Oh, Harmony! The lightning scare was really something to read about! I'm glad you're all safe,especially your DH, who was outdoors at the time! Get Well Soon, too!

Oh, there's a little mouse in the wall. If it comes out, into the house, my kitty cat catches them, brings them to us, lets them go and then DH gets gloves on, catches the mouse and puts it humanely outdoors. It's so funny to see DH hunting the mouse with our cat!

DH is watching the Mariners and Red Sox. Currently it is 7 - 6 in the Mariners favor in the bottom of the 8th inning. IF the Mariners win again today (this game!), we'll have swept the Sox this time around.

Harmony, When I was a girl about 14 years old, I was ironing next to an open utility room window. Dmom was on the phone. I'd just put the iron down on its bottom, standing it on the ironing board. Lightning all-of-a-sudden whizzed in through that open window, past my head, into the dining room area, where Dmom was talking on the phone, she dropped the phone, because she felt lightning, and her arm went temporarily numb. The lightning went past Dmom, into the main picture window, and turned around and went back out the utility window again! I unplugged the iron, closed the window, and Dmom got off the phone. I had a terrible ozone headache from the flash of lightning, Dmom was okay, and brother! We NEVER ironed or talked on the phone or had an open window during lightning storms on the prairie again. It was dry lightning, which happened all-of-a-sudden, without warning, too. So, I understand how scary and serious lightning can be. I'm glad you're okay there.

Hi everyone! It has NOT been a simple Sunday at my house! Today was a special Sunday at church with a potluck. I had to get rice fixed before church and take it in and pack an amusement and water park bag. Of course, DD12 and I had a big argument on the way to church. She has foot problems and NEEDS socks if she is going to walk a lot (like say at an amusement park). I told her what we were doing and why she needed them, and to put them on. She put her shoes on in the car with, you guessed it, no socks! There are medical issues involved, so it is not really optional and the schedule was such that there was no way to return to them. New rule = we do not leave the house without shoes and socks on, no matter what. Even so, we were late for church, which ran long. I needed to feed DD and get to an animal org meeting at noon! So we left the post-service talk (the kids reporting on the mission trip) and grabbed some lunch early. I did tell some people why we were starting early (otherwise, DD would not get lunch and I had to leave very quickly). Still, I got disapproval from one person. By the time the talk was over, we had to leave! What else could I have done? ACK!!!

After that, I had to take DD to the animal org meeting. I had requested her to bring a book. She did, but never opened it, she was more interested in the meeting! Then, to the amusement park + water park, where she wore my socks. Then, a mad dash home to get her to church in time for youth group, which she loves. While she is at YG, I have located and re-downloaded a pattern that I misplaced, and found 2 places that will run a free test when your check engine light is on. Yep, mine came on Saturday. Do I NEED more expenses? (Pep Boys and Aamco, if you are interested). I counted the amusement and water park as my exercise today, and the church lunch counts as my good meal.

Still need to do tonight: LOL, fold previous LOLs, DD pick up and drop off, groceries, job search activities, some sewing stuff with a deadline, study Java before the book becomes overdue.

Tomorrow early: get Bolita and Pikachu to vet for spay. After that, get car checked, find out if doctor is on my insurance plan, bill pay, unemployment insurance, pick up another library book.

Dh went to bed for the morning and into the afternoon. Then he got up and went out into the sun for a bit. We went for a very short walk/hike, about 1/2 mile. He went back to bed and took his temperature after an hour. It was over 100. I watched HGTV for the rest of the afternoon, went and moved the car as close as possible to the cabin and brought back the cooler and last of the drinks to cool in the fridge.

Ds surfaced around 2 and went for something to eat up at the lodge with TGF. He was then exhausted so he had a nap until our dinner time. We had the leftover pizza and watched Wreck It Ralph. I walked that back to the lodge and am now working on cleaning and packing up the kitchen.

I've boiled up all the eggs (4 are left) and made up all the bacon. I've cut up the rest of the veggies and I'm now ready to pack up the food. There's a ton of ice cream left but we've had 6 servings, for $3.50 so I suppose I shouldn't sweat the waste.

I sold 2 more stories! This means 3 November stories, with a Feb. 2015 payday. I'm so happy!

Ordered a book on hold, will make a trip to a neighboring county to get it there, where WM is also. DH needs to get his gourmet hot chocolate. I want to look at the kitchen P 'n' C yarn, hoping to find yellow for a Dfriend's kitchen for Christmas gift crochet. If not, I'll settle for ecru or plain white.

I downloaded an e-book, am slowly reading it, and will try to crochet, watching "Mountain Men," at 9 p.m. and "Ice Road Truckers," at 10 p.m., with DH. Hoping no phone calls come in, as these shows are so good, I like to hear all of them.

DH informed me how football season's about to start. He LOVES ♥ college football more than pro, especially the Oregon Ducks. He was born and raised in Oregon. He used to bike ride to watch college games, sit in the end zone for .25 cents, and loved his routine. Things are much more $$ expensive nowadays, but DH is turning 73 in October, so I guess the .25 cents admission sorta dates him.

Elizabeth, Your Sunday didn't sound simple, when you explained it all out. Hoping the rest of it goes better.

Just heard the news that Richard Attenborough (sp?) passed away and he was almost 91. He was wonderful.

I cannot believe it'll be Monday tomorrow! Last week and this weekend have sped by! Where does TIME GO????

It's the night before school.
Had to do some school shopping. Batteries, alarm clock replacement.

The crowds out at large stores and the mall area were just amazing. Everywhere I turned there was a line, either of people or cars. I got beeped at when I took a parking place - evidently someone coming the other way thought it was "theirs", but the direction in which the large vehicle backing to and fro out of it was turning meant I was in the space long before I knew there was anyone on the other side.

The gift card dd had received for Old Navy was useless today. The line for the cash registers started at mid-store.

We got in another laundry load of darks. She went to youth group (the vacation bible school group).

She got her first mosquito bite of the year - ugh. Now we don't feel like we can let her help with outdoor chores. It is a huge whelp, like a saucer. She always reacts like that. I put benadril cream on as soon as I could.

Home sweet home!

And it was a fairly simple Sunday for me. DH drove all the way home except the last 20 miles or so, and I slept probably for 3 hours. (It's about a 6 hour drive.) We stopped for gas near home and I drove from there.
DGS stayed home w/his other grandparents instead of dealing w/the 111 degree heat index, so that simplified things some -- and when ds called this morning to see if we were eating or already at the festival, he relayed the message that ddil wanted to apologize for last night. I told him to tell her that was fine, I apologized also if it seemed I was trying to take over, that I had btdt and I knew what it was like on her side of the fence, too. So that was all that was said about last night, and when ds and ddil arrived at the festival, she came down and sat beside us, and everything seemed normal.

We had a really nice time at the festival except for the heat. Good gracious! My weather app said yesterday it was 90-something -- 99? maybe -- but it FELT LIKE 117!!! Something like 85% humidity... it was really just about unbearable. But then last night it got sorta cloudy and breezy and felt much more pleasant. Today we were only out there about a couple of hours. The first night, we arrived after dark, but it was just like a steam bath.

We are now unpacked, I've even taken my makeup off and done my allergy shots, and I am ready to catch up on the newspapers and relax! I've even got a load of laundry started.

DH won't relax till he has read EVERYTHING and taken the garbage to the road.

(((Harriet's dd))) for the terrible mosquito bite. My dbro used to have reactions like that. It was terrible. (((Harriet))) for the back-to-school shopping. * whew * I hate being in crowds like that!!! Hope dd has a great first day back.

WTG, FelineFriend, with your stories! That is great! * BTW -- do you use a pseudonym or do you write under your real name? Of course, I don't know your real name, LOL, but I often think if I wrote, I would want to use a pseudonym.
Ha-ha... I bet that is a BIG surprise to all of y'all, right? I mean, the way I'm so paranoid anyway. Of course I'd want to use a pseudonym. I guess I could call myself Lucy Lee. Or maybe Luci Leigh? That looks more "stylish," doesn't it?

Yep -- .25 admission to college football is a distant dream, FF... $70 is the ticket price for Saturday's game... and dh says that is for the "cheap" games -- major SEC games -- Auburn vs Georgia/Alabama/etc -- those have a price of $100 * IF you can get them. We have to pay extra of course, for the "privilege" of ordering season tickets, and still do not get certain Away games, such as Georgia and Alabama this year. We don't even plan to go to the Georgia game, but dh, dbil, and ds will be calling the ticket scalpers to get Alabama tickets. DH has not missed an Alabama game in -- I think -- 51 years... so it's a Must See for him, but I care nothing about the game day experience of being there, in the rival's home stadium, at the price they will pay. I had MUCH, MUCH rather sit on the couch in the privacy and comfort of my own home and celebrate alone if we win, and sigh privately if we lose, b/c it is NOT a fun place to be when you lose in the rival's home stadium.

I would go insane if I had a cat bringing me a live mouse to chase. Oh. My. Goodness. I think I am just as scared of mice as I am snakes.
