I'm in 3 minute mode. My brain isn't ready to handle a bigger focus than 3 minutes.

LO is sick. His only symptom is fever which spiked during the night. I was up 3 times giving meds during the night and woke up countless times to check on him.

The FNG is suppose to be at our home tonight. I don't feel comfortable having everyone here with LO being sick. There are 2 in the group that are taking chemo so the last thing they need is to be exposed to whatever LO has.

Good morning, LadyM. Hope LO feels better and would be in the same mode of thought if it were me having friends over, especially chemo ones.

Spent a good share of the day yesterday waiting at the surgical center with dh. His endoscopy went fairly well. There were a couple of spots on his esophagus (where the Barrett's is present) that looked a bit off to Dr so he did take a couple of biopsies. Never did ask him how soon dh needed another. Dh was so very 'loopy' when they tried to get him awake. Most things that happened he has no recollection. Like the Dr coming in to talk to us or getting his teeth in, etc, etc. They talked about him walking out of there, but believe me there was no way. They did take him down to the car and he barely made it into the car then. He was still staggering some hours later.

We went to bed about 8:15. I awoke at 11 and was awake until 2:30. Had just drifted off and dh's phone came on with a "you have a call from #......" Slept on the couch till about 5:30 and crawled back into bed. Didn't get up until 7:30.

Hoping dh is not digging today. He did some yesterday and commented later that he was not doing any more of that without help.

The camper we've been concerned about for the past month -because he had left and told no one of his plans. He drove in at 10:55 yesterday morning. Dh told him we'd all been worrying about him.

Rained again early this morning. About 6/100ths. The main driveway is fixed and is probably the best it's been. The beach is closed signs are up. DD called dmanager last night to tell her that there were kids in the water at the 'kids' beach'. She went down and there were at least 5 in the water or riding their bikes through deep water. Took them to their parents and told them firmly if she had to speak to them again there would be stiff consequences. Can hardly believe there's campers coming in. There is barely any room for them to park this weekend. DD is the only camper on her leg of the park. Everything is under water.

May try to call my db/dsil to see if they're going to be around today (at my dniece's). They came up from FL a couple of days ago. Do want to see them before they go back.

I'm chilly but am refusing to turn on the heat. Temperature swings are so nuts this summer. Can have heat on in the morning and AC by early afternoon.

Speaking of Focus, I just created a new forum for Cleaning Focus, to replace the older one. The new forum will have monthly threads instead of the weekly ones we have been doing for a few years. We want to encourage everyone to post your deep cleaning strategies in it, whichever system you use, so we can help each other make progress.

I did get my hair chopped off yesterday so I can donate it. It doesn't look like any of the pictures I took in, and it's not as short as I really wanted it. I think because I was with a stylist who hadn't met me before, she was afraid that I'd get mad if she cut it too short, so she went conservative. At first I encouraged her to keep cutting shorter, but then I just gave up and let her finish because I was out of time. It is cute, and it's a style that I had considered before. I planned to start really short for August, and take a couple months to grow it out to this style. Oh well, at least it's up off my neck so it's much cooler for hot August.

Today's 6x7:

* Set up Soda Stream

I saw the Soda Stream on sale and remembered that a few of you recommended it. I'm hoping DH will like it because the mountain of plastic 2L bottles in his mancave is out of control. (He does not take the time to return them, and I have not had time this summer.) If we both like the Soda Stream flavors, I'll buy another bottle for the machine so we can each have one. For myself, I have cut way back on drinking pop so it makes sense to "brew" it on demand and not have to bother with bottle deposits. I also want to try some fizzy fruit juices.

I am with you LM trying to find my focus. So far just trying to put one foot in front of the other today a. m. ex. and routines up next. Hen chores done, s2s x, drink coffee x water intake needs to be a focus have had some dry skin issues this week. Some watering done.

I can't focus on anything these days. Just about everything I do is a struggle.

I hope LO isn't coming down with something bad. He seems to get sick a lot. Was he a preemie?

I will check out the new thread if I ever get back to any deep cleaning around here!

Dee, sounds like they let your DH go too soon.

Speaking of struggle / focus, I've been trying to close out the month business books. I just put in the payroll taxes and used the wrong numbers (June's instead of July's) and I couldn't cancel and they couldn't help me on the phone. Yikes. I just had to do a bunch of notes here to remember to take the extra I paid off next month's taxes. I don't trust my brain to remember what I did this month.

I was doing ok until DH had his helper here trimming the 3 palm trees out front. They are getting quite tall. He had me hold the tall extension ladder and I was only out there for 30 minutes and it is hot and sticky. I can no longer tolerate the heat & humidity. And I realized this morning I've forgotten an important birthday so have to run out and get gift into the mail. There is another birthday in 2 more days and I have to take care of that also.

I don't do anything in a hurry these days so this is stressful.

Well, once I get this done the day will go better. Off I go.

Hi everyone. I posted at the other site the last 2 days b/c they have a thread that is basically just lists, and I find that very helpful. Although, in the end, I was not particularly focused yesterday afternoon when I got home from my all morning meeting. . .

Today, my focus is getting ready to leave for camping trip by 4 pm. So, that includes packing as well as housecleaning for the animal sitter who will be staying here while we're gone. I got the groc. shopping done yesterday, and the non-perishables from that trip are already packed.

I have already:
x gone for a jog
x s2s, teeth, hair - I skipped make up today, I guess b/c I'm going camping
x WW - I'm actually down 0.6 lbs. after not showing up for about 10 weeks. Hmmm.....

Next will be the a.m. routine and getting the van to the car wash. Dgirls are bringing a friend each and I want the van cleaned out and vacuumed before I have everyone sit in it. Several of the seats have dog hair. . . Yuck! --there are dog towels in the car, but often someone doesn't think about them when the dogs get in.

Rambling rant that is skippable. . .and has turned out much longer than I intended Angst here once again over the stupid forsythia bushes on the corner of our yard. As she does every spring/summer, our neighbor called and said they're blocking the view of the street and basically said we should just cut them down completely. She also said something about her daughter being angry - which I didn't know if that was a threat or a plea or what. Our conversation was extremely pleasant, actually, and she apologized for bothering us. She had also called earlier this summer - but not about the forsythia but about some mysterious vegetation behind it that was blocking the view. I cut down what I thought that was. . . Anyhow, I would be very happy to just get rid of the bushes once and for all since they cause so much grief every summer - and even mentioned that to dh. I thought dh agreed and said he would ask our garden guy, who is here today, to do that. So, when neighbor called again this week, (first call was when we were out of town), I told her that we were going to cut the whole thing down. Well, this morning in a conversation with dh, it became clear that dh never intended to cut it down. He says that he likes those bushes and is NOT going to pander to a neighbor whom he sees as somewhat of a bossy busybody. Once again, we drove our sedan down the road to check out the vision issue, and once again - it is possible to see fine around our bush once you get to the intersection, though I think it's a bit awkward. Dh disagrees with me on this. Also, vision is more blocked by another neighbor's bushes to the right than by ours to the left. Our bushes are set back much farther from the curb, about 6 or so feet, I'd say, than our neighbor's bushes, which are maybe 1 foot from the curb. I actually asked our busybody neighbor on the phone about the view blocked by our bushes vs. our neighbors bushes, and she insisted that the view is blocked more by our bushes. I could measure out the sight distance and prove how that is actually not true.. . . That corner of our yard is quite overgrown, I'll readly admit, so maybe she dislikes that fact but feels she can't talk to us about that. That corner is right where the forested part of our property transitions to the groomed part, so those lines are not clear. Dh thinks she just doesn't like our bushes. Her yard is nothing other than grass. There may be one tree in the front yard. Maybe small shrubs by the house, but largely empty and no flowers. ANYHOW, I am a bit upset about the whole thing, about the misunderstanding with dh, about the possibility that this neighbor is inappropriately bossing/manipulating me, upset about the fact that the garden guy is not completely cutting down these bushes, which I have now come to despise. . . He is trimming them, quite significantly, I'm hoping. Dh seemed OK with that. If neighbor calls and asks why we didn't cut them down completely, dh will talk to her. He has said he doesn't want me talking with her about this anymore. He doesn't like how she talks to me and how I respond to her - and how she brought her daughter into the conversation this time; he feels she is almost bullying me. It's all done very pleasantly, though. She is an older woman, a widow maybe, so I want to be as kind as possible and honor her requests to some extent, even if we don't fully understand them, but I guess it is true that we also don't want to be taking orders from her about our property. And I dislike being between her requests/orders and dh's. --But, this too shall pass.

My Friday Focus is to get the sheets washed/dried before our mid-morning T-storm strikes!

Also, to continue to get my Zones on index cards, with detailed cleaning, in my SHE-FLY folder/control journal dealy-bobber.

I'll do Zone cleaning, crochet on Dgs-5.5's afghan, read, write on a story, and get Dgs-almost-11's guest/main bathroom ready for him. The house is dusted, vacuumed, dust mopped, and the only things left to do are the toilets/trash.

Helia - ARGH! I understand the angst about neighbor. I'm glad your DH is going to talk with her in the future.

Was he a preemie?

Yup. LO was born at 27 weeks and spent the first couple weeks of his life in NICU connected to tubes, breathing machines, etc.

DH appointment this morning with urologist resulted in nothing new. Kidney stone still there.....

In the last hour I have switched from straight coffee to Iced coffee in an effort remove the foggy feeling & UP my brain function. I think it is helping somewhat. Mostly I'm just tired and need some quiet time. I would dearly love to take a nap but that isn't possible now so.....more Ice coffee for anyone who wants to join me in a cup!
