This morning we are going to benefit breakfast for DNephew that spent 2 months in NICU unit. It warms the heart when a community shows their support during times of difficulty.

This SHE community is much the same. Always someone to care when your going through those difficult times we all face.

I'm up and have eaten but still am not s2s.

Working on the dining room and still arranging the kitchen. There is a pantry cupboard that sticks out from the wall. I put my cookbooks on top but need a stool to reach them so dh is mounting a bookshelf my dad made in an 'dead' corner where I can reach. It will add some life to that corner as well. He also intends to rebuild my counter extension in its new spot so the corner of the kitchen will be finished and I'll have full access to the shelves under the kitchen cart.

I'm working on the dining room now, and taking photos of things I don't want to send to the kids to make sure they don't want them. I'm surprised at how hard hearted I am. Before, when I was packing, I often got rid of things I thought I'd keep simply because it wasn't worth the effort to find packing supplies. Now it is because it isn't worth the effort to find a spot for them. Too many things I love are in limbo because I have no idea how they will be displayed.

Legs aren't as sore as yesterday but they aren't good either. I will try and make time for extra rounds of physio through the day. At least now there is a place to put down an exercise mat (since the floors are all hard, I can't just lie down on the carpet to do a round.) I just need to make sure I put the mat near something to lean on as I try to stand again!

(((Kathryn))) -hope the knees, etc get better today. I, too, am different every day. Yesterday I was barely walking. today, so far, legs & knees feel pretty good. Had a Charlie horse in top of my left leg yesterday and could just barely put one foot in front of the other.

Went out to dinner with group from GP (our campground) last night. Our 15 dwindled to 8. I was really looking forward to some strawberry cream pie, but they didn't have it. Can't even tell you what it's like -I only remember I had it last year and fell in love.

Need to get cracking on a few things. Not perfect here, but I don't plan for it to be. DD got in late yesterday afternoon. Know she's exhausted. Still don't know about the job -if dsonil does or does not have it. Afraid that the written test he had to take may be his downfall. Know that's exasperating to him and to dd. He is probably one of the world's worst test takers. Knows his stuff but just can't do a test.

Haven't stepped away from my computer since my last post but I've cobbled together a service for tomorrow afternoon. They don't pay much so I don't feel guilty about using resources online and on-hand.

Next challenge (aside from standing up) is to get dressed for the day.

Well, it is sunny and clear today! Birds are singing. I slept until 9:45. I was tired. I did go to bed around midnight - but still, that is almost 10 hours of sleep. Maybe I'm starting to catch up.

I'm drinking tea and have taken care of my last band uniform email. I've been asked to help in nursery room T1 tomorrow, and I've said "yes." The girls are up; 2 of them slept over.

Today: So. . . I will be home until 1:45 - I do have 1 errand to run - and then I'll be out today from 1:45 - probably 9 or 10 pm. I would love a day spent mostly at home, but that's not going to happen until possibly the week after next.

- buy a grad card
- 1:45 - 3:30 - help with soup kitchen, including travel time there
- 3:30 - 5:30 - grad party, including travel time
- 5:30 - ? - meet friends at 6 pm for dinner at new fun campus restaurant.

Rambling Rant: Soup kitchen is a bit of a sensitive issue here. Dh had asked the assoc. pastor who "heads up" this ministry that he not be asked to organize it anymore. He said he was willing to help, but not organize, which he had helped do in the past. This pastor is disorganized, does things last minute, is present for less than half the soup kitchens (he has a large and busy family), and tends to dump the responsibility for getting volunteers last minute on dh. With dh's stressful year (colleague on sabbatical, etc.), this has just been one headache he hasn't needed to deal with. I asked dh to quit long ago. . Well, despite dh's request, the pastor once more dumped the whole job on dh for this week, quite last minute, with only 2 volunteers lined up for cooking and clean up (probably 4 is minimum for each task), before he left town. Dh has wrangled up a few more volunteers, but not quite enough, so I'm going to help with the cooking and set up portion. We will need to leave early for the grad party. I believe dh is going to now tell this pastor that he will be completely out of this ministry for a while - and ask him not to ask him to help at all. This pastor is a lovely man in many ways, has important gifts that our church needs, but he is hard to work with in this way. Ergh.

A cookie was breakfast. Bs was great today. Working on better a.m. readings. Farmers mkt. Today spinning mtg. Errands today.

Have pink fiber spun into single ply yarn.

Got enough sleep. After outdoor chores shocked me with the temp and humidity already this morning, I decided to switch the day up and grocery shop right away before it got worse!

Dd went with me and I guess that went fine, although I am struggling to come up with menus that satisfy all requirements.

Attempting to stop to get gasoline was a fiasco at a Shell station where the nozzles were not correct, and wouldn't work with mine (or anyone's) tank. Something about missing wires that are required to get the nozzle to go into the tanks. Sigh. Had to get my money back then (it had already frustrated me be being a pay-before-pumping station). Time was passing and frozen foods needed to get home, so I came home with very little gasoline in the tank. Hmmm... ...

Back by the church and could see more limbs (of mature trees whose maker liked them just fine, as far as I know) have been taken out to make sure there's a good view of everything in the church yard.

Guess who got up with bad knees today? Yup! Me. Was on my feet too much yesterday, I guess.

DH is vacuuming now, I'm washing 3 pairs of jeans, will get caught up on LOL so I can wash master bathroom rugs. Need to dust the great room-dining-kitchen eating bar shelves areas & our bedroom, then dust those rooms. The rest of the house was done via me on Thursday.

We're getting ready for dgson-17 to come tomorrow. He gets off work at 4 p.m. tonight, comes home to pack a. s. a. p. & he's SO excited. DH said he'll fill up his gas tank while he's here, too. Gas prices this weekend here went up to $3.98 a gallon in our city. Poor people who commute to work & schools!

It's beautiful & sunny, will be 79* here today, DH mailed out my 4 letters, & am hoping good mail comes in, other than just bills or magazines. DH emptied the DW, so that was nice & we made the bed prettier together this a.m. He's s2s already, but I haven't, as am not feeling 100% yet. Digestion's a bit out of whack this a.m. so am taking it easier, in between puttering. I got all the trash dumped from each room this a.m. while my coffee cooled.

After DNephew fundraiser, LO and I came home and teamed up to trim the fence line around the yard. LO was using manual push mower while I used the weed-eater. We made good process until we needed to stop to make a parts run for DH. MPB is broke.....again.....the same problem we had a week ago. ***VBSigh*** DH is still in pain from kidney stone but continues to work. Anything I can do to help him is #1 priority with me. I drove the boring 2 hour drive to pick up repair parts.

I am shocked. Aggravated. frustrated. Saddened. I don't know what I'm feeling....
Life Long DFriends who are raising 3 of their grandchildren (2 years old deaf boy, 4 years old girl and 8 year old girl) named us as alternate care givers for the children.
They didn't discuss this with us.
We found out when we received in the mail a thick packet of papers from DHS to do background check, home study, etc. on DH and myself.
REally? Taking on 3 extra young children is not a casual decision. But it isn't just taking care of the children, but it also dealing with the parents of the children who are into drugs but still want to be a part of the children life. The court have removed parental rights but that doesn't stop the drama. If we agree to take on this every part of our life is again under the scrutiny of DHS and the court system. We don't have anything to hide, but who wants to invite problems? WE JUST GOT OUT OF THE COURT SYSTEM with LO.
I don't think DFriends have anyone else that would do it, but taking on that challenge is more than I think I can do. However, I hate to think of the children being split up and placed with strangers. ARGH!!!
And another reason.....not many would be shocked if DGD3 ended up in our care sometime in the future. If we agreed to take on DFriends grandchildren that would mean the possibility of us raising 5 children under the age of 8. Plus I've seen hints that DD is pregnant again...........
