WEDNESDAY WALLAH!

Post by DeeClutter »

WALLAH! Finally I have my printer working again, at least temporarily. I'm almost sorry I bought two color ink cartridges at S am's yesterday. I might better have just invested in a new printer and ink for that. Now I'll have to wait until this color ink is gone and in the meantime I'll have to buy at least 2 black ink cartridges. For some reason the scanning program has quit all together on my K odak printer.

I've managed to have an allergic reaction to SOMETHING in the past few days. I thought I had a bite on my upper thigh, but then realized I had 2 more patches lower on my thigh. Then a couple more spots showed up -fairly large & round. Then yesterday my mouth/lips started feeling 'funny'. Have been taking sulfa for a gum infection but I've never been allergic to that before. My lips are almost chapped/sore -but not chapped.

I have a day to myself today! WAllah! I might be able to actually get my routines done. Dh went to school with dd. They'll be moving things to the airport for an exhibition starting tomorrow. Several of the schools have an expo and showcase their specialty. Of course dd's school is their technology program, which includes industrial arts, legos, robotics, computers, race car technology, aeronautics etc. She won't know about the new position at Air Academy until the end of the semester. The county school board has decided to wait until the end of this next term and have opted for a sub in the meantime. Principal is still very impressed with dd but that doesn't mean she'll have the job. Her focus right now is finding them a new home in all likelihood.

Going to go get the dishes done. Have to run some errands but have to wait for a friend of dsonil's to come pick up a paper dsonil printed off for him last night.

I have a day to myself too! Of course, I'm using it to catch up on the last week of busyiness and ds might come by in the afternoon but I don't have to leave the apartment today.

I'm thinking I'll put on some movies in the bedroom and work on finishing organizing my closets and drawers. That includes going through my winter clothes and moving them to a handy spot and tucking my summer things away in the drawers under my bed.

Dh has volunteered to move from his dresser to the built in chest of drawers which would allow my underwear and socks to be close to my other clothes. I haven't decided whether to take him up on the offer. It would put all his things in one place (and it is labeled 'dressing room' on the floor plan) but I hate to run him out of his dresser after 25 years. It seems rude and controlling to me. Even if I do that, my hanging clothes will still be over on his side of the room because that's where the closets are. So it isn't as if I'm making big progress, I'm just improving some things.

It is windy today so the windows are rattling. I'm thinking this may be a HUGE issue as winter progresses. For now I just turn up the volume on the radio, tv, or music. Thankfully the winds come from the north or west so the bedroom windows don't rattle.

Fascinating sky this morning so the view of the city, which is normally uninteresting in daytime but breathtaking at night, was very dramatic this morning. Mist on the river, layers of clouds and steam rising from the heating systems in some of the older buildings. Dh commented on how different the view was this morning.

When we were at the Seaway on Sunday I commented on how it wasn't the 'relief' or 'joy' it usually is to me and I suspect it is because I'm always within view of water at home so don't miss it like I used to. On the other hand, the fish and chips were still better than anything we've found in Ottawa!

Katherine, I so enjoy hearing the details, pros and cons of your high-rise apartment living. I think you have made a great transition after many years of living in a single family home away from the city.

Dee, I was going to ask about the new job for your dd and you answered all my questions in your post.

After a teeny tiny amount of improvement on Monday evening, dh is far from over this ordeal. I hope this works because I don't know where we go from here if it doesn't.

Dm went to see her cardiologist yesterday because he was in town for his weekly/monthly/whatever clinic. About once a week she says she feels odd but can not explain it. Next week she will wear the harness thing for several days. After the results of that, they will go from there. As always there is the question of what will she do if she needs surgery or a procedure that she will need recovery time and to be cared for. For me to take care of her, she would have to come here afterwards, since I can not take care of her in her own home. It's times like this that she gets in a tizzy over the state of her home. The rest of the time, she lives in denial.

Brrrrrrrrrrrr...... I am staying home today until I have to leave for a hair appointment this afternoon. The other day, dgd3 looked at me and commented that I now have "girl hair", instead of "boy hair". She is the reason I decided to grow it out. Her dgrandpa is glad that I am growing it out, also.

Guess I better get busy. I need to start pulling all my summer tops off of hangers and folding them, so that I can pull out the 3/4 and long sleeve tops, sweaters, etc.

Wallah! The dishes from yesterday are done and the clean ones that were in the drainer are put away. It does feel good to have a day all to myself! I realized yesterday that I'm getting a little 'cranky' because my routines seem to be out the window in the last week or so. Have to concentrate on them whether dh is here or not. Trouble is he likes to go walking early in the morning and I need to 'do' things before I head out the door. Not always an equal proposition. :? I absolutely need to walk -but I need it on my schedule.

Off to do my 'great room' routine. It's showing it needs it. Have to wonder what will happen in a new home -if that comes to be. We only have about 2 1/2 rooms of 'stuff' but know it will keep me plenty busy sorting it all out -and then to figure out what to do with it all if they get a new place. Here our room is quite spacious and we have a lot in that and the bathroom and some things in the office. Have a feeling a new house will be much smaller. This one is quite large and dd is ready to downsize. We will see!

Good morning Kathryn and Dee! and all our villagers! :D

Errand day here, and I need to find out what dh's plans are for the evening...
-groceries
-drop off excess meds from mother's house at drug drop off
-Tar-jay return
-dog food at petsmart
-wash the car
-cleaners
-what else?

For now, I need to get with routines, walk dogs all that stuff....

Dee, I am feeling revivied by this time I've had that's been quiet - more motivated and not so grumpy. I hope you have some time for the same.

I'm a lot like Kathryn w regard to the views - I enjoy waking up to our view of the sky and trees and mountains. Some of the mornings recently have been very nice with the sun hitting the autumn leaves on the next ridge over and everything golden. We have a lot of great sunsets also.

Musing on Kathryn's continuing re organization: I've remembered (or realized) recently that when we moved over two years ago, most of my efforts were aimed at just unpacking - getting things out of boxes and stashed somewhere. Although I've done some purging along the way, my intent in most cases was that I was unpacking and arranging "just for now" and that a lot of things need to be revisted. And that's where I am now, needing to revisit now that I'm not temple president....

Yesterday I joined the National G enealogy S ociety - only $65 and I'm thinking I'll enjoy reading their quarterly publication. This morning rec'd email about their family history conference next May - I might consider attending - it's not too far a drive and dh does an annual bowling tournament trip so I'm due....

Dee, should you call a dr? Wondering if there is such a thing as developing a sulfur allergy later in life. Best wishes to dd. She would be an asset.

Me too about printer stuff. Have had to learn about the scan-to-print and scan-to-computer features, and then how to get back to normal again. Then we ran out of ONE ink color and the printer thought the world had ended and went into deep despair. Wouldn't speak to me for hours.

But all the paperwork for dd's next internship interview is complete and turned in this a.m. She emailed that she was the first this a.m. to turn everything in and have submitted all the online requirements, so her engineering coordinator is happy. She spent days getting all that together, including recommendations, essay.

Very enjoyable time at our church guitarist's office yesterday as he showed us (dd with me tagging along) around the structural engineering firm at which he is a principal. His desk is stacked with complicated plans, and the walls covered with serious looking, framed licenses from lots of states. But they have a beagle as their greeter (WAY cool greeter - what a good communicator!) and they make some of their own office furniture from metal roofing, cables and guy wires. He's obviously happy in his work.

Dresser drawers - I have decided that large dresser drawers are often unhelpful, unless for sweaters. I either like small ones or really secure dividers, and in fact am in the market for some dividers now. I've gone for years with some flimsy ones and life's too short!

Twins' Mom, that sounds like a good investment for you. You'll be inspired.

Lilac, I'm sure this is tough on you right now, concerns for dh and dm. I hope they receive good reports.

toddlern's mom has no class today so I have the a.m. off.
Chickens are fine.

I am concerned about what I share here and am considering posting more in members only so I do not have to be on guard, so much, in other threads I want to be able to freely discuss stuff book, carrdfile etc. Considering changes re privacy stuff for me I guess. Maybe after the 1st of the yr. Thinking on this.

I have too much girl hair! I need a haircut, maybe next week. And color the grey too. DH's hair is getting lighter and lighter as more of his brown turns grey. It used to be a beautiful silver-ish but as the grey multiplies it's looking more white. I noted it the other day and he wanted to know if it bothered me. I think it annoys him that I'm still so brown (with just some grey on top) and his has turned so much.

Busy morning. Beautiful cool weather here. I wish I knew the temperature. My clock/temp sending unit hasn't arrived yet. Annoying.

LOL washed and hung. 1 LOL folded and put away. Dailies done. Mail to the box (again). Couple phone calls made. Did some gardening, transplanted a lot of little plants that were too close. Picked the green beans. Watered.

I get a lot accomplished when I don't need to sit at my desk all day.

Nancy, I'm thinking the same. Does anyone irl know you here? I'm almost absent on FB. The only thing I like about FB is people can post anything about any subject and it is just accepted that people just ignore or scroll by if not interested.

Oh, I forgot one big thing I did this morning. I brought big plastic tote from garage and reorganized all the tools/supplies in there. We carry this in the suv (no trunk) and it has big bottle water, oil, p steering fluids, all tools in case we break down. One socket set has a broken case and was all apart...I'll bet it's over 50 lbs but I got it done and back in the car. With so many miles on it I'm afraid to be without it.
