.
x groc. store to pick up a couple German candies for GG - a Ritter Sport bar and a bag of haribo bears
x cleared everything off the granite island hot spot that does not belong to GG or dd18

Next - forge ahead with my a.m. routine. And keep monitoring dogs who (1) want in, (2) want out - and forget that they can let themselves out, or (3) are barking at passing pedestrians (Pepper and Tori only).

The ever over-excitable temple secretary is panicked about the Rabbi's computer, which still runs XP. I'm trying to push off the topic to the next president, who works for an org that I believe has an IT person who could be consulted.

I need to get myself rolling. I've put five temple emails on my li&t for today, one phone call for dmom and one for temple, and nine errands, most of which are not pressing. Obviously, not all will happen today! I know dh has an evening meeting so I'm not stressing about supper. So.....prioritize!

helia, all it takes is walking my dogs on a leash to get a sample, but they are used to their walks. Use a plastic grocery bag that is certified to have no tears in it to pick it up and then tie it off. I've had to get urine samples, now that is awkward!

Haven't done a thing except make the bed and empty the dish drainer. And eat breakfast and send two emails.

Our Revenue department has shut their website (during tax filing season) due to the Heartbleed problem. Dh has to try and fix our website (our webhost tells us that it is vulnerable.) Not sure about this website. I read that you should change every password you have but no point changing it until the website has updated to protect against Heartbleed and most companies are not saying there is an issue. Apparently signing into my bank is hard or impossible right now but no public statement. The person who noticed figures they are fixing the issue in the background and hoping no-one notices.

BTW: the XP issue and Heartbleed are not related as far as I know.

I updated my treadmill computer. Kitchen and bike computers await updates (dh is in charge of those.) He updated his Mac yesterday but did a double check and there has been a new release since yesterday afternoon so he has updated that.

Now I need to go s2s.

Twins, the vet office gave me a small bottle (about the size of a pill bottle) with a tiny scoop attached to the lid for the job. Hmmm.... I wonder if the bag would work better than the scoop? And just how much do they need?

GG has said that the sleepover has now shrunk to just 2 girls, though 5 are joining us for dinner and another one is meeting us at the theater. It's not clear how many will be at our house for cake after the movie. I think she is a little disappointed.
