DD came, gave her Ddad a book/card, had lunch, a nap, then dessert, and I loaned her several books, then she headed home. She came, she ate, she slept, she left.

Dson called his Ddad, too. They talked awhile, had a good talk, it was wonderful & Dson/Ddil usually give DH his gift/card later. They're busy with a family of 9. :)

The weather stayed dry today, for DD's travels. I'm reading, getting ready to eat salads for dinner, DH is running the DW and I'll s2s later, after the DW's done washing.

Will rise early tomorrow, so DH & his dbuddy can get firewood, IF it's not raining. It's possible we'll have showers, but so far, it mostly looks like up North in the a.m. :D Not us.

I hung a straw hat with dried flowers on it and raffia on it, above the erasable magnet board above the laundry basket in the utility room. On Mother's Day, the clock hanging there, fell loud, broke the glass, so I had a bare nail and hook. It was driving me nuts, to look at it, didn't know what to put there, but it hit me  how when I WEAR that hat, the bees fly around me a lot, which I don't like! Being on the wall in the utility room is a good place for it. It's so cute up there and can be seen through the window from the street, too. ;)

Kitty cat had quite a nap, since I'd gotten up at 5:30 a.m., because she got up with me to cuddle in the chair during QT. She's so sweet.

I hope all the fathers, uncles, granddads, brothers, sons and men with kids had a Happy Father's Day! :D

Dee, you were invited over! Quite different! :)

I do think I am sometimes very jealous over family time  and perhaps more when it is to honor someone besides myself. I think this time it bothered me because it was dstepdil and dstepgd who had made plans and "let's surprise Grandpa" arrangements, and they may have felt HRH didn't notice enough. I need to get over it!

It's evidently set for me to go right back into the School Run starting tomorrow.  Dd has driver's ed promptly at 8:00 a.m. She's disappointed because friends to whom she'd suggested taking the class together couldn't work it out. Who knows - she may still find a friend.

I'm surprised how large the classes are, with minimum at 30 and unknown beyond that (they will cancel unless 30 sign up but won't limit further sign-ups or tell you in advance how many there are). Yikes - will there be 50?

At least we will be able to have a "school bell" an hour later than we have had. We actually planned this so that the 4 hours of instruction per day wouldn't affect any school classes/homework time. I really can't see how it can work for high-schoolers otherwise. Taking 4 hours away from consecutive weeknights would just be so tough on homework time.

Feeling worried about dsecondmil tonight :? as dstepfil slips further into dementia and Parkinson's disease. We enjoyed our time together yesterday on a "good" day for him, but today has been a struggle for him. She feels so alone. She says that today for the holiday all he got was one phone call, and that from the son who has been sick himself. The (4 ?) others do not visit or call him. She is hoping he will forget that it was Father's Day since he heard almost nothing from his children. :( She called HRH's sister at work and whispered to her to call, so there would be one more little diversion for him.

Hmmm, think I'm off to bed now. Dh made is hooking up the tv in the bedroom, a good sign that reasonable bedtimes will return (he likes to watch either the 10 or 11 news as he gets ready for bed.)

I made much progress on the living room although it is hard to tell. The bookcases are in place so now I'm unloading boxes of books. Doesn't matter where they go, I'm paying attention only to size at the moment. Sorting will come over the winter months.

I took a short walk getting back on track after my foot was sore the past two days was good. I saw a deer. We got some good photos. Decided that after with stuff it needs to cone inside we needed a bag for trash too. Counter space outside was not big enough so if dd & her family come as well we will need more room. Desserts might need to be on the table inside which was what I planned I was not successful getting folks to migrate to a diff location once they were settled in. Condement basket worked great.

We need to get lattice or something up to keep hens off the counter. Sigh but were able to distract em with cobs after we ate the corn off!
