Twins, kinda scary having someone move in there. Good advice from Harriet.

Last night's meeting was so nice. The sun was still out so the drive wasn't dark. And she had made dinner for everyone which was doubly nice. I don't think they told anyone she was planning on doing that.

And our conversations were just what I needed to hear. I had gone there planning to talk to our leader about resigning. But between the conversations and the fact that I've been feeling better the past couple days, I've decided to take it a month at a time and hang in there.

I spent entire morning at my desk. Our last big project is completed and we've been paid and I am spending gobs of time getting the accounting from the past 6 months straightened out. Today DH started another big project and I've spent some time organizing that job's paperwork.

Sprinkling out now. I still haven't found my umbrella.

1 LOL done. Towels hanging outside to dry. I'm going to take a break for a bit. I must not get myself so busy all the time that I "burn out" as I did before.

Thanks, MT! That is one suggestion I had not thought of for some reason -- Clorox & Q-tip... Getting the culprit to do the cleaning to my satisfaction is another problem indeed.

I have sorted through all the flatwear... not much in the way of matching/complete sets, although there is one very nice set of stainless. Maybe one pretty much complete set of silver. I wouldn't want it, anyway... too much trouble to polish and take care of. I need to type that list.

DGS & I walked 2 miles, watered the hydrangeas, now we're just killing time, I guess.

Grave disappointment to find myself invited out Friday night. Sigh. Double Sigh. Our high school class can't manage (or care about?) reunions, so again just the women in the class who can find each other are meeting. It's so poorly thought out that I got a call about it this a.m., 2 days in advance. I'm not offended because I think this is just how spur-of-the-moment it is. So few are willing to attend (a dozen?) that a big dose of guilt landed in my lap. "It just won't be the same without you."

The caller was the high school acquaintance about whom I've asked advice here - having forgotten about me for four decades, she recently has found me so fascinating, astonished to learn I have lived at the same place, am in no way a mystery, have been here all the time. Who knew? LOL. (her dh and my ds worked together for 7 years, knowing exactly who each other were, so... ... um... ... .)

Don't you guys want to go with me? Wish I had someone I KNEW along with me. Dd says she'll go. LOL - she does not do an age-appropriate impression. We are to bring our own wine. Or not (me). To have with ordered-in pizza. (I'll need carbonation.)

One significant reason to go is to be in the group when the gossip starts.

I am back home after trip to dsis' house and errands.

The lady who lives next door to dsis (and incidentally keeps an eye on everything that goes on on that street) believes that yard guy is mistaken. She said that her son sometimes parks in dsis' driveway when visiting, and that a guy across the cul-de-sac with a white truck (as noted by yard guy) sometimes parks there. She said another neighbor sometimes cuts through the lot when walking down to the main road. She is sure that no one has been in there. I had called the county sheriff's office and they were having an officer meet me there, but after talking with her I called them back and cancelled the call. I probably should have called her to begin with but I'm so bad about her name and finding her phone number. (She was looking out her door after I parked there to wait for officer, and her three yappy dogs have been going crazy anytime I've ever been there so it's doubtful something would get past her - also she is disabled somehow so doesn't go out much herself.)

The temple secretary called to let me know that the rabbi would not need to meet with me because he had discussed the issue with the Prez. I thought the issue was something that the Prez should handle, but had agreed to meet since he had asked me twice. And the Prez was there signing cks, so I only have one that I need to sign (for a different org) and I can do that tomorrow.

I drove by new grocery and decided to go to the old one, farther away. Also dropped off dmom's pants to be hemmed, dropped off and picked up at cleaners, and went to Target for several items, including a yoga mat for dMacs to stand on when he eats or drinks water. Part of the floor in the that area has a rug and part is hardwood, so his feet have been slipping.

Up river 25. Mi. Has evacuation warnings up bc of one fire in the area but it is east so we are not getting smoke from it. There is another fire in the area too I think also to the East.

My thoughts turn to school starting I got mead comp. Note books and a couple of shirts.

Gee, I hope ya'll realize I meant that gossip usually turns to (on?) those who are NOT present. Not that I was interested in hearing it!

It's been a strange day and oddly unproductive.

Nancy, I bought a three-ring binder and posterboard today. Just noticing little sales while I'm out.

Twins' Mom, did you glance inside the house to satisfy yourself - it's probably unnecessary, but I remember a (temporarily abandoned) church in big city burned down because homeless people were cooking food in it using some kind of sketchy heat source. One thing about it - now that the neighbor lady has learned that someone had a suspicion she will be even more attentive. Dsecondmil's next-door-neighbor dog barks and follows the movements of everyone in dsecondmil's yard or along the road, from behind its fencing. She says, "Oh, I love that dog!" even though it will not allow her to approach it! Barking dogs do make a difference,

Harmony, well at least it sounds like that was positive Desk Day work, coming because of being paid for a long-term job.

Just remembered I neglected to get gasoline - that must happen with the next trip out.

Mail came and another dreaded statement. I worked on it and worked on it until I could feel myself getting "frazzled". At least it is done for another month and after next month shouldn't take this long.

I guess I should go check the towels hanging up outside.

I understood exactly what you meant, Harriet... and I'd likely feel the same way -- in all respects! Maybe it will be more fun than you expect -- things like this usually are. (Y'all remind me of that little statement when MY next "event" comes around.)

Actually, my 35th class reunion is this fall. Class plans to attend high school football game (Homecoming, appropriately) on Friday night, and then have dinner the following night. Unfortunately, I will be babysitting on Saturday night and will not attend. But that will be fine. I can live without it, and we do plan to be at the ballgame. (If dh can't have an aisle seat, though, he won't sit with them, LOL!)

MT -- thanks!!! I think the Clorox is going to work!!! I put a little on some toilet paper, and let it sit/soak while I s2s. Then I used the Q-tip and a toothbrush to scrub, and I can already see improvement. I may let it soak overnight like that tonight, and then see what happens. Thank you so much for the tip!

Sounds like good neighbor to have, Twins! People parking in the drive will help the house appear lived-in, and that is important. With dmil's house empty, we are so aware of the risks of having a house just SITTING for a long period of time.

Back home from dinner and dropping off dd.

Got back to the apartment the first time, she was on her way, so we left when she got here and ended up with enough time to set up the inflatable bed in the master. So now all bedrooms have beds.

I vacuumed and cleaned a bit more today while at the house.

Believe it or not, the electrician and the septic guy didn't do the work today so my drive out was not the last time I'll have to go. Sigh...

We had a great dinner, visited with a lot of people from the village and explained what was going on with the septic.

Had a great visit at the general store. The house next to the general store is for sale so we asked them and the homeowner on the other side why it was so cheap (ds is considering it) and the answer seems to be that it is really old and next to the store. Neither is a biggie for ds. It is also very small, again not a problem. So he is going to ask to look at it more closely when TGF is here, if it is still for sale at that point. It is priced almost $100K less than anything else in the village, including places on Main Street. There are river views from the back, it has a new kitchen and the septic is good. The cellar floods every year (and has for the past 110 years.) That might be an issue for ds and his asthma but that's the only thing we heard that was really wrong with it.

After talking with various villagers, ds left for work and we swung by the house to see if we could see who was looking at it. There was someone there but I don't know any more than that.

Got the feedback from the agent that had the viewing this morning but it was the automatic one, which just refers to a detailed email sent to my agent. Haven't heard from her yet but now am curious.
