A very Happy birthday Harriet!

I am up thinking about working on a dish cloth pattern I am nearly done with. It is not in cotten this on is just to pratice getting the pattern learned. I have started this one seversl times! I need some for a wedding gift for the toddler s dads family.

Hens are clucking. Got upmearly to let hens out. I went to bed early last night.

Got a short walk in last night after a bit of dinner.

I wonder if Harriet is getting an extra special birthday present today?

I'm up. It is a simple day in the only thing on our schedule is the toxic waste drop-off. Not that I have nothing to do just that I don't have to do anything. That might be a bad thing since dd and dsil are arriving.

Slept well last night but am still tired.

I've s2s, tidied the bedroom a bit and am having tea and chocolate.

I just realized that I had to start the washing machine (done) so I will stay home and dh will do the toxic waste. We are snipping at each other so this is probably a good thing. He'll hit the hardware store for some things on the way home and then we might go out later in the day.

I've walked on treadmill and enjoy some quiet time in the garden with a cup of coffee.

LO had a ball game last night and another game this morning so his ball uniform has been washed & is drying now. This is his final regular game of the SPRING baseball season. They take a one week break then the Spring baseball tournament starts. Last year we were the underdogs who kept winning games through the loser bracket to play in the finals. I can't remember exactly how many games we played that week but I know it was waaaaay too many for little ones in the extreme heat. HOpefully this year it will be a couple of games and we are done (shhhhh.....don't tell on me for hoping that)

Yesterday LO received an invite to play FALL baseball. This is a invite only team that plays in a town about 30 miles away. I agreed to let LO try it but have some major reservations about it. They play on Tuesday nights.....which means a late bedtime on a school night.....for a boy that typically sleeps 12-14 hours a day. AND will already be sleep deprived from giving up naps since 1st graders don't nap. HUm.....It's a trade off. Would it be more advantageous for LO to stay with his friends that will be participating....these friends have good parenting and are good influences on LO. OR would it be better to not participate....keeping him home so he sleep more hours during the week. I'm leaning toward letting him try it and withdrawing him if it is too much.

DAunt came home from hospital in an ambulance last night. Her doctors have changed her timeline from 2 months to 2 days expected to live. DMom and I are backing off our support because DCousins have/are arriving this weekend. Dcousins now have a plan in place including a schedule who will be with DAunt which day/hours. DCousins are very capable and will step up and do what is needed. Hospice care is also in place.

Slept well last night but am still tired.

Me too, Kathryn. But I do need to get at it -I have only taken my meds -that's it! I did get up about 3 and realized dh was not in bed. Have no idea when he came out to the recliner or why -haven't seen him yet today. Know he has some pretty heavy stuff on his mind right now and I need to be praying for him (not that I haven't).

Just had a long conversation with dd. They're meeting her teacher friend, her dh and gd15 at 10. They will be signing custody/guardianship papers. This is sounding more and more like a win/win situation over the long haul. They're not afraid to take on GD. And the nice thing is perhaps her cycle of "friends" will be broken. She loves it living with this family and seems to be thriving. So for everything else to fall into place.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ONE VERY SPECIAL LADY! HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY, HARRIET! I'm sure your dd would be very happy to have that special 'present' today. But I thoroughly get what you were saying about sharing birthdays.

Small World category: Dniece sent me a message this morning about a dfriend of theirs. One who was in a horrendous accident at our campground a few weeks ago. When his rescuer was described, dniece said, that sounds like my uncle! So she texted this a.m. to find out. This story just doesn't go away. We're just happy that this young man survived at all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRIET!

Sure do hope today is the day for that special birthday present.

Painting of the interior of our house is done and I am busy putting it all back together. I am really pleased with how it turned out. Very happy with my accent walls - one in front room and one in master bedroom. Everything is so clean and fresh. I am taking my time putting it all together again as everything is being cleaned off before it goes back. Great feeling. The painters (4 of them) will be back sometime in June to do the outside. I am going whole hog, so to speak.

Found out yesterday that Mr. Guy will be having left knee replacement the end of June. We talked it over and decided he would go for the full replacement and he will call Monday morning to get the process started. I am glad because he has been in pain for a long time and it has gotten worse this past year.

Keep us all posted when it gets closer to Mr. Guy's knee surgery, Norma. We will surely be there beside you (and him).

I am just so psyched that gd15 may finally be getting the opportunity she really needs. Praying she uses all of it for her betterment.

Oh, thanks so much for lovely wishes, dear friends! I am trying not to stare at the telephone. I've reminded myself that even if dd/dsonil call, it may simply be to say happy birthday, so we certainly need to appear calm when answering! lol I plan to be the best 58 I can be!

I know that dstepson and dstepgd are on their way here, possibly with dstepdil if she is taking the day off. Hoping HRH is communicating with them about lunch????? I need to do more "packing", which is really just planning and stacking right now. Did some upholstery cleaning on our child booster/safety seat since I didn't feel I could chance actually washing the cover and waiting for it to dry.

I deadheaded the rose bush while doing outdoor chores so that if ds does drop by he will still see a clean-looking bush. It was so full of blooms during its first flush that after the rains, the spent heads made the plant look like it was dying. OKay, I read about dead-heading the Knockouts and even though the developer says he thinks they bloom just as well without deadheading, most people's experience seems to be the opposite. "Rose-Tone" food is recommended, so I need to pick some up.

Excitement here - dd was vindicated in her suspected sighting of a fox out on our road, and wondering if that was our predator. A fox circled the henhouse this morning. But as soon as the door opened on the other side of the house he took off. HRH got off two shots over his head anyway. We have to assume he is the one who remembers a meal from here now, which is bad news. I am disappointed it is a fox, because if it was a coyote I would have less hesitation in shooting. Not that I can abide any predator killing our hens, but foxes are centuries-old wildlife here, while coyotes have no history here at all and should never have been introduced, have altered the food chain to the point of lost ground-bird species here and pet snatchings.

Norma, your house looks spiffy! Hoping all goes smoothly for Mr. Guy's knee replacement.
