Simple Sunday

Makin' it a simple day today - what can I do to make next week easier? What can be done to get ahead for the holiday weekend coming next weekend? Or get the jump on the back-to-school rush?

My formula for living is quite simple. I get up in the morning and I go to bed at night. In between, I occupy myself as best I can.

I love the idea of a simple Sunday. I need to wash and sort plums and put them in baskets I got at yd. Sale yesterday. I might even put a dish cloth in them too.

Hens are fine chicks are too. One has taken over the nest with eggs in it. I am going to move them and clean that one today and the coop I hope I came up with a plan. I can put chicks in a pet carrier while I do this. Sounds simple time will tell.

Dh left before I got up to go play golf today. I'm glad that it's overcast this morning instead of the blazing hot and humid we've seen. I walked the ddogs in a little rain shower. After playing golf, he is doing the fantasy football draft with the neighborhood guys, then we have a JCC event at 6 p.m. This afternoon need to get that baby gift and drop by the shower, then meet him at the JCC.

I have a busy day going tomorrow and will have to hit the ground running - appt w sleep apnea nurse practitioner at 9:40 then dr appt w dmom at 1 or 1:30. I put 1 p.m. on the calendar but she says they left message that appt was at 1:30, so I will need to ck via phone on Monday a.m.

-brunch, meds + vitamins
-deal with 10 pieces of paper
-kitchen counters and breakfast bar
-make the bed
-refill meds container

Not a great day here.

Weather is good but dh is so far under the weather he's back in bed. I'm coming down with it as well. I'm not sick, just feeling it coming on and will probably be sick by Tuesday at the latest.

I've canceled our stay with my cousin and we'll head for home tomorrow with a brief stop at Uncs so he can see ds (only if ds is better and the weather is fine enough that we can visit on the deck so the germs won't be in the house.)

I've booked all of us a hotel in the same town where CM and family will be tomorrow night. But I've warned them we'll be arriving late (it is 9.5 hours driving time, not including the time at Unc's and other stops.)

I'm trying to listen to my friend's church service right now but the internet, even here in the lodge, isn't fast enough to make it easy to concentrate with all of the interruptions as it reloads.

Hi, hoping LadyM, FFriend and the InCanadas feel better soon.

I have a cousin who says leading men today pale in comparison to Cary Grant. Possibly true. He had the perfect balance of attractiveness and humor, great leading-man voice. He never took himself too seriously, which is the point of his philosophy in Twins' post, I think!

It was like pulling teeth to get dd to church this a.m. - nothing to wear, hair won't be dry fast enough, too much to do otherwise, etc. etc. etc. Once there she agreed to 1) a new early morning SS class and 2) singing with a group and 3) practice with said group. And she was one of the last ones leaving the church, still chatting after the deacons were turning the lights out for a cue. Her ddad says he's grateful she is so happy there but hopes she gets the concept of time commitment.

I did plums on the outside kitchen that worked out great I tossed the plums for the hens to them as I did it!
IpPut some chopped plums in the freezer and then made some cookies with some of the plums house smells yummy!

I put oats and ch. & butterscotch Chips in 'em.

Outdoor kitchen is clean for grilling now.

Now I need to clean the inside kitchen.

Have been working along, probably took care of more than 10 pieces of paper, but still have backlog going. DH came by home - they were done golfing but he went back out to have lunch with the group. His golf partner who had driven had to head home.

Z's father and younger brother came by to pick up our old firepit - now that we have one built in the old "portable" one can go and that leaves us more room on our patio, thank goodness.

This time:
-s2s
-start lasagne sauce
-water and fertilize outside plants
-pick up dog poop (didn't do last night, dh got home and I wimped out...)

Good Morning, Village Ladies!

I like the opener, Twins' Mom. It's nice and simple. Pure. Cary Grant's quote is hilarious and true! I hope to be more simplifying like he was!

I slept in late, but did s2s, etc.. I'm waiting on my Generic Zantac time to be up, so I can eat. I'm prepared for the week. I slept in my recliner, needed the rest, and feel rested now, too.

Harriet, I'm feeling fine. Just have a yearly eye specialist appt. to endure this week, is all. But I'm healthy. How did the slumber party go? Has it happened yet?

Nest boxes are all cleaned, coop is cleaned out as well.
While h. Was grilling up our lunch the hawk showed up again so I hucked a stick at it and scared it off. I closed up the top of the coop so the cheeing and peeping of the chicks is harder to hear. Cookies were good. Kitchen still needs attn. But I have gotten a few layers off of it. Time for another round!

Hi! Looks like I am not the only one under the weather. What started out as sniffles ended up as flu. I've been in and out of bed the past couple days. Starting to feel better but still congested. Hard coughing caused volcanoes everywhere. Friday night I had to get mop and bucket and clean whole bathroom and then take a bath. Sorry, tmi.

Right now my sheets are in the dryer and blanket and other stuff are in the washer. I had a couple fevers.

Exciting stuff here Friday. I was on the phone and there was a huge !!!Crack!!! and the next thing I knew the firetruck was here putting out the tree across the street that got hit with lightning. DH was out in the back yard pulling weeds under the big heritage oak tree and he came trotting up onto the porch pretty quickly.

The computer was running but it was ok. Rest of the electronics, plus the cable box and TV weren't working back here and I couldn't get the surge supply on...and we found a tripped circuit to the office in the panel box in the garage. We fixed that and turned on the power surge strip and everything was fine. I'm very grateful DH didn't get hit with that lightning and we didn't lose any equipment. It could have been so much worse!
