THIS IS A TEST TUESDAY

I don't know if I passed any tests today or not -- but it has been a calm, pleasant day, so I'll give myself an A.

Soon after noon, we got ds & dgs and went to nursing home where ds & friends were singing... and dgs was with us the rest of the day until just about an hour ago. Thought ddil was going to choir practice, but she sent me a message later and said it was postponed till tomorrow and she was just going to try to sleep if that was okay. Which of course it was. DS was at another singing w/another group of friends, which is a regular twice-monthly thing.

I managed to wash a load of clothes and hang them to dry, in preparation for tomorrow's ironing "marathon." * sheesh *

COMPUTER CRISIS Y'all, why do you think my computer is sooo slow when we are trying to watch or listen to live broadcasts? It just buffers and buffers and starts and stops and drives us CRAZY. We have talked to the AT&T people and talked and talked, and of course, they've been out here and worked on our wiring twice, and we recently replaced our modem. Is it the computer itself? What should I be checking for? It is driving dh insane. It is sometimes very slow w/other sites, like sometimes dh cannot get onto his comic sites on the desktop, but he has no problem using my iPhone to connect. Sometimes the iPhone is slow, too, though. I am just so sick of talking to phone tech support people (whom I generally cannot understand, anyway.) So frustrating.

OH -- Twins & Harriet -- if y'all get what we got yesterday, be prepared. It rained like they were pouring it out of buckets!

(((Harmony))) -- re: church project... I can certainly relate to your situation, having experienced an unpopular (to us) building project in our church, and also, knowing how an experienced builder would feel when he KNEW things were not being done in the best way. I think with my parents' church, ddad was always sorta the "go-to" guy in later years when they had any questions re: stuff like this, so he never got in the middle of any controversies -- but I can definitely imagine how he would have felt if he thought they were going down the wrong path. (((HUGS))) and prayers for you and Mr. Harmony.
So sorry about all the mess today, too, with the tires and everything.
I think I can safely agree that you probably DO need a BIG raise! You should speak to accounting about that ASAP.

Elizabeth -- take it from me -- it can get very expensive to drive like you are in the Batmobile. Cruise control. Cruise control is your friend.

Speaking of which, dbil called tonight and wants ANOTHER table out of dmil's house. I will be sooo glad when this is all over and done with.

I was encouraged to read somewhere yesterday that a Jack Russell terrier is a good mice deterrent. One positive note to ds/ddil bringing a dog into dmil's house. Dmil definitely would NOT have approved of a dog in the house, and neither does anyone else in the family, but it won't be our house, will it?

Movie review -- We saw The Judge last night. (Robert Duvall and Robert Downey, Jr.) It was very good. Sad, and some parts were difficult for me to watch -- and if I go into why, I'll probably be giving away plot points, so I'll just leave it at that -- but there were also some LOL moments, too. Both the Roberts are sooo good in their parts, although, as I said to dh afterwards, I don't think Robert Duvall has ever made a bad movie. He is one of my absolute favorites.

Hi everyone! Last check in. During Girls' Night Out, DD12 shopped for a birthday present for a Saturday party. I also got her a book (checking mirror for SUCKER sign on forehead). During dinner, which we ate at home, I got a really DPC. The kind that required me to make 5 other DPCs and arrange to pick up new foster cats tomorrow. Kitty crisis: two scrawny adolescent cats, one with a possible leg injury, coming to my house tomorrow! Good thing I rehung the doors to the sewing room. These cats are friendly, which is good because I need to use my sewing room right now. After that, I helped DD with her homework and took her to the park to swing, then back to the X's house. The X called in between some of the other calls. He had completely forgotten his promise to deal with the heater, and it had become too dark. We made arrangements for tomorrow. (At times, the X can be quite aggravating, but this is not one of them. It is very unlikely it was deliberate. He seldom forgets things and was mortified.)

After dropping off DD, it was grocery and gas time. I lost my list, I hope I got everything I need. I sent the requested addendum to my resume to Monday's phone interviewer. I have not done any costuming today, and must get to bed soon. I've had a toothache all day, but the dentist is unlikely to be any help. During allergy season, I often get a toothache, visit the dentist, who checks it and determines it to be a sinus issue. Since allergies hit me in fall and spring, it works out to two visits six months apart, which is exactly what you are supposed to do, but I like the postcard reminder better.

Tomorrow's plan: pick up cats, retrieve book returned to wrong library, DPC, Bible study, heater work, costuming, thank you notes. Church is having turkey and dressing for dinner. YUM!

FelineFriend: I have an unofficial, verbal offer with a start date of 27 Oct. Salary is a little less than I would have liked, but enough for me to pay my bills and not have to live like a grad student. I will feel much better when I get paperwork. Phone interview Monday went ok, but the job wouldn't start for several months! This morning, I kicked serious butt at the in-person interview.

lucylee: Yep, a house would be considered an item for blood or adopted relatives only. Jewelry has even more stipulations. Not only does it go only to family, but it never goes to boys. Just in case they give it to their wives and there is a divorce. (I suppose dad could give men's jewelry to my brothers, but I don't remember seeing anything other than his wedding ring).
