Oh dear, BookSaver! So it's a two-alarm smoke? Hope the house smells better soon.

OKay, good thinking for LO out in the heat - at least it's an evening game when sun is not high! Dd15 came home sunburned today from just the 35 minutes her 1.5-hour sports class spent outdoors after gym calisthenics and lessons. She was really not expecting that - she'll need to start wearing sunscreen now on days she has that class.

After 3 hours on homework, dd is ready for a break and my watch band broke. So we're going out to shop a little.

I'm in "hot" water. I had a book coupon, for 1 book in a purchase 20% off, so I ordered 2 books, 1 for DH for Father's Day, because he's a MLB fan & "Closure," looked really good. Sometimes the kids "forget" he's here, on Father's Day, but call or give him something later, when they see him again. I wanted to get him something he'd be interested in. So it's on the life story of this big name big time famous closure in baseball, from his childhood as a kid who fishes in his country, etc.. So I got a wild hair in my brain, how loving it'd be for me to get him this book, since the kids MIGHT forget him, except for a phone call. When I told him I ordered 2 books, 1 for me & 1 for him, the price, he said, "I don't need a book!" I said, "But you'll love this book, I wanted to do something nice for you." He said, "I don't want to read a book." I feel sad because in my heart of hearts, I KNOW he's going to LOVE ♥ this book! Anyway, now I need to sit on pins & needles for a week or 9 days or 10, for the pkg. to arrive so he can SEE for himself that it IS a "good" book for him. I knew not to get the one on Pete Rose, so this 1 sounded so awesome to me. To heck with it! If HE doesn't read the darned boo, *I WILL*! The other book's "The Invention of Wings," by Sue Monk Kidd.

I did a ton of Ta Dah's today, but there are so many, I don't know if I should list them. But here goes:
1- I talked to DH about the striped sink, he tried 3 things, the last being S. O. S. pad & it vanished, I'm a Very Happy Wife!
2- I put a new pen pal in my address book, put my pen pal mess off the dining room table & put it away in the office, but put current letters to answer, on my end table.
3- I put a white jacquard tablecloth on the table & 2 mats instead of all 6, & put the slanted glass vase with a handle & seashell at an angle, where there are no mats. It's so pretty with the white tablecloth. (The tablecloth is rather short.) But DD gave it to me, I hate to part with it, but it comes over the edges by 2" - 3".
4- I helped sort mail, purge junk, & helped put groceries away.
5- I crocheted 1 facecloth & started 1 other new 1. I'm trying to finish up my cone of yarn, I'm nearing the end!
6- I did 1 lol, have #2 starting to wash, may do pastel/colored clothes, then towels, but haven't decided yet.
7- I got 2 more boxes labeled for ARC's donation & filled them up, re-doing my walk-in closet clothes. What got to me is how whenever I got out everyday blouses to wear, they'd be all wrinkled. So by getting rid of quite a bit of stuff, it freed up room in the closet to = NO MORE WRINKLES & a nice decluttered closet! Got rid of baggy too big clothes, too.
8- I put TP under the cabinet sinks in the bathrooms, fed the kitty cat her "mail treats," which she gets when our mail comes. She has timed this for postal holidays & Sundays as well.
9- I refilled the napkin holder, too. & DH bought 2 new light bulbs: 1 for a kitchen pendant light & 1 for an outdoor light, leading from the garage to the back yard, next to the driveway, he got prescriptions, he got groceries, making good choices, from my list & got no "goodies," which I'm proud of him for. He got the mail on his way home. He re-set the water thermostat on the tank in the garage because I had a rather COOL shower this a.m.! But DH hasn't needed to re-set it for 2 months, so he doesn't think we need a new water tank now.

So, of course, while I was writing my Ta Dah list today, thinking of ALL the things DH does, I wanted to reward him with the book! But now it's questionable if he'll love it. I thought I was doing a "good thing" to show my appreciation to him. ♥ Guess not, but we'll "see" when the book arrives. Maybe he'll change his mind then- I HOPE!

Dh and I had a rest.

Then he headed out and got more boxes and his dinner and I packed two boxes and made my dinner and we watched an episode of Mad Men and I cleaned up.

Off to meet with the buyers now.

I started lol #3, loaded the DW & fixed weekly pills. Have a "problem" with un-scored pills not cutting exactly in half. DH says he'll get me a better pill cutter. With the ins. co. paying for my meds, I hate to be "picky" to ask for scored pills, since it may cost them more $. I pay $0 for meds b/c of Medicaid.

The news is nearly to come on. I was going to look up more info on the book. It ships tomorrow, I'm SO excited, told DH if HE doesn't read the book- I will. We agreed, both, to not mention the book again, until it gets here. I "know" he'll like it. I didn't want a history book or book on war, because he's got those types of books & DVD collections, from Ken Burns, etc... So this was the "perfect" book for him, such a MLB fan.

Back from meeting with the buyers. They are withdrawing their offer of $415K and will put in a new offer of $425K with the condition we replace the septic. One of the two septic people we liked came back with a quote of $20K plus taxes so that means we are splitting the bill 50/50 except we also pay the taxes.

This will do. Not perfect, especially since this is still conditional on them selling their house. I don't think their house will sell for anything close to what they think it will sell for, it seems overpriced to me. I'd rather not have the headache of the bills and the risk that something will be discovered and the expense will be greater than the estimate But if their house doesn't sell, we'd have to find a buyer and that will be easier with the septic replaced.

We'll run it past our lawyer tomorrow to make sure our thinking is sound.

Back to packing boxes. Still have 8 to do.

In theory, I had my day planned. In theory, I had lots of my days planned. Then the X called this morning. He always expects me to rearrange my life to suit him. This never worked when we were married, why would he think it would work now? The request for today was reasonable - DD12 was feeling bad enough to go to the doctor yesterday, so spending part of today with me is ok. I did have to do some rescheduling, and am doing job search stuff right now this evening instead of the afternoon. Fortunately, the X gave me a weeks notice on the rest of the schedule altering stuff. Because it will benefit DD, I agreed to it. However, bad planning on his part cannot be considered my problem. However, since both DD and I benefit from the extra time, I can't complain too loud. I am just sick to death of him thinking my life should revolve around his convenience. (When we were arranging visitation/custody BEFORE the divorce, he kept complaining that my preferences would interfere with his DATING!!! Not sure why he expected me to care, but I made sure to NOT give him any quarter there. I am SO well quit of him.)

I did a lot of theory in art class today. I am designing a doll dress there, which will have Spirograph designs embroidered on it. Last class, I figured out the formula for the number of 'points' on the design, given the number of stationary and moving gear teeth. I made a spreadsheet with various permutations of the Super Spirograph configurations, and picked out the ones that would give 8 points. In class today, I experimented with the 8 pointed designs to find the ones I liked.

After that, I retrieved DD and rented a movie for us. In honor of her last day of elementary school, we played School's Out by Alice Cooper really loud! Then, on to the park. Tuesday, we got a dollar store plastic bat and ball, but lost the ball. Neighbors' yards were searched, the arroyo behind the house was examined, and my house, no ball. So she improvised with a plastic soda bottle. Not very aerodynamic, but fun anyway. The X thought I should keep DD tonight, but I told him I had to defer the job search activities to this evening and he took her home. She will be arriving EARLY tomorrow morning.

I have been diligent on the job search this evening and have already sent resume and application to a company. I am taking a break now. I've also checked my email and figured out how to pay my insurance company. I am going to continue my break by starting another LOL, cleaning a catbox, and taking a shower. Fun, fun. Last night, I changed not just my sheets, but the blankets, comforter, and mattress pad. When I got home today, dFosterCat14 had thrown up on all of them. Why does she wait until I have put NEW bedding on? At least this time there was no blood, and the reason for it was obvious. I am not sure where she got the rubber band, and what possessed her to eat it, but that is why she had trouble. Elizabeth's Own Maid Service gets to wash more bedding. Bleah. After all that, I get to throw another resume to the winds.

Ended up with 12 boxes done because dh was working downstairs and I was working upstairs. So we continue to make good progress. I'm working my way through the china cabinets, starting with easy stuff and getting progressively more difficult and worrisome that it won't survive. Found one pressed glass pitcher with many chips out of it so have put that in the garbage.

Ivy -- dh and I have had to make those sort of agreements before. I agree w/Kathryn -- you did a good thing!

OKay, we do not have a will. With only one child, dh is sorta... lackadaisical?... (sp?)... about it. But we should have one, b/c it would make things much easier for ds when the time comes, and probably would save a bunch of money/taxes for him.

Elizabeth, mathematically calculating embroidery is cool. In effect, you are designing 8-point star patchwork, as well, you know, although I would hate to do the curved piecing! So, we will definitely be hearing about this project in A, C and N thread, right?

Changed my mind at store and bought a temporary watch for cheap. Timex look, but for $8 and will probably turn green soon - that's okay. I realized what I actually want is a new band after all, so I just got this until I can carry my mother's watch to have a new band put on. Just don't like any watch I see as well as I like my dmother's.

Bought insulated water bottles for me and for dd. The Aladdin ones that look like mason jars (which is cute for me, since I've used mason jars for water for decades). But these will not sweat with ice, and are unbreakable, and lid and smooth straw replacements are easy to find. They also probably won't work in car cubbies, but hey, for $4 I can live with it. This way I test out the concept of the large size straws again, except easier to clean. (Used to only be able to find those with the bendable accordion, bacteria-hugging straws) . I'd posted in H and F about reading again that we drink more water if we sip through straws, and therefore will lose weight, so ... ... gotta have it. Dd's is handled but mine is not so I can use rubber bands to keep track of how much I drink.

I still love my other good-looking expensive insulated glass for traveling, but I know the slide-open top doesn't encourage me to drink much.
