Harmony, rereading your post of last evening, could you contest the unemployment claim? That is just a shame.

Ivy, when we fry almost anything here, the aroma is so enhanced by the coconut oil. I honestly believe you could fry carp (smelliest fish IMO, which I wouldn't want to fry) and it still wouldn't smell too bad in the house! LOL! I enjoy reading about your tiny granddaughter. Wouldn't it be nice if she kept the reddish tint to her curls.

Today has been a nonstarter for me after getting the two "must-do" tasks done first thing this a.m. DMacs was at the vet at 7 a.m. for his surgery and then I took ds to his summer job. Will be doing that until we make a decision about a car for him - or maybe I could just let him have my car some days? I took a pretty substantial nap also with dMoses upstairs in dd's bed. (giggle) CDs hasn't let me know what time I need to pick him up.

DD has texted me several times today with issues related to moving into apartment. OTOH, one text informed me she got her grades: 4 As, 1 B, 1 C.

I managed to get iTunes installed on new computer (new since Feb!) and backed up my iPhone. Should also back up iPad.

I need to p/u ds later and need to do a few "must dos" so my day isn't too much of a waste.
-bank for dd to reimburse for $$ for apartment cleaning fee
-dozen eggs back to temple (packed up by temple secretary last week by mistake, long story)
-grocery for milk, what else?
-finish a.m. routine at least


I will pick up dMacs after I pick up ds, so he can sit with him in the back of my car to reassure him. It's a very short trip to the vet.

-text ds about plans
-write check for dd that I will take to bank (whoops, may be getting too late?)

I was writing this more than two hours ago and realized that I needed to get to the bank by 4 p.m. So I took off to the bank, then on to p/y ds, drop off eggs at temple and p/u Macs at vet. Dropped off ds and Macs at home, then to grocery and got gas for my car.

So I've managed the must dos except for finishing a.m. routine. I honestly needed today for recuperation, I think. I can forgive myself for not accomplishing much, altho I did:
install itunes on computer and sync phone
get ds to work and home again
get eggs back to temple
get groceries (not organized list, just went through getting what I knew were needed)
gassed the car up, did some car clean up while filling
got Macs to and from the vet
stopped the guy who mows the common areas for the homeowners assn and asked him (and paid him) to mow our yard while he was here...that way dh doesn't have to mow tonight when he gets home.


now.....
-clear and wipe down kitchen counters
-clear breakfast bar
-make up the bed
-unpack my stuff from the trip

relax!

Dh got home but went up the pool where a bunch of people are hanging out.

Dmacs was edgy about the thunder but is getting around remarkably well. Vet said one screw was very loose and that there was definitely infection. They flushed it out well and sent off a culture to see what they are dealing with so we can get him on an appropriate antibiotic. Culture takes 3-5 days....

Back from dinner out with dd18. We went to a favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I'm hoping to get some forward momentum going this evening and get some more things on my list crossed off.

WTG to your dd for her grades, Twins! Does Macs have to wait 3-5 days for an antibiotic then? I hope his knee is feeling better.

Moles. . . we don't have that specific problem here, but we do have our own hole digging problem. Her name is Maia.

BTW, within 10 minutes after my post complaining about the heat, a small thunderstorm rolled through and temps dropped about 20 degrees. It is now a more reasonable temperature.

I'm off to check on laundry and put away the aerobed still in the playroom where dd15 and friend used it over the weekend.

LO ball game was rained out. OH saying that felt so good!! I'm going to have to repeat it. RAINED. and one more time just to because...... It rained!!!!!
You know you've been in extreme drought for too long when you get excited about a few sprinkles.

Bread purchase was okay but not repeatable. Maybe it was the pepperoni & mozzarella cheese in the bread that made it so heavy? I really want to support the young Mom's effort to bake. I might try again with just a plain loaf of bread before giving up.

Remember baby Hugh? We are doing a community fund raising effort for him (actually for his medical bills). I will be selling tickets to breakfast fundraiser for him during the next month.

NCIS season finale is about to come on. I'm going to watch it while doing laundry & monitoring LO bedtime routine.

Dizziness got better for awhile this morning until I tried to lie down for a short nap. Then it came back -- which tells me it's a little virus affecting sinus & ear. I never did fall asleep, but read the library book for half an hour and rested a little longer.

Then I gave up on sleeping and had some cheese for lunch. I decided that I felt well enough to drive.

I had wanted to do a bunch of errands this afternoon, but limited myself to the 3 most needed.

Came home for a short break, cooked a good chicken breast & veg in the skillet for supper.
Went to the library for a 1 hour meeting which, for a change, only lasted 50 minutes.


I will take it easy the rest of the evening and watch a little tv. Season finale of NCIS is recording now so I can watch it later by fast-forwarding through all the commercials. Until then I have a few things to do on the computer.

Hopefully tomorrow I will wake up full of vim & vigor, ready to jump into the day. I have scheduled to declutter a section of kitchen counter in the morning. Afternoon calendar includes at least 2 hours volunteer work at the library.

Okay ~ Congratulations on the rain! (I wish I could send you some of ours.)

Harriet, I "assumed" you were polishing ALL wood furniture with coconut oil, so the house's scent was divine!

I did 30 minutes of moving around the house, getting things done, & fell asleep in my recliner, since my cat had moved by then. I slept 1 hour; perhaps a tad more.

Oh, yes, those little curls have a reddish twinge to them, like she's getting being a redhead from my childhood cousins. So cute. I hope her skin won't be sensitive and she burns easily though.

I need to go read a letter from a new pen pal, dry & fold laundry, put it away, have dinner, & try to get in another 30 minutes of activity before bed. I wanted to write letters, crochet, & read, too. It looks like my DVD "Frozen," will arrive Friday by the end of the day. I can HARDLY WAIT to see it, listen to the songs/music in it, & see the story. I heard it's about a princess who does NOT "need" a prince. She sounds strong & modern in her personality. I don't know 100% if that's the animation's story line, but I'm still awfully excited. It's from my DD's B 'n' N gift card to me on Mother's Day. I got a pre-ordered day planner with the rest, for 2015.

OKay, did it cool down with the rain? That's good about the fund raising effort for Baby Hugh's medical bills, too.

Nancy, I heard that hair clippings into mole holes got rid of them. Then, when the grsons were coming last summer, someone said if you pee into mole holes, it gets rid of them, suggesting my telling my grsons. I did NOT tell them. They know I'm a nut anyway, so this request would've put me over the top!

Typical Tuesday for me...I woke up early as our neighbor's lawn service started mowing and trimming her yard like they do every Tues. morning. So after breakfast -- oatmeal and coffee -- I got routines started. After lunch dh went outside to work in back yard; after a while I took a cup of ice water out for him and finished mowing so he could come in and relax. Temp was up over 91* this afternoon. It's getting a little cloudier now and a little bit of breeze. Forecast is for 80% rain tomorrow.

After I rested a few minutes I got the medicine cabinet and under sink cabinet cleaned out and reorganized. Lots more room in there now!

Dee, it's good to hear your dh's dr. apt. went well. Keeping good thoughts for the test coming up!

Harriet, I guess lots of things change over time with companies buying and selling each other. We shopped at both Kroger and Giant Eagle when living up north - I liked them both. When we are in Va. we use Shoppers, as does dson's family. * Sorry your carpet is taking so long to arrive.
Wow, Sadie, that is so scary for your dson and you. Sure hope the cardio apt. goes well. ((Hugs)) for your dfamily!
((Harmony)), hugs for you as well! I'm sorry for all the stress and hard times you've had lately. Wish there was something I could do! ♥ No worries about the phone - I just wanted to say "hi".
Twins, good for dd getting good grades this year. Hope DMacs is doing well now that he's home again and his knee heals well.
And Helia, congratulations on dson's good grades this year also!

Some other thoughts: *I don't recall ever using coconut oil to cook with. *I've never lived in a house with a septic tank. But dh in his younger years (early 1940s) lived in a house with an outhouse. His street was in the city of Pittsburgh, but in that area some houses had city plumbing and some didn't. *Dee, dh drops his pills once in a while also. I find them when I pull out the recliner to vacuum carpet in living room. (I always tell him so he knows which one(s) he never took. *Catching colds from people in public places. After getting the flu really bad a couple of times while I was working, and now while shopping, if I pass by someone who sneezes or coughs, I turn my head and hold my breath until I am a couple of isles away. And the minute I get home I wash my hands! Is this too silly?? Don't know if it works or not, but I haven't been sick in the last 6 years. There's not much of an option when family and grandkids want to give hugs and kisses!

All right, I'm having too much fun here....I need to check the kitchen and make sure my sink in shiny! Greetings to everyone!

LOL! If you ever find a solution for that, please let me know. Maia would fit right in with our 4 legged diggers.

Our yard is filled with holes. LO is probably responsible for half of them. Pick your battles......and I decided long ago that little boys digging holes was better than not. All four of our grandsons have participated in effort to dig a deep hole that will reach China. SOMEday we won't have any little boys and will then fill all the holes and have a smooth yard. Then I'll probably develop weak ankles when I start walking on a level surface.

OK, your comments about little boys and your yard remind me of a comment our pastor made once. I don't remember the context, probably something about seeing the big picture and what is truly important in life: A young father was lamenting to a friend how his yard wasn't nice and green and smooth like his neighbors. His boys were digging holes, playing football and tearing up the grass and the dog was likewise tearing up things, making its own messes. The friend's comment to the father was, "Well, are you in the business of growing a healthy lawn or are you in the business of growing healthy boys?" --I didn't say it exactly the way he said it, but you get the idea.
