Hello, villagers ~
This first day of the book sale went well. We had a nice crowd.
DH was ready to go to the local diner as soon as I got home, so we had an early supper.

I need to count money and Email the numbers to the group before I do anything else. Not sure how much energy I'll have left to do chores tonight.

I'm so happy. I got a short story done & sent today. It was due June 9. I'm ecstatic I made the deadline in the pre-deadline month, too. Then, I'm also happy because I got 2 sections done on Round 1:

- Kitchen, dining & great room
- Master bathroom & bedroom

I do them in 15-minute increments and rest or write, etc... Now I'll rest and then do the main office & bunny room together. I'd love to do my first-ever round 1 today, which is 90 minutes long, broken up into 15 min. each room groupings.

It's sunny here. I need to go rest.

Harriet, it's funny, that phone call and hard of hearing being a sign of age. Nice to contact neighbors about the fox, too! ♥

-- changed my mind and went to Dllar Gneral instead (sorry, Sadie) DG is a tiny bit closer, and much less crowded. OTOH, I had to make a 2nd stop at grocery store, just down the line in the shopping center strip w/DG, to get Pedialyte and milk for dgs. DS had assured me that he could take care of these two items, but since I was there anyway, I had called and asked if they needed anything. DDIL is still feeling kinda puny w/the stomach problems. Doc-in-a-box is referring her to a gastro-specialist.
-- and caregiver called while I was there * thank goodness * to say she needed more Depends. smh. DH is so sick of this! As y'all know, we are very careful to ONLY go to Wmart ONCE a week. We make our list and stick to it. DH cannot understand why caregivers can't plan ahead better for needs at dmil's.

I think that light is coming, LucyLee. We are very hopeful this is going to be the very best thing for gd15. And you're right her 2nd mom is a no nonsense gal. GD did express that she was afraid that her own Mom & Dad might think she doesn't care about them if she wanted to stay with this family -of course dd had the same fears (very unfounded) in the opposite direction. Because she does care about gd, this sounds, seems like the very best possible scenario. And they've already said that if there's problems, they'll deal with them. They surmounted things with their own (his & hers) before. And all of them are on board with this -the Dad, the Mom and the girls. They already have felt for some time that she's like a sister anyway. 2nd Mom told her today that if she works hard she might be able to graduate with their youngest. She also is taking some online courses this summer. So it surely will not be all play by any means.

We had a disaster this afternoon, but averted a MAJOR disaster. Guy came to wash our RV -finally. A while after he left dh had me come out to show him where to plant a bush. I asked why I was hearing water run under the RV. He told me it was the water wheel -NO, it's under the camper! Oh gads! This guy had used the flush attachment for water & somehow when he turned it back it started filling the waste tank, spread out under the RV and into the bathroom & kitchen. Smells ok in here now, but not so nice outside. Unfortunately dh had to poke holes all over the bottom of the RV to get the water to drain out. Now to contact the RV specialist to see if it needs to be all taken apart and insulation taken out, etc, etc. Told dh to find out first if it's going to be an insurance problem. He will tell the guy what happened so it doesn't happen again, but meantime................once again my bathroom is clean. Some things were simply tossed. Like a brand new roll of paper towels. This was literally a case of 'it never rains, but it pours."

All my birthday wishes have made me very happy today. Thank you all.

Wow, Dee... what an experience with the water!

This really sounds like an answer to prayer, with dgd. Well, it IS an answer to prayer. LOTS of folks have been praying for this child and her family for some time now. I think it was a very good sign that dgd showed concern about dd & dsil's feelings, too. That seems like a MAJOR step right there. I can't wait to hear what the military "dad" says when she tells him that everyone else needs to change, not her. LOL. This may be very interesting. Do keep us posted!

Harriet - My x's family had a tradition of everyone having to share a birthday. DD1 with her cousin (my dbro's dd), DD2 with her uncle, halfsister with dgm, I'm not sure of the other brother.

Dee - I'm glad dgd will learn to live in a family with siblings. The real world is so different from an institution. Continuing prayers for her and her adopted family. It will really take all of their positive interactions to help her stop being combative. Seeing how other siblings have to toe the line will help her see its not all about her. Praying that she can find a way to raise to the occasion with her schooling, and get caught up to graduate and find her place in life. Hoping that she will come to enjoy and cooperate with visits with your DD too. Hopefully also - family feelings won't cease when she graduates.
(I always thought my dd1 would be impossible as an only child, even if she did often make life very difficult for her sister.)

Dee - that is just so disappointing about the water. I hope all is well in the end, though it sounds really involved to me.

Kathryn - A place to rest at the new apartment sound like a necessity to me. I continue to be impressed with your moving progress.

Oh, Dee, so sorry about all the water. My goodness, what was that guy thinking? I do hope all works out with dgd and that this beginning with new family continues in a happy vein. I would seriously be wondering why she would cooperate one place and not the last 3.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HARRIET! Much better to share a birthday than something sad. When DMom died, Mr. Sunny said oh no not today please (HIS birthday). And anyway, for out of town family, you end up celebrating when they can best come which often is not the same day. One DGS was born the week after Christmas so we celebrate before we come home. One DGS was born a couple weeks before Thanksgiving, so we celebrate if we're together for that holiday.

We had a nice summer rain today. DH went out and got fertilizer for the grass and ran around and got most of it done before the rain hit, but not all, and came in pretty wet. I'm loving the rains.

Had to go to Office supply store and get more toner for the copier. We changed the cartridge and figured out how to put the new drum in. I'd gotten the drum months ago when the message first appeared, but the message never seemed to change, so we put the new one in just in case. I hope this machine lasts...we use it pretty heavily and it's fax/scanner/copier.

Hoping Mr. Guy's knee operation goes smoothly. People say they can be a bit harder than hips.

Lynlee, you often see a different way of looking at things. I had not yet thought of the constant example of the other girls' response to their parents and household fairness to 3 girls at a time.

Before dstepson left, my gift of a new desk chair was put together and cake eaten. Ds called from the fire house. Dstepgd and I had several deep discussions about school, other children, hopes and dreams, etc. She is delighted that we have a video record of her great-grandmother on the other side of her family, who attended a bday party for dd15 here once. That great-grandmother has since passed and the family doesn't have much video of her. So HRH will be making a copy for dstepgd.

Still amused and pleased at the In Canadas discovering a door in the new home leading to a space they hadn't known existed. That is like the discovery of buried treasure. Few things as delightful as more and secret space.

Yes, going with BookSaver to a book sale would be great fun.

I need a good night's sleep!
