So sleepy, want to have a nap.

Almost done entering the chits. It will be nice to have that task finished so I can move on to reconciling credit cards. I'm so far behind on all my bookkeeping. Basically, it hasn't been done for 6 weeks and was spotty before that because the focus was on the business books.

We should leave in a half hour for the party. I think I'll close my eyes for 15 after getting the last of the chits into Quicken.

Dh just came in to go for his shower. His day "off" was not. Why am I NOT surprised?

Bought broccoli salad for potluck at the grocery store in the village where dh had to go see the dentist (again -but he says he's getting 'close'). Won't do that again. Expensive for the amount I got -at least I think so. Know one item I get at W mart for breakfast at $2/package was $3.39 there so shouldn't have been surprised. Price for convenience.

Dh is taking dd16 to drumline. I need to finish clearing the table. I got some errands done this afternoon and 3 lols washed; still need to update the machines to make sure they all get dry. And then folded.

tonight, I also need to prep for tutoring tomorrow.

Hi! I rested a bit, DH is snoring on the sofa, & I wrote the grocery list for the store he'll get my prescriptions picked up tomorrow, after his physical.

I usually tear off my cat desk calendar pages, because they're cute & uplifting, leaving the dates on them, to send to pen pals. I tuck in 1 photo per letter. Today, I heard from a gal in CA & she mailed me about 6 cat calendar pages, where she's cut dates off, & sent them to me. So I got the identical cat photos back, from HER calendar, because I always leave the dates on mine. I got a kick-in-the-pants laugh over that one.

It's sunny, hot, & the heat pump's going, to cool the house down.

Dee, sorry your DH doesn't get a REAL "day off"!

Kitty Cat woke up DH, so she could be fed at 4 p.m. So he's feeding her now. I'd better get busy with my calendar work & snail mail. Want to get a mailer with 2 books in it, ready for DD tomorrow. DH will mail it on his way back from the pharmacy-grocery store & get more stamps, too.

Hi everyone! I am not dead and I did not get lost in the transition (thanks to the hard work of the admins in charge). I have just been a delinquent correspondent. I am still unemployed and looking. I may have fixed my roof, but I can't tell until the next really good rain. I got up late today, but have paid bills and updated Quicken, eaten a good lunch, made a DPC, synched my calendar, and gone through backed up emails. I have a long list of stuff I still need to do, but won't bore you with it. DFosterKitten has recovered from her eye surgery and respiratory infection and has been introduced to the adult cats in my house (3 fosters, 1 resident). I need to put the doors back on the sewing room (removed to get a ladder in to fix the ceiling). That way, I can bring in more kittens to form a new litter for the foster. The new babies will have to be isolated in the sewing room until they have been tested for fatal infectious diseases and to make sure they don't have ringworm or respiratory infections. (If they have the non-fatal problems, they will be treated. If they have the fatal problems, we try to find a sanctuary for them, unless they have become so ill that euthanasia is the only humane option.)

Right now, I need to find and email some pictures of the foster kitten for our organization's newsletter. I will be including a 'before treatment' picture, but I am not sure if it will be used. It is not for the faint of heart or squeamish of stomach!

Have not been productive today, however I maintain that I probably need down time, LOL. Have been reading some online about the "Supremes" decision today and also about the three Israeli teens whose bodies were found today. We had another round of rain also.

DH is bowling so I'm not cooking dinner tonight - I need to do a handful of things to feel a little more productive for the day. Will work to TOTH and see how far I can get, and back with some ta-das, at least.

Tomorrow I am taking a lasagne to my nephew and wife - this is dsis' son. They just had third baby last week - very high risk pregnancy. Need to take lasagne out of freezer to start thawing also!

OH! So glad to see that Elizabeth has made it over to the new village!

Ivy, I would put a lot of stock into that " " in helia's definition. I'd say Tarjay is an accepted French translation for the name of the store, pretty Americanized and tongue-in-cheek.

Shoes comfort - loving the comfort of the form-fitting Memory Foam line of shoes by Skechers. The soles "remember" your feet and conform again and again to your shape/needs. About the same expense as Kathryn's Dr. S inserts, and of course hers will transfer from shoe to shoe, while these are one pair of shoes only, total cost. So both have potential to be a good deal. These would not be corrective, of course, but are a real boon to me.

Genealogy email chatter happening fast and furious in my maternal family as an ancestral Manor House from 1600 has just been put on the sales market in England. Our more knowledgeable family folks in that direction are sending out all kinds of information that is new to me. My own ancestor who did not inherit, being younger, chose adventurous travel ... ... to Jamestown. Yipes. (After the 1609 "starving time" and 1610 abandonment/return.) One historian was quoted as saying, "very lucky he even lived".

Many ways to take this news - a familial history of bad judgement? (smile) I find it comforting that he evidently still loved his older brother who did inherit and lived in luxury. Even though he himself lived in desperation, possibly indentured to pay for the trip, he named a son after his brother. Inheritence sure used to be ruthless, but accepted as normal. So many photos now showing up of Manor House in its glory - what if there could remain even one sketch of the Jamestown shack? That would be priceless.

Progress: Answered several emails and transferred dates of committee and other meetings to my calendar. Was going to start the brownies for tomorrow's dessert, and found no confectioners sugar for the icing - will need to attend to that tomorrow a.m. Folded lol from the dryer and rebooted washer load over. Started a load of delicates to hand up before bedtime. I got my email box down to 125 emails.

I need to walk ddogs and work on a li%t for tomorrow.

Very neat history Harriet, your family tree "crosses the ocean." I do with a couple of lines but they aren't that well documented IMHO so I don't know that I put much stock in it.

Ordered more Cosequin for ddogs also.

I wrote a card to DD, put in a religious tract poem I got in the mail from a pal, & another thing, along with the OA book on Abstinence. It's already set to be mailed out tomorrow. Gas was $3.99 here a gallon on the 21st, so it only takes 1 day to get to DD, which is a LOT better than driving the freeway NE to get to her place. Also, it's hard to find a time to go to her place with her working & attending meetings a lot, along with a social life & Dgson-17.5, too. Mailing is quicker & better.

Helia & Harriet, Before Macy's came here in the old Bon Marche' store, some people would call Bon Marchi' the Bon Marchie Store, making less French & more comical American. Harriet, your post was cute.
