Kathryn...My son had a SID's episode when he was about 3 months old. When he came home from the hospital he tended to make little funny noises when sleeping. I'd never been around new borns so thought this was sort of normal. Over time I got used to his sounds...then one night I awoke and didn't hear anything. I laid in bed thinking that...should I get up or not kind of a thing until finally I became uneasy and went into check on him.
I turned on his light and he was blue. I had no medical training ...well at least with a baby...so without thinking I swooped him up and shook him. That made him gasp for air and he began to breath again. I sat him in his little car chair thing for rest of the night. I woke my dexh to tell him what had happened, but he didn't seemed too concerned. I was using a new to the profession dr at that time and he wasn't too concerned either.
However I was scared to death everytime I put my son down, to the point that I was making my dexh check on my son because I was too afraid he might have died during a nap or at night.
Flash forwards another month...I changed dr's for many reasons but specifically because of that event. When we went in for my son's first check up with the new dr, I told him of what had happened to my son. The dr. immediately that afternoon put my son in the hospital and ordered a round of tests. Later that evening when the tech was questioning us about my son he said to me...tell me what happened when your son stopped breathing....All of a sudden my dexh got this wild look in his eyes and excitely asked...what do you mean he, our son, stopped breathing??? Seems in my panic to wake my dexh during the the night that it happened I must have said....P--- not breathing wake up...and my dexh never heard the ...he's not breathing part.
No wonder my dexh was so unsympathetic to my fears.
Anyway it turned out that my son had and still does to this day...sleep apnea. However it wasn't sever enough to warrent a monitor machine.
B'Sweet...Its really nice to see you back with us again. I really feel for you today. I fully understand the reasoning behind the decision, but it never makes it easy. I have always been with my animals when I had to do the same thing...And my eyes will be the last thing either Sadie or Willis will see if it needs to be done to either of them....Hugs to you big time. You are brave, strong and loving.
I am back working on my project....Sweetie is working on his car so we are both being creative today. I'm glad I have the time to do it and am not being pressured by other stuff. The genealogist that I have been talking to is going to meet my mom and me when we visit the church/cemetery where our family is buried. He said he knows where the headstones are and take us there. Then he has made arrangements for someone to meet us at the other church we want to see...my 5th generation grandfather was married there. He even sent me a map where RCG ( Robert Crispin Green) lived. Its now a housing development. How amazing is that. This guy is such a kind person to be putting all of this together for us....I am extremely happy for my mom. She never though she would ever get to see any of this even though she heard all about the churches and cemetery all of her life. And if we get really luck, my new-to-me cousin will meet us at the church and join us on our journey.
Need to focus and get back to work....I could use you Twins right about now. I have decided to decorate these albums...and the only creative experiences I have is helping my students/kids make Valentine and Mother's Day cards....We'll see how it goes...
Cya'll later..........
